The Last Night

is there a soundtrack I can buy?

No Majora's Mask ????

Gaf, I am dissapointed =(

The Atmosphere on this game is BEAUTIFULLY scary
We're talking about games with great atmosphere that we recently played. I can't imagine MM falls under that category for many folks... It definitely has amazing atmosphere, though!

We aren't friends anymore.
They never stop chattering. I can't stand it. (Potential spoilers in that link.)

Playing through LOS on PC after beating it on PS3. Absolutely stunning and incredibly varied environments. Some of the best level design, creativity and art I've seen in a very long time.... which makes a lot of LOS2 so hard to play after drac's castle :(

Deus Ex Human Revolution, loved the atmosphere & music in that. I've been wanting to replay the Director's Cut version soon.

Kentucky Route Zero is the latest for me. The game feels very intimate, just lovely to play during the later hours of the day.

Before that probably Dishonored. That game pulled me in with all the scattered journals that gave tidbits about the Isles and people. They managed to make a compelling living world with a fantastic art direction and very fun stealth/gameplay elements imo. I'm super excited about more Dishonored in the future.

Favorite game ever in terms of atmosphere would be either REmake or Super Metroid. Leaning towards Super Metroid since it managed it to do it back in 1994.

The very last game I played with a really awesome atmosphere though would be Silent Hill 2, which I re-played last year.

Unreal Tournament GOTY(OAT). Hard to find good pics.

A combination of the perfect synth-y music and the consistently bold and crystal-clear audio/visual design on the weapons, plus an air of earnest gravitas. Many of the levels felt sci-fi fresh, and all of them had character.

I completed Child of Light and replayed Journey last month. Both have fantastic atmospheres. Journey is just incredible, so looking forward to their next game!

Obviously not the last game i played with atmosphere but sticks out for atmosphere, the first gme i thought of is bio shock 1.

No game will ever come close to Silent Hill 2 where the atmosphere told more of a story than 'cinematic' crap ever could. Truly a staple of interactive storytelling.

Most recently however, hmm, I wanna say Virtue's Last Reward. Even if it is a visual novel so it's not really atmospheric in the way that games usually are. However the writing, the music and the delivery creates this atmosphere in a different yet still unique way. And there's just enough exploring and interactivity to make it not feel like you're 'reading' a game, especially due to the way the game is designed.

Probably the best atmosphere I've experienced in a game. Amazing game
I played this for the first time recently and had to fire up Fallout: NV again after beating it since their atmospheres are so similar to me.

I'm currently playing Borderlands 2. It nails crazy and over the top perfectly. Its been ages since a game has pulled me in like this. The world is an absolute blast to experience and I'm usually not a big fan of first person shooters. I usually find that even the best loot games become a bit of a tedious chore to me which is not the case here.

Red Dead Redemption.

Oh yea I forgot about Kentucky Route Zero. Hypnotic. I need to try out The Last Night, that looks right up my alley.

Dark Souls 2 - Majula

The feeling and mood of this area is just incredible and also really hard to describe.
The desolate atmosphere along with the music almost makes it feel like a distant memory..

By far my favorite "hub" of the Souls series. Yes. I like it better than the Nexus.

I'm playing Demon's Souls for the first time right now and the atmosphere is great. I really like the combat and exploration too.

Other games whose atmosphere I love are:

- All the Bioshock.
- Shin Megami Tensei games usually nail the atmosphere. Persona 4 (latest I played) is really nice at making you feel inside the world.
- Soul Sacrifice, considering most stuff was done via text and nothing more, has an amazing lore and was quite emotional too.
- Gravity Rush had an amazing world, music and art style, so it counts too.

Now there is new gen remaster I would love to see.

Yes, please. A Bioshock Trilogy for next gen would be awesome. I wouldn't buy it at full price since I have the 3 games on PS3 (1 and 2 Digital, Infinite retail) but I'd undoubtedly get it for around 25€ down the line.

There were times when Dark Souls 2 really had some amazing atmosphere. Unfortunately it also had some of the most boring and uninspiring settings as well.

I feel like most of the games I really like tend to have a really great atmosphere. I think this would probably be my most recent favourite in this, though:

Earthbound, Deus Ex HR DC, ZombiU...

Awesome. Two guys in less than a week? Only the artwork could easily take up a multitude of that. I'd seriously buy that and their "real game" (which doesn't look as cool as this though) if it came out for WiiU. In fact, i can't understand, why they wouldn't target all platforms. I'm sure there are enough scalable engines around? And i think a Nintendo console would be perfect for this style (Another World, Space Quest...).

If you are saying the LAST game played with the best atmosphere I'm going with Outlast. It's not a great game by any means, but it does a great job of making you feel uncomfortable the entire game. It is so good when played in the dark.

Most recently - Betrayer on PC. Sorry no pics on mobile and no idea how to do with this interface.

Terrific atmosphere particularly when monochrome.
