Let's talk about a huge PS4 flaw: no startup sound - it's unacceptable

As silly as this in, it's not really true either lol.

It beeps when you turn it on and then has a whoosh sound. Not much but it's still a start up noise.

The travesty for me is how the consoles shits its pants whenever the power goes out and it's in standby mode. Only my Sony consoles will freak the fuck out and take forever to start up again.

Thread duly noted.

edit: I actually agree with the OP so I'm punting this one up. PS4 needs iconic startup sound.

>_> I agree, but it's not really something I'd put much time into guys. Maybe just an option for the other 3 PS startups for now.

I really miss it to be honest. The startup sequences hold a lot of nostalgia for me when I think back on consoles I loved.

I'm sure mine has a start-up sound that isn't just a beep... It has like... A chiming sound, right? Am I imagining things?

It boggles my mind that these companies release expensive brand new systems that don't have mandatory accessories (like media remotes) or all the same apps/features that were on the previous system.

That said, while the lack of a startup sound is strange and not ideal, it's far from the most lacking feature on the PS4.

IMO it's backwards compatibility.

Backwards compatibility, though, is much harder to achieve when the platform architecture changes. There are rumours that native PS1 + PS2 backwards compatibility is comnig, while PS3 sees some form of backwards compatibility through PlayStation Now.
