I don't really see him in any part of this...He needs to play the bad guy for once. Playing a maverick cop (al pacino) or a by the book cop will wither be just a copy or waste of him. He's done it all before.
he also already played the villain you love to hate (in django) so a waingro type of role is not interesting.

Actually seeing maccauley and his team coming back from war unable to adjust to civil society and starting to walk the criminal path seems very interesting to me. But how can you find a young actor with enough charisma to play young deniro ? And of course pacino character would not be seen so you'd have to create a new cop character that is not a copy of Hanna but still interesting...What a bizarre film to make a prequel.
What a conandrum, i can't fathom how much of a daunting task it is to write the script for this one.
