Let's talk about Crackdown - or how awesome it is

The ONLY good thing about this game is the Jump and Orbs, everything else from STORY, Shooting, Driving totally SUX. The other great things about the game are how well the city is made, how well the graphic style shinessss ... the rest is weak but it was really fun to just jump around and look for orbs.

I enjoyed the exploring and shooting elements, but found the driving and mission elements to be rather weak. The boss fights in particular were ridiculously simple - just stand still and keep shooting and they're dead. And since these bosses were the main focus of the game, well, that was just absurd. Still, orb-collecting was a blast.

the online co-op is where this game came to life.
driving was horrible, agreed..

I remember having zero expectations about that game and then actually playing at the Game Convention in Leipzig in 2006. The game was already very polished and I was floored by how good it looked and how smooth it was. Then when I got the preview build I actually wrote quite a few "blog" entries on the the game's official topic because I was having soooo much fun just looking for the orbs and stuff. And I usually hate writing.
That's how great this game was, even though it needed a better storytelling.

Hands down, this is the most fun I've had with a game this generation.

Honestly, I think the game would make for a terrific film adaptation. One of my goals in life is to write/direct films (I already have one under a belt even though it's just a trailer I made for a final) and if things work out well where I'm lucky enough to create Crackdown film, I would approach Real Time Worlds to work on it with them. Well, that's if they're up for the idea, of course. :D

It's got everything: an interesting twist at the end, an awesome cast of heroes (even though they lacked personality in the game, that's something that could be worked on), and the various locations of Pacific City would allow for some really cool battles.

Is it possible to transfer saves from the 360's HDD to a memory stick and the transfer it to a different console? i played in on my brothers 360 and passed where i was in my own game....... by a whole island.

So I recently fired this up, having played it back when it was released very briefly (and by that, I had one achievement from then, which was taking down one of the gang underlings).

This game is soooooo bad ass! I love how you can control your progression, and how it ramps up nicely. I love kicking dudes to death, and when you start out it takes quite a few hits to get them dead, but get up to 3 stars in strength and suddenly your one-hit killing fools, launching them 20 ft. with each flying kick!

I went ahead and purchased the DLC as well. Love the Lobber gun, and the buggy car is awesome as well. Over the weekend I took out the Los Muertos and now I'm over in Volk land. Not sure who's harder, Volk or the Chinese, but I opened up a Volk under-boss before ever going to their island so I figured the game was pushing me that direction.

Awesome, awesome game.

No, what made crackdown great is that there was an orb up there.

Indeed, there was so many you could be pretty safe in assuming that there indeed was an orb up there. :)

If it looked difficult to climb, most often you would be rewarded.

The Agency SUV being able to climb buildings is also another fantastic thing about this great game

Couldn't stand the music though,so I turned it off

Fuck yeah the game was awesome, and awesome achievements, i remember playing co-op, we forced a vehicle into a building with an elevator, me and my friend got in the car, and suddenly an achievement pops up lol, something about getting this high in a vehicle.

Then we reach the rooftop, we both get in and drove of the roof, flipped allot and stuff, also an achievement:lol

Tons of fun, and it feels/looks good in general.

If anyone is up for some co-op, or simply just doing our own thing in the same city, feel free to hop in if you see me online. I'll be playing the hell outta this game for weeks I'm sure.

...and the enemies were offensively generic.

All the more reason to kick the shit out of them, no?

Oh, and climbing the Agency Tower is the greatest gaming moment so far this gen. Feels so fucking good to finally get up there.

Yeah, just got that achievment last night. Then I boned the jump off of the damn thing by landing on the pavement.

I'm trying to get back into this game (huge backlog), and while I love how it plays, I just don't like the way the missions are set up, and how the story progresses; it's too "loose" and non-linear for me (though I can imagine that for a lot people, this is probably one of the game's strengths).
