Last game to make you RAGE QUIT?

Deus Ex Human Revolution.
Fuck the first boss. I don't have any good weapon to kill him because I decided to upgrade my hacking skills.
Stun gun, shoot him in the head with something lethal while stunned, repeat until dead (plenty of weapons and ammo lying around during the fight to help as well). Most people make this fight more difficult than it actually is (for the record, I focused on hacking, yet beat him on my first try). I can understand complaints about the second boss, but I just used Typhoon for that.

Silent Hill: Homecoming. I had bought it cheap in a Steam sale, played passed the 'nightmare' section for over an hour, still yet to see a savepoint since that first section, then my PC crashed and I said out aloud "fuck this piece of shit" and that was that.

What were they thinking?

Battlefield 3 multiplayer. It seems my threshold for asshats and noob players is quite low these days.

Whenever I join a game and see that the sub-level 20 player "drives" the tank or everyone are on jets, etc. I quit right away.

Whenever I play Rush and we're supposed to be defending and most of them are running u[ front to get "kills?" I QUIT!

Yep, did this just last night. Half the team were goobers who didn't deploy medpacks, ammo packs or gave a damn about objectives. Ugh. I rage quit :(

I think that or Dota.

I rage quit at a particular boss fight in Vanquish on Hard, I think that's the last time. I nearly rage quit at the dumbass helicopter sequence in Bulletstorm but I managed to push through it.

Bastion

Hammer weapon challenge room. Game is glitched so the required time for 'gold' is actually several seconds less than stated, the challenge is pretty much bullshit anyway. So infuriating having a close run that is below the incorrectly stated time for gold, especially given how much luck is involved in much of that specific challenge.

Eventually managed through it after multiple rage sessions, but I pretty much vowed to never touch the game after, and I never have. That challenge soured me entirely, and I don't even care about what happens in the story or ending.

What counts as a rage quit?

Getting frustrated enough to stop playing? Or to be visibly upset in some manner?

I generally step away from a game before I get to the latter point, I just don't see the reason to get upset if I can avoid it. I do get pissed when my roommate gets angry over FIFA and drops my controller or something. Not worth it to get worked up.

But enough of my high horse BS. The last time I got legit pissed was when I first played Demons Souls. I was running back to my corpse after dying to the flame lurker for the first time and got impatient. Somehow got ganged by a bunch of those pickaxe guys and ended up losing a ton of time and souls.

That was the closest I have ever gotten to intentionally breaking/tossing my controller. After a strong clenching I put it down, stood up and turned off my ps3 by hand (a true sign of frustration). That was a while ago but the fact that I remember it so well kinda confirms it as a legit rage quit I guess.

Dark Souls. For a while there I was digging it and kept making satisfying progress. But now every time I play the game I just get pissed off and would rather play something else. Currently at Sen's fortress and am debating whether or not to even continue.

To be truthful, Hearts on the computer. Going to shoot the moon and end up scoring 25 points.

Fabricating reality a little to give a better answer, Jak II HD. Doing some silly mission where I guess the old safe house isn't new so I have to get a bunch of resistance members to new safe houses. Besides the fact that this makes no sense since surely these guys could take the short walk themselves, the annoying vehicle handling coupled with endless enemies just got to me. I'll put it off for another day.

Fighting the user interface and slow text display speed in the first 15 minutes of 999:nine persons, nine doors, nine hours.

I've since come back to it, but the slow text and ui quirks really hurt that game. :(

Might and Magic: Clash of heroes.

Was at the last boss, he was down to 1 measly hp left and I got hit by 14 damage when I had 13 left. Was a good clean rage quit with me ctrl-shift deleting and leaving the computer before I did something expensive. Maybe hit the keyboard a little.

I returned the next day after I had cooled down and beat him though.

@OP: Don't give up, there's a thread for this! :(

I haven't rage quit in quite some time. Uh...I haven't played Strange Journey in a while because trying to navigate the same dungeon for hours kind of gives me a headache. Will finish it eventually...after another play-through of Devil Survivor 2 :)

Dark Souls easily takes the cake. I lost over 70K in souls thanks to the notoriously cheap Anor Londo archers on the ledges. I literally said "f this game" and shelved it. I've never even reached Ornstein and Smough, but that section is super frustating.

LOL fuck those guys.

I'm stuck there right now, but I've never rage quit Dark Souls. The game is such a breath of fresh air compared to every other game right now that I can't help but smile while playing it.

My second favorite game of the gen after Galaxy 2.

Shadow of the Colossus, actually, replaying it on the PS3. Loved it back when it released but there are so many things that irk me which I now notice.

The controls are fine, I get and enjoy them, but I fucking hate the glitchy movements of the player character and the obtuse camera. The camera can be controlled but always snaps back for that "cinematic shot" which can be infuriating when you are climbing a colossi or trying to see what's ahead when riding the horse.

So I quit by the third colossi yesterday because I just had enough for that day. Still a great game, but it has aged.

Uncharted 2 - Opening stealth portion.

Fuck that shit. I hate forced stealth sections in games like that especially when the normal game mechanics suck for it.

Yeah those archers can eat one.

