He is basically like the Bruno character of Sacha Baron Cohen.
Yup. His entire schtick is to act overly gay (hence HARD gay) and put people in somewhat embarrassing situations with his crotch thrusts. But he's not overly offensive and actually seems like a pretty nice fellow.

That's pretty much his entire deal. I have never known what to make of him, but for some reason I love him. Anyway he was one of the hosts at an event in Tokyo last night and when I was introduced to him as a big fan, he seemed skeptical until I yelled, "AH-FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
Next I want to meet the drunk, naked guy from Smap.
That's pretty awesome! I love that guy. I thought he stopped with that persona? I heard he got in trouble or something for giving gay people a bad image or something. I haven't seen any new videos of him

The source of the humor is the same, but there's differences in execution and attitudes between them, I think. Hard Gay is more obvious as a parody, for one.
