It runs on a bit too long and I felt from a modern perspective the main character is unlikeable but the movie is gorgeous and its worth watching if only to see how it has influenced so many others in film

Yeah, decided to buy it since it's a great deal. Maybe I'll try and watch it next weekend.

nabbed it for 10$

Won't ship for a couple weeks, which is fine.

I'm going on a vacation for a week, starting today, plus I bought 9 movies from the Criterion Sale a week or so ago and those came in earlier in the week. All are still wrapped.

great price on a great movie, saw this for the first time in years in theaters last year, it was great, time went buy fast, and i enjoyed the movie.

I've never seen this movie so I ordered it.

Even if you don't like the movie (Although your tastes would be highly suspect if this were the case) the restoration on the Blu-Ray is a showcase for your movie watching setup. Easily one of the most impressive restorations I have ever seen.

Better than Ben Hur?

I've never seen this...I'm curious. How good of a movie is it? I still really enjoyed Ben Hur when I watched it a few weeks ago.

On the same level as Ben-Hur, but with a superior final act.

A more iconic score, a better cast of characters and cinematography.

It would most likely be a top 10 for me if was shorter because it clearly doesn't need to be this long. It's so painfully obvious that it was made like this for the same reason we have 3D movies now, to give people something they can't get at home with all those "epic" shots that don't really have any purpose. Every time I'm really getting into the story it's kinda like the movie stops teling the story and yelling at me "THIS SHIT IS SO EPIC"

Huh? Lawrence came out in 1962, well before the advent of home video. All movies were "something people couldn't get at home".

Ordered this morning. Saw Lawrence for the first time in the fall when it was in theaters. Fantastic film and an absolutely flawless restoration. Can't wait for the blu.

A two hour Lawrence of Arabia just wouldn't work.
Admittedly you could split it into a two movie series just fine, but if you really want to do that then just stop at the intermission and finish watching the next day or week or whatever.

Man, really tempting though it's sold out right now.

It's a film in love with the cinematic language of film, capturing an era, sense of place, and state of mind - back in an era where a shot could linger without feeling a need to jumpcut in a desperate appeal to ADHD-riddled brains.

Why are you quoting my post with this when it has nothing to do with what I've said in this whole thread?

It's a really good movie that could've been great if it would focus more on the story and less on trying to impress people in 1962 with EPICNESS

Alright so I added

Lawrence of Arabia
The Princess Bride
No Country for Old Men

To my cart. But the price is listed as 24 pounds, not 17. What gives?

Got sick of trying to figure out why its not working and ended up paying 23 for the lot. I mean 35 dollars isn't a bad price for 3 blu-rays but you always feel like you got stooged when a deal doesn't work properly.

Thanks for the heads-up, consider it bought.

I'm still disappointed I wasn't able to get to a showing during the theatrical run last year.

Bought it on Saturday thanks to this thread and it arrived today. Bonus I wasn't expecting (I guess because I wasn't paying attention) but it comes with an ultraviolet copy as well. Fantastic deal.
