Guys would you like a bunch of games from last gen say Farcry 3, God of war 3, GT, Crysis etc etc updated and re-released with better textures full 1080p support and running at 60 frames per second to be released just to kick start this green while all the new games come? Of course they would have to be cheaper for a double dip?

I think it would be a nice idea while we wait on this gens big games.

So...The PC versions?

Stop giving bad ideas to publishers, they might even listen to you. :P

I want them to focus on BRAND NEW stuff, not to try to earn easy money with silly cash-ins.

When they run out of game ideas in 3-4 years they are going to do it anyway. I'll take the Sony games in 60fps though.

I imagine the end of a few pants if they updated TF2 to have the option of using the Meet the Team models and other SFM tech (Ambient occlusion, depth of field, parallax mapping, etc).

That would be shitty to me. Not having BC then churning out games I already have instead of making actual new content to make investing in new hardware worth a damn.

With the success of 'classics' and 'HD series remakes' this gen, I suppose we had better believe that we are going to see those again... Publishers love money, and, for the time being, those make money...

Prepare for "Uncharted Trilogy", etc for PS4 eventually...

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I would think it would be hard to update PS3 games to PS4 games since they were made with a completely different architecture in mind.

Regardless, I would much rather have all resources allocated to making new games and not rehashes of relevantly recent games we played.

Umm no. I'm not going to buy the same games over and over again. Very recent stuff like Tomb Raider, The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite wouldn't bother me too much. But I have zero interest in some type of HD HD collection. I'll just play it on the original console, it hasn't been that long.

Wouldn't it also be possible that these games could be downsampled on next-gen systems? I imagine that they have the power to do so. Imagine a downsampled Last of Us. Mmmmmm...

I would love Bioshock infinite and the last of us

Amazing games with obvious technical problems thos gen, 60fps versions wouldbe great

Speaking about upcoming games, Dark Souls 2 please

Uhm, next gen is going to be kicked off with current gen games already (AC IV, Watch_Dogs, CoD: Ghosts, TitanFall, Destiny, ...)

No. I would buy them if I already had a new console but I wouldn't buy a new console for them. This wouldn't kick start anything.

No. Let's move forward. If you care that much about frame rate and resolution why didn't you get them on PC?

Edit: I see I have been beaten to the punch.

I'd like updates of older games only if in addition to graphical improvements they also fix broken gameplay. The most interesting remakes for me would be games that had an awesome concept but fell short on execution. If in hindsight, the developer realizes what went wrong and how to fix it, I say let them.

I'd love for this to become an acceptable trend, rather than just updating some textures and calling it a day. I want to see this industry return its focus to gameplay.

How about we get new games instead of re-releases?

It's the idea that these re-releases can be produced rather cheap and fast and get outsourced to other studios while the main studios develop their main ips. Like it's the case with the PS3 HD calssic releases.

So they can fill a gap of games after the console launch. Less a kickstarter than more a gapfiller. Then again i think this won't happen at a consolelaunch or even early in the console cycle.

I am expecting all this for source 2

I won't be surprised if TLOU and maybe even the Uncharted games get rereleased on PS4.
Makes me want to hold off on getting TLOU first

I would love to see Red Dead Redemption, Tomb Raider and the Uncharted games remade for the next consoles.

I still play RDR and think to myself games can't look any better so that games update to next gen would make me soil my pants.

Yeah dude I'd love for them to waste time on ports of 3 year old games, instead of working on new shit. Sounds like a brilliant plan.

If they could crap them out in a timely fashion, sure. But they can't/won't.

I don't understand people's disdain for rereleases. Most of the time they are done by a third party company like bluepoint and don't take away from the main team's time and money. The one exception being ZOEHD which is being fixed by the ZOE team stalling ZOE3 development.

Think people will get more annoyed when they have to rebuy HD editions of games they have already bought this gen. XBLA/PSN HD remakes etc are all tied to that old hardware. how many more times can we buy Street Fighter etc?

Makes a lot of sense for PS+/XBL free games thing. Think both should offer free multiplayer games from last gen - thinking warhawk, fat princess etc and a pick of AAA if possible

Well I don't have a 42" screen connected to my PC for one. So I would be in favour of an updated far cry 3 and crysis etc.

I've always thought this was a great idea. Big titles are always going to take time, and I don't see why there shouldn't be some low-cost last gen ports to fill out the ranks in the meantime.

That's not to say there shouldn't be smaller and/or indie games as well, obviously.

Why is it a "silly cash-in" to provide a better version of the game?

If people want to buy it, good for them.

I have never owned a high end PC so I would love thebest versions come out on next en systems.

Some ideas

Crysis Trilogy
Batman Arkham Trilogy
Metro Double Pack
Tomb Raider
Hitman Absolution
Bioshock Trilogy
Max Payne 3
Super Street Fighter IV AE
Portal Double Pack

All the above games have PC versions, so devs can do a quick port to next gen.
