So I got my HDMI cable today and PS3 naturally looks amazing on my HDTV. Now here's the thing, it does 720p native so should I cap the HDMI output at that or just let the TV downscale 1080p to 720p automatically.

Also does the PS3 downscale 1080p Blu Ray movies to 720p automatically if I set my HDMI to 720p max in the dashboard?

manually set it to 720p otherwise it will do 1080i, so yeah just setting the max to 720p is the best thing to do

As for your second question about Blu-Ray movies, yes it downscales to 720p.

Set to 720p max resolution. Everything will scale to that resolution, if you allow the PS3 too.