The Biggie-Smalls fight was surprisingly easy though for me. Like 2 tries.

SSF4 earlier today lol. I don't care if I get beat but soon as they start doing lame shit like running away and taunting then they don't deserve the points.

Subsequent playthroughs allow for skipping text that's been read before.

NBA 2k12- my player mode.
Was having a great 8 point comeback after being benched for most of the 4th quarter. Down by one with 10 seconds left, took the last shot, ball went in and out of basket.

This is also my answer. 0.8 seconds left vs the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference finals. Game 6, series on the line. My Bobcats are up my 2 points. My custom player has 14 points, 16 assists, 7 steals, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. He's basically played out of his mind. Ball is in bounded to LeBron James from several feet beyond the three point line with my guy defending and up in his face. He launches a three pointer and hits it.

Super Meat Boy. After 1 hour trying, I beat the first half of the final stage. Then, trying to beat the 2nd half I accidentally pressed the windows key. The game crashes.

It's a hard game they said. Fuck you Team Meat and your buggy game I said.

PS: I still beat it and it's one my most rewarding game experiences. :)

Homefront (single player) just made me mad.

Not because of difficulty, but because of how stupid it treated you, the annoying characters, linearity, lack of recoil..

I ragequit Devil Survivor 2. It is the only SMT I've ever quit playing.

I cannot get over how bullshit some of the stuff is, it just ended up being not fun. I got to a certain battle near the end of the game, saw what I had to do to beat it, and just stopped giving a damn.

This coming from someone who never ragequit at Demons/Dark Souls.

I think it would have to be CoD:MW3 multiplayer. I've raged a bunch of times since then but I think that was the last time I quit

Anno 2070.

After hours of playing and building my beautiful city, I realize the game objective can only be completed if I also takek the time to develop 2 separate faction/societies.

I rage-quitted when I further realize that I will have to spend another few hours building the other factions, simply because a bunch of tea drinkers can't just accept the beer I already produce.

Hahahaha

Those and 2 red dogs in blighttown or The Depths (I don't know where) are the worst enemies

Mario 3D Land

it's taking me so long to beat it because i can't play for more than 20 minutes without rage quitting

Man I'm not a pro gamer (on the contrary, I'm a noob in a lot of games) but 3D Land is probably the easiest Mario ever :p

Age of Empires III. Was playing skirmish and 2 enemy colonies attacked me at the same time. Won the battle but lost almost everything, couldn't be bothered to rebuild and ragequitted.

This makes me sad :(

Edit: depending on the battle, you might just be missing a racial skill that turns the battle into a cakewalk.

F-Zero GX. I played story mode chapter 5 (Save Jody) on very hard, a level that's 90 seconds long, for about 4 hours straight. Chapter 7 is the notorious level but it wasn't nearly as hard as chapter 5.

Did you ever go back and try again? It's a majestic game.
Oh yes, definitely. Such an awesome game too, and I loved my experience with it!

I just got super-burned by the stealth though at the start that I put it down for a little bit after having started it up because I just didn't like that part. I eventually got through it though!

I rage quit MK7 the other day, but that's mostly because the guy I was playing with was gloating like hell.

Real rage quit, though, I'd say KHBBS. Mysterious Figure was too cheap, man. No way could I hope to win that.

Modern Warfare 3 online.
I mean yea I was probably connecting to a host in S California, and I'm on the East Coast, but man...I'm literally 1+ second behind everyone else in-game and people on my screen are killing me even before they come around the corner or with their backs to me.
So frustrating.

FIFA Street. Playing online i was winning 4-1 against some guy, all of a sudden everything starts going wrong. Game starts lagging, my defenders just stand there and let the other guy past me. Before i know it, its 4-4 with 10 seconds to go. He gets the ball off me and shoots from MILES out and my fucking goalkeeper just diver OVER the ball. 5-4 final score. I threw my coffee mug across the room in rage. Then went outside for a loooooong walk ha.

This makes me sad :(

Yes, that's exactly what it was. I just couldn't care enough to fuse. An SMT managed to make me not want to fuse demons.

Needless to say I think Devil Survivor 2 is the worst SMT I"ve played.

new Syndicate, those bosses are just so un-fun that i can't be bothered to finish them if i die the tenth time due to crappy gameplay mechanics.

Motorstorm RC

The buggy and drifting challenges, GOD FUCKING DAMMIT!

It's skill based, but there's a little luck involved too, sometimes 1 clip fucks the whole challenge and takes eons to get back to it, cause you lose focus and start forcing to getting it done

I rarely rage quits multiplayer games, I rather fight till the end.

However, when no one is watching.. :

- SF4, that last boss. Fuck him, he's there to show you how much you suck at the game
- RE5, playing co-op with my girlfriend against Wesker. It was so infuriating on many levels, we both said fuck it, had an argument about it and never got back to it.
- Mario 3D land, special worlds (around world 6 I think?), ARGFHKJ FUCK
- Pictobits, no matter how many times I'll go back to it, it just fucks me up and I rage.

Settlers 7, right at that moment where it told me I couldn't play because it couldn't connect to the authentication servers.
