Leo Laporte is bringing back the Screen Savers

In the age of 4ks and smartphones and smart watches and smart-every-fucking-thing, a modern-day techTV would have been a huge hit. Curious how Screensaver's format is affected today.

Leo's at his best when he is with John C Dvorak because then Leo doesn't have to be the main source of entertainment. Plus John trolls the living fuck out of him haha.

I found an old episode on youtube and found myself 45 minutes into it before I realized it. November 1999....I just bought my fucking brand new Dreamcast two months earlier. Nostalgia all up in this.

I assume they had to do something since so many of the people that made TWiT.tv what it was are now gone. I really enjoyed the original SS and will give this one a shot.

As for Leo, I think he might be one of the most live-filmed people on the Internet. I can cut him some slack for few off-colored comments over the years.

Leo seems like the kind of guy who thinks he's hilarious, telling "OMG did he just say that?" types of jokes, but he comes off as just being an offensive dick.

Oh yuck, just saw that 11-minute video. Wow. I knew he's had his moments in the past but had no idea just how regular he did shit like that, or how recently he's continued to do so.

Sarah Lane deserves so much better. I wonder if she'll eventually leave TWiT for Tom Merritt's show or start something else entirely on her own?

looks like you don't know the full story. Sarah Lane still likes Leo despite his issues. they both respect each other. She quit last year to join TechCrunch but she comes back ocassionary for special shows with Leo

Bumping this since it's live now. Lots of talk about Tesla Energy so far. Interesting stuff.

Patrick's laying the smackdown on 802.11n, lol. The gloves are off. He's right; it's like the Windows Vista of wireless. G or AC are the way to go, skip N.

Happy to see this back :) I remember having my friend's name read on TV after he was sick, really influenced a large portion of my life.

I'm really enjoying this so far, but I haven't watched much of TWiT despite knowing about it for years, so maybe it's nothing special these days.

So.. apparently on a recent show Leo was importing pictures or something on his iPad and you could see a thumbnail of a dick pic. TotalDrama has an article on it with video of it happening. Pretty damn funny.

Also, they are getting rid of the chatroom and are no longer going to be livestreaming the behind the scenes stuff.

There was recently a mistake they did where they were discussing how much they pay a Windows Weekly host and their mics were on. No doubt this is one of the reasons.

It does have good video evidence though, I'll give it that.

I cannot believe that Leo is shutting down the live stream. What an awful decisio.

The awful decision was having a dick pic on a device he was showing on air. What an idiot, and a creep. And it's not even a good pic; why would you send that to someone?

Well yeah, that was dumb.
I was mainly talking the grand scheme of things.
The live stream is pretty important to the network and I think shutting it down is a terrible decision.

edit: But this network has been on a downturn for at least a year now so whatever.

I haven't watched a TwiT stream in... years, I think, but I'm a bit shocked that the sleaze in the Leo videos people have posted. It's one of those moments were I don't understand the cognitive dissonance where people will continue to support him.

I got into listening to podcasting because of one of his really early episode where he had a lot of the early Apple employees on TwiT. And, it was so early that I got him confused with some jackass on CNN with a little similar name. It's amazing how strange things were over a decade ago.

What a mess. Like the recent Denis Dyack info and him supporting hate groups, I don't understand the rationale of people who continue to support people, and their limits of "reasonable doubt" or what-have-you. Sometimes you should just move on.

I always meant to resubscribe to TwiT. Now, I won't.

Wasn't he just bragging about how TWiT's mobile presence would be non-existent without the passionate community creating the apps for him? How exactly does he expect that community to grow or stay as strong as it has without the chatroom?
