Last game where the visuals blew your mind?

Inside on the PS4 (pro)

BOTW from what I have seen.

Horizon looks pretty, but it's just technical. I like art style.

Yeah, Horizon has no style. I mean look how dull this screenshot is:

geez, hire some artists Guerrilla. Why do you make such bland-looking games?????

Final Fantasy VII.

Since then, for me even the best looking games have been "well it's great, but of course games can look like this now". FF7 was the last time game visuals did something that had been unimaginable to me before. (Granted, it was my first PlayStation game, and MANY of them could have had that effect on me.)

Played Uncharted 4 for the first time in November on the Pro and it was mind-blowing.

EDIT: My TV is only 32" and still 766p (loving its picture, though!), so it added another layer of "supersampling". Everything looked so crazy clean and smooth. Though, now I'm not sure, does U4 run in 1080p mode on a non-4K TV?

In recent memory I'd have to go with Hidden Folks and Oxygen Not Included.

The character animations in Klei's ONI are simply incredible. But that should come as no surprise to those who've played Don't Starve, Mark of the Ninja, Invisible Inc., etc.

Uncharted 4 makes use of downsampling on HDTVs, yes. :)

Forza Horizon 3 gets me every time I play it. The weather and the lighting gets me every time, takes my breath away on my 4K TV with HDR.

That being said Horizon looks just as amaze.

I saw super robot wars v and saw the robots that were manga only and has no anime, moving and attacking.

I was like holy shit.

Yes I am easy to please.

Crysis.

Horizons and Star Citizen *should* blow my mind, but the bar is so high these days that it's hard to leap over it as thoroughly as Crysis did.

I mostly care about art direction and style when it comes to visuals so The Last Guardian was the last one that blew my mind like nothing else this gen.I have a feeling Zelda BOTW will be the next one.

Sunset Overdrive. I love the color and the sheer level of detail, as well as how insistent the developers were on ensuring that enemies always convincingly spawn into the world.

Uncharted 4 when the storm rolled in when you are on that island.

Im not a "graphics" focused kinda guy, but that literally made me say out loud "wow."

during the 90s i constantly got blown away, because i was a kid.

in this gen, only uncharted 4 and cuphead blew me away so far.
it was the level of detail put in uncharted 4, which wowed me.

when drake was climbing and the pole he was swinging on was bent, legit got wowed, because ND thought of this small detail. and depending on the swinging, the pole was bent more or less.
unbelievable.

Bloodborne, I mean technically it's not the best but it's competent enough to output an artsyle that is so unique and beautiful, I've not seen anything like it in my life.

I believe that's photomode so it is not at all representative of actual graphical achievement in a gameplay scenario. Bullshots, if you will.

Most of my shots are drone mode which is how the game looks. Other than that photo mode in this game adds nothing more so do t know what you're trying g to say

Im playing Horizon now and yea...this shit is absolutely gorgeous. Stunning. Bravo, GG.

Prior to Horizon? Mario Kart 8 maybe? The Order?

Crysis.

I agree. Seeing Crysis running on NASA hardware 10 years ago was mind blowing.

But still DICE did something similar, but just like you said - not with same impact like Crytek before.

Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light
not sure which looked better, and I really didn't think they were even that good of games
but damn they looked pretty good

The Witcher 3 Blood and wine. I really liked the art direction and how it all blended together.
That game was some #obfuscation towards other games in the fantasy RPG genre.

However the absolute best moment was when I first fired up my PS4 to play Killzone Shadowfall and watched the intro video with amazement. Then suddenly I was playing and the graphics had not changed! It was incredible, I was waiting for the usual drop between cut sequence and gameplay and it didn't come.

I had the same reaction on a couple of scenes. Still a great looking game now compared with most.

This gen has had awesom stuff, most recently for me was Witcher 3 Blood and Wine, the mixture of art and technical skill just makes it look amazing.
