Leaked Battlefield: Hardline gameplay

Capone Era Tommy Guns

Please tell me you have taken one of those to the range.

And tell me how amazing it is.

that aside, to all the people saying Police don't have Mraps and armored vehicles are crazy but the stuff they have on them in that video is ridiculous, and the helicopter was especially nuts.

I am laughing at this map pack for BF4, I was thinking of buying it on sale but I will probably just skip it entirely now since there are so many other games coming.

now it definitely looks like a BF4 mod. sad to think fans could've made something more interesting themselves.

can you add "beta" to the title. i had this thread confused with that trailer thread from last week.

there was a time when a couple guys working in a basement could give the world something like this for free. but that's not allowed anymore.

I hope it will play like BF4 when it comes to game mechanics. Makes it easy to switch between them and not having to re-learn the handling in a new game.

This is a worse "copy paste" than CoD. They can't afford to fuck this up.. if they do goodbye Battlefield.

I'm not sure exactly what you guys were expecting? You guys keep on saying it looks like a modded Battlefield 4 but it doesn't seem to be using a single asset (aside from weapons) from BF 4 from what I can see. But the map is urban and sunny, like Shanghai... erm ok.

You haven't seen any gameplay of the modes or any other maps, just some guy running around a map by himself.

It looks interesting.

But I wonder if there will be more life to the cities? It seems odd that it would be that quiet at the center of a big city. It would be kinda cool to see cars moving outside of the playable area.

Almost all the sound assets are reused. The Scout Chopper is just skinned into a Police Chopper. Movement is the exact same. The way the Bike moves is the exact same. Hell even some of the models throughout the map are the exact same.

The video did say that area of the city was in lockdown. Could be the excuse for no NPCs.

This looks disgusting. I hope this rehashed piece of shit will flop really hard.

I'm a Battelfield series fan and yes, sometimes I think they should move on and evolve the series further but this... This overused gameplay concept combined with how the mechanics of this game look like they were ripped out of Battlefield 4 is straight up horrible.

Yeah I think so. But there could be some life outside of the playable area. Just something to make it feel more authentic.

Battlefield city maps only feel like gaming arenas, not real cities in that sense.

After Dead Space failed to become the next COD, EA is squandering Visceral's talent on BF4 expansion packs. Aint that a bitch.
And that Star Wars game.
Really? I recall it being pretty grey, with some greens in the more open maps.
Some of the maps have plenty of blues and yellows. Others have oranges/reds. A few have white and green. And some are even brown and grey. The DLC maps were the most colorful maps.

This does make me miss the mods for the BF series. I spent so much time working on mods for 1942, Vietnam, and BF2 just to have them all go away when DICE and EA decided to go with the excuse that the tools were getting too complicated for modders to use even though it was pretty much about the new DLC era. It's ridiculous considering mods sold BF games to people who otherwise never would have played BF and it's not like the engines were extremely flexible yet people managed to make some amazing and unique games out of it.

When I see this video, I think we could have been playing a version of this years ago without paying $60. On one hand, I want to like this but on the other, I think there has to be A LOT more to this game if they're expecting people to spend $60 (excluding premium) after dealing with BF4 and EA's reluctance to spend decent money on servers to the point of breaking the game even more.

I much rather would have had this game separate of the BF franchise and without the shoe-horned vehicles and gear for a cops and robbers game and just give me a great shooter with some unique modes and the expected gear and vehicles (even that isn't needed). Hell, I was hoping that "25 to Life" game turned out to be amazing because I loved the idea and even the SWAT series is one of my all-time favorites and most missed. Why make it such a clone of BF when the setting lends itself to some great gameplay?

Now I'm not going to judge this game solely on this footage and I really do hope the other modes are unique, but I can't help but feel sad that this is so damn similar to BF4 when BF4 only started to run properly server-wise pretty recently.

The SP campaign seems to be the big differentiator here and there's no telling if that's good or not yet.

Maybe I'm just sad knowing this wouldn't pass back when mods were around since that made the developers step up their game as well. A lot of great ideas for the BF games came from their modders anyway.

So is this EA attempt at annualizing Battlefield now? It could be interesting I guess but it seems like the series is becoming less and less innovative and relying on gimmicks to keep it going. Hopefully they fix the multiplayer issues a lot faster then their previous game.

After this year we shouldn't be getting one until 2016 or 2017. They are rotating with Battlefront and (Medal of Honor?).
Titanfall.

So yeah 2017.

If this would have been 3rd person it would be much more interesting imo - maybe it feels different - but it sure as hell does not look different enough.

Titanfall was what I was thinking of. So yeah 2017.
Titanfall isnt part of DICE and was released this year with BF Hardline. It isn't confirmed that this wont be a yearly franchise DICE and EA Simply don't give BF enough content to last that long.

That's good I guess. I fear they are taking too many ques from COD though. I watched the gameplay and it just looked like a mod. I don't understand why this couldn't have just been dlc but I digress.

As much as I enjoy Battlefield, I think I may wait a while on this one. It looks like BF4 with a skin patch and some new game modes. If it turns out to be something new and refreshing I'll snag a copy later.

It could've been a mod that you could download on STEAM, but nooo. They wouldn't release the tools, so they could put shit like this down our throats.

Neither does every soldier have a regenerating parachute in real life. Getting rid of that would go a long way towards helping urban maps not be a fucking sniperfest.

That's the one thing I hate on BF4 at the moment, getting picked off by somebody just when you find that perfect hiding spot.

I'm interested in the single player because I don't see a lot of games on a 'smaller scale' like that, but it feels like I said the same thing about Call of Juarez: The Cartel.

Amazing to see the reaction to this compared to the leaked info.

Peoples expectations for this (a spin off of a now annualised IP (hell that's the bigger issue no one is moaning about!)) to be different from BF4 were way off. Of course it was going to be the same game again.

Battlefield 4 was the start of that.

Bf3 surely, no?

I really don't get this "it looks like a mod" stuff.

The game will have:

- A completely new singleplayer campaign with a fresh and unique scenario. This is NOT something modders can just do.

- New multiplayer modes with a different tone compared to previous Battlefield games.

- New maps which are influenced by SP locations.

- I assume they will have improved the engine and the game will be 1080p/60fps on PS4.

- And of course other stuff which is yet to be revealed, I guess.

So the game has a few models and sounds from Battlefield 4? Big fucking deal. What should they do? Scrap all the existing stuff and begin from scratch? Make new models for things like weapons and stuff? Why? They also don't change in reallife, and those models aren't bad. Jesus. It's not like they started development a few months ago and rush the game for a quick cash grab. If they are using existing assets, they have more time to work on other aspects of the game.
