Last Story (Mistalker, Wii) trailer

Pretty disappointing looking trailer to be honest. Character models look very generic, animations are absolutely horrible, bland music, cover system feels like a gimmick etc.

I hate this differentiation between "gimmick" and "innovative". Some titles are gimmicky, others are innovative.

Innovations are gimmicks you happen to enjoy.

That's a different thing altogether.
He's talking about technical problems, while you're referring to "artistic" choices.

If the net result is the same - the character animates in an unnatural way - then why should i care about the reason as a user? Neither issue is insurmountable on either platform.

i like the fact that the party is talking within the battle

one character said "use magic" and then after someone used it another female character said "yeah well done" or something like that. hopefully there is a lot of dialogue like that

I so hope this gets brought to North America. Anyone else catch the music in the beginning. Given the game's creator I expected to feel a bit of the older Final Fantasy but the music was pretty similar at times to the battle music in Final Fantasy 7. That's not a bad thing at all. I am surprised to see the duck and cover system yet it still seems turn based in terms of input or at least menu based.

Can't see the trailer, and I think I'm going to just stop following this and Xenoblade until 2017 when I will be proficient enough in Japanese to the play them.

I don't know if it's for EU or NA (probably the former), but Xenoblade/Monado is getting an official English translation. Trust me on this.

Really now? And what gives you this hope?

God, I love those character designs. Who's responsible for them? They look like a combination of Vagrant Story and Shin Megami Tensei with maybe a little Xenogears thrown in for good measure. Best I've seen in a long time.

I think it's all this talk about the game being stealth announced at E3 last year as Monado, an some GAFfer who sent a mail to a Ninty PR.

If you have any new info, talk dammit :lol

We promise we won't tell the rest of Internet. It will stay a secret to everybody.

Hopefully Nintendo is smart enough to leave the title as 'Xenoblade'. Calling it 'Monado: Beginning of the World' is just throwing money away.

There's so much hate in this thread :lol

I love the trailer, the battle system looks awesome, the environments are what I thought they could be after seeing the artwork. I don't understand what's with this 'lack of colour' cry, Demon's Souls doesn't use that many either, why does it exactly have to be colourful like DQ-BD-Tales? And the music is really enjoyable.

I haven't been excited so much for a console RPG since FFXII.

Okay, that's it. I am selling my Wii if this game doesn't come stateside.

I was upset about Graces, I'll be pissed about Xenoblade, but this... will be The Last Straw.

Mighty impressive!

Xenoblade hasn't been announced for the States yet!? You just ruined what was starting to become a great day :^(

Characters animate really well, better than I would have assumed actually. Game also appears to have many factors afoot when engaged in battle, very interesting.

I really think, well hope that Nintendo goes crazy with pushing this game. I mean massive ad campaign. With very liberal use of "From the creator of Final Fantasy" included. This game based on look alone I think could do insanely well if pushed the right way.

For the HIVE!

I thought it was funny seeing all that in the first page, fuck off 2.0...

Animations a bit jittery and some movements are a bit off. Not as bad as a lot of people are making them out to be though.

Also my two cents on the colours: It needs a small saturation boost (20% extra looks about perfect).

Glad to see you've played the game. Mind giving us a mini review?

I'm not sure why you guys are so shocked at the lack of colors. We've had like 3 scans released for this game already and the first thing I thought of was the lack of colors and overuse of bloom. The textures are pretty low res too from the trailer. The combat has my attention 100% though. I like action packed combat.

I'm sure everyone's already said this but....

Animations need work, battle system looks like it has potential.

Awesome visually.

Anyone else notice he didn't play as anyone but elza for the entire trailer? I hope Elza isn't the only playable character :/

It's still from Mistwalker, so... no.

Maybe Nintendo's magic will embrace this one.

Yeah, because that totally worked on ASH.

Is it safe to say that ASH was seemingly not up to snuff, because it was by Racjin?

I mean that's the developer of Bomberman spin-offs and helper of the Mario & Sonic Wii series.

Artoon (should it be them) seems to be at least more competent, and has experience working with Mistwalker (and Nintendo on the recent Yoshi games and now FlingSmash).

Game looks ace. I loved, loved, looooved Lost Odyssey so I can't jump on the hate train. I'm not too fond of the lack of color but Nintendo already put out Xenoblade and has that side of things covered. What really surprises me is the cover system, obviously using the pointer for aiming, which is always a welcomed addition (best use of the Wiimote afterall). Liking that its a non-traditional JRPG when it comes to battle system. Sure I would've been fine with traditional turn-based but whatever... would love if it had motion plus for melee weapons because that would be icing on the cake.

Both these games better come over.

P.S. - JRPG haters can suck a dick. I can't fucking stand Mass Effect. I got tired of that shit after KOTORII and each Bioware RPG from Jade Empire forward got less and less interesting.

Best action RPG battle system I've ever seen.

It looks to be not entirely action-RPG and not entirely turnbased.

You can see it when the characters are up close and just doing normal attacks.
