More options are always better when it comes to building personal PCs. Glad some budget cards are being released after we got two high-end ones, being the 1080 and 1070. The more the merrier!

I don't follow video card tech, so this chart is completely mindblowing to me. Do numbers mean nothing? A 590 is better than a 960 but worse than a 780? WTF?

Typically in NVIDIA's case, the 1st digit is the "series" number, and the next 2 digits are the specific card.

So the 590 is the "90" card from the "5" series. 90 being the highest it could ever go, and also specifically being a dual GPU (two GPUs on a single card).

The 960 is the "60" card from the "9" series. It's from a later series, but a lower tier within that series, so matching them up the 590 would win, apparently.

For NVIDIA the pattern goes like this: First digit is the series, currently we are on the 10xx-series, before that it was the 9xx-series and so on.
The last two digits show which class within that series the card is.
x50 = entry/value model
x60 = standard performance
x70 = high performance
x80 = premium performance
x90 = two premium-performance chips on the same card

Ti is a slightly better version of the non-Ti chip.
Between series performance usually moves up by one, so the entry-model of the 10xx-series is likely on par with the standard-model of the 9xx-series.

You could pair up the 1050 with a low end skylake i3 and enjoy good quality smooth pc overwatch for cheap, or other low CPU powered games for sure.

I say that as an i5 6500 owner with a gtx950, I play overwatch above 60 fps with high settings, no jaggies and only about 40% of the CPU being used.

I like low wattage budget cards and it sounds like the ti model beats my 950 by 30% or more in performance.

Yep man, the 1050ti is a great value card. It's basically the 960 getting a $60 discount (30%). It almost makes me want to do a mini ITX build for my second home with an i3, and this.

Dunno if I'm up for spending over $200 for a Gpu, so maybe the 1050 ti may be a nice upgrade over my 750 ti. Still, I'm hoping to mod Skyrim remastered as much as possible, and dunno if this 4gb Gpu would have the grunt and the Vram to keep up; the 6gb 1060 is looking tempting.

There's something off about this chart....yeah, doesn't seem right. These 1050 cards would most likely perform below the 680. I guess we'll wait and see, but the 680 even beats the 960 in GTA V and Battlefield 4 on very high.

If I can fit a 750ti in my pc, the 1050 ti should fit as well? My pc is prebuilt dell, forgot the rest but I upgraded the card to a 750.

Why is the 280X so much higher than the 7970, when they are the same card? Unless that's that original 7970 and not the higher clocked revision.

Edit: Derp, just saw it had the GHz edition listed separately.

Also, for what it's worth, a 1060 and 480 would top this chart. 1060 3GB would be about equal to a 390, give or take depending on the game. 970 would be just below the 390, and the 470 would be just below that..

Is it possible the NX could use any of those two cards? Says nothing about GFLOPs though. hmm

Isn't the NX supposed to be portable? The power consumption on these cards is probably 10x what NX total power consumption.

I'm just going to say it on every page. It's worth saving a little extra for the 1060 which is significantly more powerful based on the theoretical performance.

Again for reference, there's good deal to be found on them all the time too.
I'd go with a 1060

This guys is $165 if you have masterpass. Otherwise $190.

There's been quite a few 6GB 1060 cards in the low $200 range though too.

Numbers mean something but you generally can't compare different generations (first digit) between themselves. 75% of cards in this chart are not on the market anymore so it very misleading to pile them into one column like this. 590 is two generations behind 780 and it's also a dual chip card with SLI issues.

Even the lower one should be faster than 680.

I'm still rocking a GTX 460 768mb that I got back in 2011 lol. Funny thing is that I did upgrade my CPU to a i5 6500 and my RAM to DDR4. But I still had no reason to pick up a new GPU since I never game anymore. That hasn't changed but I have a new reason to pick up a new GPU. I want to buy a 4k monitor around Black Friday and the old 460 doesn't support that resolution. I thought about getting the RX 460 but now that the 1050 and 1050 TI have been announced I think I will go with one of those two since I've always bought Nvidia cards. I just hope they also get a Black Friday sale to chip away at the price a bit.

Asked this in the laptop thread but nobody answered, so I'm asking here.

Do we know how the laptop version of the 1050ti will compare to the 960M? And is it worth waiting for over the existing 1060/1070/1080 line already available in laptops?

MSI launches GeForce GTX 1050 (Ti) Series

Plus the mini-ATX one above, TEN cards in total (stock/OC, 2/4 GB, etc). That's a lot of 1050s.

1050 should consume a bit less and be a bit better with DX12 games. Is it worth the wait? I don't know, depends on how much you need a new laptop.

I struggle to put aside the fact an extra 60$ would net you a RX480 despite what brand a person is inclined to. Unless if they are stuck with a gsync monitor.

Can't possibly chose to also forget those extra 60$ would put you inside the current performance trend from the amd side on the new api's, which is by no means a small thing to dismiss on account of what we are seeing today.

There are fairly better options on the market than the 1050 for what it costs now and specially for what it will be worth (both practically and monetary) a year from now.

Hmm. I should start saving for 1070, instead.

Its a much bigger step than the rx480 140$ -> 200$ (140$ ->370$), but the added value is still much greater than what you get for 140 with the 1050ti.

I would save for it, yes.

Really? What options? Considering that even 950 was competing with RX460 fine up till now. And for those wondering $109 and $139 are the prices of RX460 2 and 4 GBs respectively.

The 480 hasn't been that cheap for a long time now - the $200 reference 480 is long gone now, and the 470 has taken over that price.

i'd love to see the 1050 actually hit those price points, all the aftermarket cards seem to be £20-£30 more because they can.

Like seriously, I would love to see the 1050 have a £90 price like it should have for a card with basic fan cooling.

Seems likely that Nvidia was running the Intel graphics with single channel ram to get that framerate average.
Is Nvidia skipping the GT 900 series with the entire GTX10 series nearly released?

I have a GTX 950 and looking to upgrade for a while now..

1060 is too expensive in UK, think i'm opting for a MSI RX 470 8GB for £216, but I am curious about this card.

4GB 480s are hovering around $230 right now, and the 1050 is probably gonna get some stupid markups like literally every other card released this year, so he's probably on the money with that ~$60 price delta.

Are they saying I can get 9 FPS with no video card?

All current Intel CPUs include (bad) integrated graphics, so yes.

In terms of wattage it should fit. The 1050 Ti is probably also gonna be reasonably small, so that should work out.
Just btw. you are currently NOT having dual channel for your RAM. 1x8GB + 1x4GB doesn't work in DC mode. You'd need another 4GB or a single 8GB stick (and remove the 4GB in that case).
