I hope Major Nelson or someone from MS is reading this. ADD FREAKING FF-RW support for music. Jeez. It's not that complicated. CD players have been doing it for 20+ years.

Perhaps it's time someone made a music player in XNA...

I think it would be cool to be able to FF/RW with the right analog stick. If the music was time-stretched/compressed with the degree of input, that would be pretty sweet.

Not a bad, realistic list of additions. (XviD being the obvious exclusion for a lot of people.) Nothing terrible that I see-

* Smarter game settings - you can be messaged via publishers about new in-game content for your games

Oh no. I don't need a message every time a company posts up a new Gamerpic. (Alright, that's not technically "in-game", but it could be something along those lines.)

One thing that would be nice is if downloadable video content could support multiple languages and optional (soft) subtitles. Bring in the anime and foreign film crowds easily.

Do people really FF/RW through music tracks all that much? If so, why?

Some people seem really worked up about this, so I'm curious.

Listening to hour long podcasts only to try to resume it at another time, and not being able to leave off where you were?

Gotta be bullshit, IPTV doesnt NEED Tivo functionality, all the programming is on demand from the provider anyway.

yeah, s that football game is going to be available at all times? I think recording a sporting event or such is a need. Do some of you think before you post? An to the guy complaining how theirs no tv signal to the 360 for iptv..LOL..the signal is coming into the 360 over the nic via the internet. Go do some reading.

Deserves to be quoted multiple times. Anyone who is upgrading to an Elite, 120GB HDD, Falcon, etc will quickly notice all their DLC got raped. This should have been resolved with the Spring Update, dammit.

I assure you this is all fake.

1. The chat pad already works with he current software.
2. The Vision Camera doesn't have any firmware at all
3. IPTV Functionality is completely misunderstood by whoever made this up. It's not something you "add" to a 360. It's something your local cable provider delivers.
4. Xvid when pigs fly

It's also grammatically horrible.

Don't be so gullible people. I could tell within 2 lines that this was fake.

I visit Live Marketplace often, yet every single time, it spends ages downloading icons for games every single time I load a page. Can't we just cache this shit already? I have a hard drive, make use of it!

Same thing with my Live Arcade games. Can't I just have a last known good list to load rather than having to wait for it to check the validity of my purchases and downloads?

Um, how about making Private chats and connecting to games in Gears actually work again an update too. Nice list otherwise.

No, DivX isn't a possibility either. There's no fucking way Microsoft, or Sony for that matter, would ever support either codec because of the association with piracy.
DIVX is actually a strong possibility as there is a company associated to the codec. Much like iPod support for AAC, or even MP3. MS doesn't own either codec and has to license the codec.
MS could totally allow Divx Inc to make an Xbox 360 version of Divx that could be downloaded through the dash much like the iPod support.

Seriously people. I just went through every post and some of you think it might be fake? :lol

This is a completely fabricated list. Seriously. Everything on this is made up. Pulled out of someone's ass.

Wow.....just wow

lol. xvid support.

so fake.

we know some of those things are for sure coming but this is a dream list. aside from the XBLA tab, who the hell wants another tab?

The DRM issue is another valid problem, they promised to make a remedy for this before the elite came out, I had one HELL of a problem trying to use my xbla games while on vacation, always fighting to find some kind of internet connection. MS really fucked up there.

All I want is the ability to sort and group people in your friends list, and also put a note next to each friend so, for example, you can write what their GAF handle is so you know who on earth they are.

Why is this even on NeoGAF? It was posted on the xbox forums and with no source.

Give me the ability to delete games off of my gamercard, make the user interface a little faster, fix the drm and I'll be happy.

* Xvid support
that's when i smelled the bullshit

* Console will now recognise low Hard Drive space, will inform you immediately if can't download current item, will automatically download next available that is able
it already does this!

most monitors do that anyways. If they don't, then they suck.
I haven't found any 20/22" LCD that does that. If you see black bars on a screen, then that's usually the work of the video card, not the monitor. There's a setting in your video card drivers that allows the monitor to keep the aspect ratio (and add black bars), whereas the 360 doesn't have this setting (yet).

I wish my mass storage MP3 player would get its ID3 tags read. I dump all my music into a /Music folder and Rockbox handles the rest. Streaming from my computer is usually out of the question because I run Ubuntu mainly.

Xvid is open source so it has nothing to do with licensing. If anything, it's the codecs association with piracy that Microsoft would be wary of.

Uhm, no. IPTV set-top boxes comes equipped with a Windows CE-based GUI that was already shown running on the 360 last year. Obviously this latest dashboard (if its true anyway) will install the software into your 360, effectively making it IPTV-ready. What your ISP provides is the feed/content. They're (usually) not the ones making the set-top boxes (one i had was a Motorola), much less the software inside.

The hell's with all these misconceptions on IPTV in this thread anyway, geez....

if the next update doesn't fix the 100 friends limit (and by fix I mean remove), then its a total failure to me.
and by friendlist, of course I dont mean the msn
shit.

Hi Guys, well im my eyes xvid is divx and vica cersa hence.. i mean com on look at the name. Also this could be true as the iptv might use the divx format to stream.... as does virgin media i think.. you can tell witht he low quality on demand stuff

they are branched from the same code base, but far from 'the same'. They share lots of commonalities, but if something is encoded in the latest DIVX, you need the DIVX codec, not XVID, and vice versa.
Also DIVX is a licensable software suite, so you can license it for hardware. Much like MP3 with Fraunhofer license you see on majority of MP3 players, and other codecs. While XVID is GPL'ed, which makes it highly unlikely that any major hardware company would add full XVID support.

Top 5 things I want from this update:

1) 1680x1050 resolution support over VGA
2) 1680x1050 resolution support over VGA
3) 1680x1050 resolution support over VGA
4) 1680x1050 resolution support over VGA
5) 1680x1050 resolution support over VGA

QUOTED FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING TRUTH!!!

Damnit.

The one thing I want from this update is the ability to play Live Aware games (like Crackdown or Gears) in single-player while keeping background downloading on. It's a pain in the ass and MS just refuses to fix it, when it should be incredibly easy to do. Just let me turn off the Live Awareness of the game or something.

It wouldn't be a problem if everyone just used the same damn nickname everywhere. But, nooooo.. SmurfNinja2873 on NeoGAF becomes EliTeShadowRez1337 on Xbox live and JJHeadshotter26 on PSN.

They "pop up" coming on to Xbox Live and I'm like, "Wha? Who is the hell is that?". Not realizing it's just SmurfNinja2873 from NeoGAF. Why can't people stick to a single freakin nickname???

It's a pet peeve of mine... If you can't tell.

Why not just get friends with more memorable names?
I know damn well that when I come online every mother fucker on my friends list knows who it is.

AFAIK this is to do with people being able to join your Co-Op games, every game on the 360 is Live aware isn't it?

What does this mean? X360 can't work on a monitor with a native res of 1680x1050. I was kind of planning on hooking one up to just such a monitor via VGA cables...

No it just means that it can't support the particular res of 1680x1050. You can use non-16:10 resolutions on a 16:10 monitor which causes the image to stretch and the quality/colors to degrade. Some monitors have built-in aspect ratio. You can definitely use the VGA cables on your monitor, just can't use 16:10 resolutions.

There is lots of simple no brainer stuff they haven't done yet. MS is a big corporation with a lot of red tape and hoops to jump through to get anything done. They have to keep everything within certain size limitations etc. They do a good job with updates but this best be a beefy one.
