Last Guardian delayed

End of the year will be insane...

Nov 29: FFXV
Dec 2: Gravity Rush 2
Dec 7: The Last Guardian

A new holy trinity of japanese games will be upon us, it'll be glorious.
not for my wallet though :(

There's another trinity with potential to be even better at the start of the year:
Persona 5, Nier and Yakuza 0.
Also SMTIV Apocalypse for europeans in december
right Deep Silver?

Next gen Sony will not see my face before 3-4 years after the start. Remasters and delays... plus the little joy of having badly optimised games when they are more hyped than build with love.

F*ck you!

of course the game is finally here so I'm happy but... so tired of this shitty gen. Except 3DS maybe everything was disappointing in a way or another

I am perfectly OK with this. There was no way I was buying the game in October. December is a much better fit.

Everything from Sony has been getting delayed this year, except Gravity Rush 2 (I think?).

Is it coincidence? Mismanagement? Or do they just have the luxury of adding a bit of extra polish to their games due to their advantageous position in the market, and they're making use of it?

Their line up is still pretty fantastic, it's just consistently 3-6 months behind schedule. (Though I suppose TLG is like six years behind schedule. ;_;)

I'm sure it's spread across all of these, but, I'm placing the blame on management.

I know everyone loves nice-guy-Yosp, but, under his watch, this gen has been a shambles for first party. It'd be one thing if these delays were churning out masterpiece after masterpiece, but, they aren't. inFamous was a disappointment, The Order was a disappointment, Driveclub was a disappoint (not to me, but to many). Even the two games that actually made it on time (Knack and Killzone SF) were huge disappointments. The only one that crushed it was Uncharted and even that suffered multiple delays.

Put the VR headset down for a second and get your shit together, Shu.

Damn coming from the PS3 gen you'd expect Sony's output to be amazing...

... In reality only Bloodborne and Uncharted were good, the rest were disappointment after disappointment

Luckily Sony did exclusive deals with third party to sugar coat this dreaded mess

a shame tbh :(

Not at all surprised tbqh

I've been hearing a lot of posts suggesting Zero Time Dilemma is bad. I've been thinking about getting into the series. What makes this one bad?

The series is good and ZTD isn't a bad game, but it's the worst of the three. It's made on a small budget and it shows (recycled music, ugly cutscenes, bad voice acting), puzzles were easy, story was kinda eh. Lost interest and stopped playing before I reached the end, but I read that it was pretty crap too and left many unanswered questions. It's still a solid game but a poor follow-up to what 999 and VLR built. Basically I've only seen adamant fans of the series praising ZTD.

That being said, you should play 999 and VLR at least sometime.

Delays are part of the Last Guardian experience, I wouldn't have it any other way tbh. They're just being authentic to their legacy.

It was the only game i was interested in for October...

Sigh, another delay. I'm sure there will be someone out there who first bought a PS3, then a PS4 and finally a PS4 Pro to play this game.
But I'm okay with it as long as it gets better.

FUCK.

That delay. Gonna be stacked on games at the start of December. FFXV, TLG, GR2. Gonna be a rough one. XV might be the one put on the shelf until I finish the other two.

"The Last Guardian will launch on 7th December 2016, across Europe and 9th December 2016 across UK & Ireland."

I don't mind the delay, but delayed release for the UK is still such utter bullshit for any game, if you can deliver it everywhere else a couple days beforehand you can release it here. Thankfully they changed it for Uncharted 4, but they were going to do it for that too, EA always does it too, there's nothing more enjoyable than having to be careful on the Internet for a few days so someone does spoil something in some stupid comment.

Infamous:SS was not a disaster, drive club ran fine it was online that had issues.Ratchet and clank had one delay and was great especially at $39.99. Tearaway unfolded turned out great but no one bought it. Until Dawn was also well reviewed received and a hit. Uncharted 4 is fantastic, resogun fantastic, abzu is great. Bloodborne was great. Really the only thing that turned out bad was the order and online for drive club.

As disappointing as this is, I am more than ok if it means a solid experience. Plus, that means I get to play it on my PS4 Pro, so it's a win-win.

While the bigger delays are probably just simple mismanagement, I think in general publishers are starting to realize that if you can make significant improvements in a game by pushing your ship date back a few weeks/months that's the better call than shipping it on time and patching those fixes in later, because in the end review scores and social media buzz are going to be based on the game as it is on launch day, not the game as it is weeks/months later. This especially applies to games that are primarily/entirely single-player like TLG and FFXV, where by the time you fix things your day one buyers are going to be done with the game anyway. Sony was maybe a little ahead of the curve on this, of course, mostly because their position lets them afford to be that way.

Buy from SimplyGames, you'll probably get it before Wednesday unless it's something massive like Uncharted 4.

For the record I knew a delay was inevitable since they haven't showed anything since E3 this year, that said there will probably be some new footage tonight during TGS.
