LEEERROOOOY JEENNKIINSS!

So many good memories from classic WoW. Even though the game is still doing pretty well, the WoW movie scene sure isn't what it used to be.

A few favorites,

- Onyxia raid wipe (the best)
- Leroy Jenkins
- The World of Roguecraft series
- Zinwrath and illegal danish
- Drakedog
- The first Pat PvP (this video made so many warriors want to be like him, lol)
- Grim Total Annihilation

Remember the day it happened lol

Still funny even if staged.

Best classic Wow vids are leeroy,Moar dots and Frost shock lol

Obviously staged but still so funny.

world of roguecraft, there are like 4 or 5 of them. Rogues were gods back in the day, I used to be able to do that all the time. Mind you some of the fights were staged as well

RIP barman shanker. I used to kill other 60's in the other faction's auction house. Cold blood(?) bug was amazing, two hits is all it took.

Genuinely never 'got' Leeroy Jenkins. Like, yeah...

I only ever dug two meme-y WoW gags - this insane Toyota ad, and "well timed mace-stun."

Get top decked?
"Well timed mace-stun."

It starts to rain halfway through a jog?
"Well timed mace-stun."

A S3/S4 warrior misses four consecutive pummels but manages to lock you down anyway?
"ASFJLKHSAFJSAHFASJKFSAFJKSAF FUCKING WELL TIMED MACE-STUN ASSHOLE!"

EDIT: Big Blue Dress is my favourite classic PvP vid. Soooooooo catchy.

Re-Watching it today I was very underwhelmed... I always knew it was staged but it didn't really age well...

More Dots on the other end is, in a way, even more funny than back then because the super old Flash animation really didn't age well and is a bit of a time capsule in of itself.

this was never funny imo.

the only wow vid i fondly remember was that parody where the devs talk about pvp after the pvp contest. i think i watched that countless times.

Life and soul of the party eh? :)

If this really was staged - wouldn't one of the party owned up by now?

Regardless - love it.

I never understood how something so racist became so beloved :-/

I remember reading an explanation of how this came about - some white guys in the guild were just doing racist things.

This always seemed really obvious to me but every time I bring it up people call me crazy.

They did. Years ago.

No one would do what leeroy did in the video. PALS4LIFE was one of the top raiding guilds on their server. The video came with a post trying to explain to not be like leeroy. It was staged.

I am finding it shocking people can't or don't want to accept it was staged. Old wow player, i was around when it first came out, it's staged, you can believe me

Been 12 years already, fuck.

Loved this video along with that raid wipe and the assholes raiding the funeral for the real life player that died.

thanks for the info :)

Man, I can't believe this is that old. Funny then, funny now. WoW has changed so much, if I had not actually played the whole time I wouldn't even think it was the same game anymore.

Story time kiddies.

Many years ago I was at E3, I believe this was the final E3 that Blizzard had a presence at. As I was walking past their booth I overheard a couple of attendees discussing Leroy Jenkins. I asked if they were aware that his name had just been used on Jeopardy recently. They nodded and said, "Yeah, but if you want to talk to him, that's him right there." They pointed over my shoulder and standing right behind me was Leroy. He smiled with a little wave, and then with a big grin said, "Watch this." He proceeded to belt out his signature line and sprint a path right through the Blizzard booth, quickly turning around once he reached the other side, head darting back and forth, with a giant smile, looking for any reactions. The one reaction he got was a couple of Blizzard employees looking up from their computers, one just shaking his head and then turning back to his computer. They probably were unaware that it was actually him, and just thought it was some random fan. Leroy then slumped forward, smile melting away, shrinking to roughly half the man he was just moments before. I had never seen someone with a look of such dejection in my life. Hi-larious.

Leroy if by some random happenstance you ever see this post, hit me up at the next E3 you're at and I'll buy you a drink.

World of Roguecraft is still GOAT.

Maybe I was young but it felt way less fake back then.

Thought it was fake when if first came out considering some of the gear they were wearing would have required them to have finished UBRS already. But then, less than 50% of players would have been aware of that at the time.

Edit: I meant staged not fake.

I always thought the joke was supposed to be how everybody treats the raid like a military operation. They actually do manage to successfully pull off most of their "strategy" and end up getting rekt anyways.

No, it's not. People just doing post hoc shit. Just because he's got chicken?

Granted, the character is black. That said, he'd been running (and continued to run) that same character for ages and as far as I know it was never used as a joke anywhere else, so it may well be that he didn't really mean for it to come off as racist.

Either way, I don't think it's at all unreasonable to assume the worst.

yeah it is. Wasn't funny the first time. The 'at least I got chicken' is the thing that still irks me to this day. Internet culture gives no effs.
Hah, I always thought he said "At least I'm not chicken" which makes a great deal more sense.

Meanwhile I'm not convinced, if it was ever intended as a racial caricature, that the internet ever saw it that way:
