I would die for a "everything Norm MacDonald has ever done on NBC" dvd

Norm is great, why did he ever fall off?

Holy shit at Norm weekend update #1 December 14, 1996: "watchdog groups report airlines are vulnerable to terrorist attacks, the biggest problem evidently, is watchdog groups pointing out to terrorists that airlines are vulnerable to attacks"

To be fair he never fell on. He was neither a box office or television draw.

I don't understand why... he's so funny. I loved him as a kid and I love him now... it's not something that I "get" over people.

The same executive who turned Jay Leno into a pandering hack to suit the Tonight Show also ruined Norm's career because Norm was "not funny".

Don Olehmeyer. Look up the stuff Norm and Letterman say about him on wiki/youtube.
Here's the first interview he did after being fired, which, after this, Olehmeyer started pulling backstage strings to ruin his movies/shows:

Also, Norm's first sitcom did pretty well until ABC FOXed it. Y'know, messing with the timeslot and cancelling it.

I remember the skit called "Actual Items" which were a knockoff of Jay's headlines (funny stuff in real newspapers) and one funny one that showed a grocery store advertising eggs that said "Remember - there's a little bit of rooster sperm in every egg you eat." HAHA of course he said stuff like "you can't make these up" which of course they were LOL
The clothing sale was the best one. "These prices will make you question your faith in God!" Had an accompanying clip art of several religious icons with a woman looking away with a talk to the hand gesture.

:lol Really Conan? People are sticking with you?

Of course the ratings jumped. Everyone talking about this like it's actual news. As soon as the hubbub dies down, so will the ratings.

Whatever Conan does next will have some initial interest, but slowly die because O'Brien is just not very popular.

Yep, just like when Leno had Hugh Jackman on. His ratings just went back down to the struggling numbers they were at before that, and Letterman continued to beat him for years.

...oh wait.

Conan is not Leno, and Conan doesn't have universal support, despite what the GAF hivemind believes. A lot of people are viewing this as a trainwreck, largely brought on by Conan not doing what any entertainer, whether T.V. Host or Am radio DJ, know, and this is to cover your ass in your contract.

Conan has always been billed as the one who gets attention form the 18-49 age group, so he is not really expanding. He is attracting his casual fans, his lapsed viewers or people who know of him from others. As soon as the attention fades, so will he.

He is going to get the same deal that he would get if it said 11:35 on his contract instead of the Tonight Show--what are you talking about?

I disagree and believe all of your conjecture is incorrect.

If you are following what's going on, they are kicking him off the Tonight Show, his contract is for the Tonight Show--ergo they are breaking his contract, and his contract protections kick in.

Yes, NBC had the right to move him and the Tonight Show onto 12:05 and stay within the contract without his agreement, and force him to breach the contract by leaving, but NBC chose to go the other route and take the Tonight Show away and give it to Leno, and therefore NBC is in breach of the contract.

As much as i love conan, short of him paying his coworkers who moved their lives with him and are soon to be out of work, for the months he off air, i cant help but think he should have swallowed his ego and done the move.

Its crazy, how supportive i was last week, but i would be fucking furious if i was in his crew, and those thoughts have definitely damped my resolve.

I have to agree. I liked them both when they were back-to-back, but preferred Leno more. I only watched Conan at the beginning because it was right after and I was too lazy to change the channel. I haven't watched the tonight show since he took over and only started watching last week because of this whole mess. Meh, it's not that great. Idk why but blame Andy Richter is part of the problem. He's not funny and just sucks. Anyway, I like Conan and all, even moreso after he did a graduation speech at my high school, but the show is just not that entertaining. My opinion, of course.

Yeah except you dont know any of those people, their schedules, work offers, salary, settlement, stance or thoughts on the situation.

For all you know, theyre the ones that convinced Conan to quit.

This seems like a great place to live. The area is nice, the people are friendly. Very spacious and inviting. And that rent is right in the range of what I'm looking to spend. You aren't going to leno me in a year's time, are you?

:lol

Please. So they asked him to end their job?

All im saying is that im not looking at it completely one sided. That shouldnt bother you.

I dont know, Im not even remotely close to the situation so I dont bother to pretend imaginary people have an imaginary opinion.

Makes me wonder if a female with a healing factor would be rendered sterile like Super Mutants from Fallout.
Think, would she ever really lose her virginity or hymen?

A very stupid thing to say but someone had to say it

Anyway I hope Conan gets back on the air soon, less than two years I hope.

Y'know, it's not like Conan's crew were forced to move to LA with him. I'm sure it meant their pay went up a little bit, but I'm willing to bet anyone who wanted to stay in NY didn't have much trouble finding a new job. As for the writers, years of experience and an Emmy on Conan's acclaimed Late Night show probably goes a hell of a long way, and I'm sure a lot of the rest of the staff could have easily gone to another show. Hell, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon was starting almost immediately, I'd bet there were opportunities to switch to Jimmy if they wanted to stay in NY.

I'm willing to bet most of the people who went to LA with Conan, after working for him for so long, came to share his Tonight Show dream. I'm pretty sure his pride and ambition trickled down and was a big motivator for the whole operation.

Plus, if anyone's life is really that screwed, I'm sure Conan will try to pull some strings. Between the genuine (a word Leno doesn't seem to know) friendships he has with major players in the comedy world and all the general comic good will he's gained by standing his ground, his guys don't need to worry. They won't get steady paychecks like they used to (for a while), but I don't think Conan's going to let any of them live on the street.

Yea.. im sure everyone will land on their feet. In the grand scheme of things its going to be considered just a minor annoyance for most and a great story to tell their grandkids later :)

PASADENA, Calif. - Conan O'Brien's ratings are soaring as he nears a bitter exit from NBC's "Tonight Show," his ridicule of his network executives apparently resonating in a country filled with the unemployed.

wtf, have not they ever heard of a comic scrip called dilbert

one thing that bother me about andy, he sounds sarcastic when he says what guests are on, like he is not able to be sincerely excited

Well all I can tell you is that female vampires that are virgins when they are "turned" regenerate their hymen if it is broken.

Thanks for that nugget of info, True Blood.
