Latest Trend: Blackout Tattoos

This is the only type of tattoo I've ever wanted to get. It even makes regular tattoos look better if you have them reversed so that the design is your skin and the canvas is the blackout.

Pretty cool to look at for 10 seconds while scrolling through a msg board. However, having those permanently for the rest of your life is beyond goddamn ridiculous. It boggles my mind why anyone would ever do this. You're wearing your bad choices.

latest trend from like a decade ago maybe

This.

As for blackouts, I like them, but won't get them.

Body space is finite and there's so much you can do with other tattoos that you can't do with blackouts: cover-ups, blastovers, etc.

If the OP (or anyone else) is into black and grey, check out Thomas Hooper's needlework, if you haven't already. He's down in Austin now just killing it. Everyone at that shop is killing it.

I don't really have any interest in getting a tattoo, myself, but I can't deny that I think these look fucking awesome.

Not if u make a tat gun like this

That is literally the my cat's hair brush....

Love ink on girls personally, and some of these designs are great. Some of these though just incorporate a bit too much which are just blobs which feel aesthetically lazy, especially juxtaposed with minute patterns.

But there is a pattern to most of them. Take this girl for example

Is that a young Albert Einstein on her arm? ;p

Not really a new thing, just that an Instagram account is collecting pictures of them. Some look good, some look bad. As usual, good looking people with well done tattoos can pull them off.

I love tattoos but this is definitely something I wouldn't get even if I was paid for it

These are also called blackwork tattoo's and have been done since forever.

Who are you to say someone is unhappy with their tattoo and think it's a bad choice?

I think it looks pretty awful personally, but it's not my body so whatever.

I'm such a fan of skin and to see it covered up with imagery or blackout, it hurts. Such beautiful skin gone.

Tattoos don't make sense to me. Personal opinion. Covering up the beauty you were given with something else.

I'm not one to rag on tattoos, I think some are cool, but I could do these cheaper with spray paint and stencils

About 8 years ago I got in an argument with a tattoo artist because they said they could not put a black band on my one arm. I wanted it about 2 inches wide and just a solid band all around. They were trying to say it was impossible to put a straight line on an arm since it was a cone shape, blah blah blah.
Needless to say I did not use that tattoo artist.

So it is still something I consider doing to this day. If I were to do it would just be the upper half of both of my arms into my pectoral area.
I am just a huge fan of minimalism all around. Less is more to me. And this is about as minimal as you can get on the tattoo side of things.

I don't know, they can look great when they are fresh and in pictures, but I suspect that they probably don't look as good in person or once they age a bit. Touching them up would be a bitch too

I think it looks awful but I'm not a fan of tattoos anyway. At least with most tattoos there's some design to it and some can look really nice. These look like someone took a sharpie to their arm, even the ones with some design in them.

I've seen them before:

No opinion on them. I love body art in general, but not on myself. I change my mind way too much to do body art.

The one on the back looks good, but some of the others look(hopefully) unfinished.

I'll will say that they'll probably age really badly. I've always hated that dark greenish color tattoos take on when a person has had them for a long time. These are going to be an eyesore. I doubt the people who get these care though.
