That's retarded, it's like asking people "DO YOU THINK TELEVISION SHOULD BE IN COLOR?" back in 1965.

edit: Unless you're a Nintendo fanboy, then HD doesn't matter

Buh-bye 1080p PS3 games?
This was question 3:

The Playstation 3 will include Bluray, the high definition DVD technology, and support games in resolutions of up to 1080p,(the highest supported standard on the market.)
Given that information, please choose the statement below that best describes you.

- I will be more likely to purchase a Playstation 3 because of the HD functionality
- I will get more use out of my HDTV once I have a Playstation 3
- I'm not immediately interested in the HD features of the Playstation 3

Or if you're one of the millions of gamers without an HDTV...

Let's hope so. I'll take the better graphics & better framerate in 720p over upping the resolution of the same game, to something that 0.1% of people can appreciate.

*edit* Although, I don't know where you got that conclusion from when it mentions 1080p games right in that survey.

You guys are actually just supporting his bw -> color analogy.

Wonder why I never got this survey? I got the more recent PSP usage one.

*shrug*

I'm shocked that people really thought that it was going to happen, really. You can probably wave bye-bye to dual HDMI outputs as well.

Irrelevant. Everyone will own one eventually. You will too, even if it's in ten years. When you do, 360 and PS3 will still be HD and you'll still get the benefit from it.

There's no indication here that 1080p support has gone. The thing clearly says games can come in resolutions up to 1080p.

I don't care if they take away ONE of the HDMI ports. But if they take away BOTH ports? -- F*ck that -- I won't be buying a PS3.

This is marketing, marketing, marketing... these answers are most likely going to be used for decisions on how to MARKET the PS3 - what features to focus on when advertising, etc.

You think they are using these informal surveys to actually decide the capabilities of the system itself? It's already set in stone...

At the expense of a lot of other shit. Not worth it from a performance standpoint. Not to mention the few sets out there that even support (true) 1080p.

sssh, don´t you see they are getting fun, don´t ruin it!

You are crazy if you really believe that this question are for fixing the specs, when do you think the system is going to launch? end of 2007?

That's up to the developer to decide. The requirements of their game may coincidentally allow them to run at that resolution, for example if they're just really not pushing the system a whole lot.

I expect the numbers using 1080p to be low, but at least it's an option if the dev can use it.

you have to give it to sony's marketing department though, they do a outstanding job:

ms -our next xbox will be named xbox 360 so it will not be inferior sounding to ps3,
sony -hah ha with those specs and the timeline, i guess it's more like "xbox 1.5" ha hah ha

ms at e3 05'- 360 has 1 teraflop performance
sony at e3 05'- ps3 will have 2 teraflop, eat that sucka!!!

ms - 360 will bring "high def" gaming,
sony - 720p ain't real high def ,1080p is and guess what ps3 will deliver not one but two 1080p in price of one!!!!
