Let's talk about a huge PS4 flaw: no startup sound - it's unacceptable

I miss them making an effort for them. The Vita also lacks one. PS1/2/3 and PSP all had sounds for both boot up and disc start (until they took out the disc start jingle from PS3).
 
I... I actually agree with this. All videogame systems should have a distinct startup sound. Like an implicit standard every platform holder should follow :lol
 
You guys joke but it's seriously weird how it doesn't have one. All video game consoles have a classic start up intro. Why did Sony feel the need to not include one this time?

Lack of imagination without Kutaragi?
 
I was really bummed out when i heard there's no unique/quirky start-up sound for PS4 like all the other Playstation consoles. I'm serious when i say they really should add one (have it selectable or something at least).

For real, it sucks that it doesn't have one...
 
I welcome the no sound. Its one of the reasons I hate having a fucking Macbook. I have to sneak it out of the room to start it up if my ol' lady is sleeping.
 
It doesn't have a tune on the logo screen, but it DOES have a little jingle right as the main menu loads...

On a similar note, I was a tad disappointed that the power-on beep was exactly the same as the PS3. :/
 
The PS4 is very straightforward in many ways.

When they ditched Kutaragi they seemed to also lose all of the eccentricity, some of which was actually pretty charming. Like the insane clock crystals and cityscape-saved-files of the PS2, the seasonal color tints and symphony startup of the PS3... the PS4 doesn't fuck around at all. Which is mostly a good thing, but it lost a bit of personality relative to the others.
 
This thread....the responses have me literally laughing gout loud...

I cant remember if this was even an issue for me. Although the start up sounds do help me know if there are any sound issues quick.

While its obviously not gutting, surely it shouldn't be too difficult to add in. Does seem like a rather bizarre design decision to omit something like that.
 
Offer up the classics on PS Store please, Sony.

I'd impregnate a woman and offer up the newborn as payment.

but if we did that, then it wouldn't be as funny for people who can tell. no can do. there's also the meta game of pretending to take it seriously, which would also be impacted.
 
I wanted a ps4, but then I discovered that Sony doesn't sell a multitap for wired local multiplayer.

There's just a point where I have to say enough is enough. Stop taking features away from us Sony.
 
Sounds like a good thing to me. I mean, the sound is novel, but most of the time it's just a nuisance and way too loud because I've left the volume high after watching TV or something.
