Lesson learned today: Don't order lawn mowers online

Seems to be a common problem.

I can't find it right now (might have been for a different model) but someone said the way they ship all the weight is on the wheels so a clumsy forklift operator could definitely damage it by dropping the box.

I didn't see that on the model I bought...but thanks for linking. I'm looking into getting a new wheel and repairing it, but Amazon went ahead and gave us a full refund since it was a non-returnable item.

So even if something else turns up damaged, it will have been a good mower for cheap.

I ordered a $400 lawnmower from Amazon. It worked fine. It just wasn't as powerful as I wanted it to be. Contacted them, they just said "dispose of it responsibly" and refunded me.

Thanks? I offered to send it back, but they said no.

Holy crap, they've done this for me with small items but I had no idea they'd do it with something that expensive.

Update (because these threads never get updates)

Mower is at a local repair shop. Amazon fully refunded it and now we're basically getting a new mower for cost of repairs which will be great. I'll be mowing in about a week or so...heavy volume season for the repair shop.

Glad to hear that they made everything right (and better even). It's sad to say it, but that's not the common result these days.

I'm careful now with ordering big ticket items from amazon. I got a notice that I was abusing their return policy when they kept sending me defective shit. I went through five kindles that had dust under the screen and a set of headphones where one cup didn't work. Now if I can get something from a store I will. Their customer services is great, but only up to a point.

No, you just sound like someone who abuses return policies.

They are very understanding and lenient and I am glad they stop people from abusing the policy. Would be a shame if people ruined it for the rest of us, like how it tends to be for a lot of great things.
