"Jitsu ni omoshiroi..."
Awww yea, he's back!!! The new detective is really charming, don't know if Galileo and her will have a nice chemistry yet but I'm looking forward to this season.

It's a detective drama starring a gullible female detective and a physics teacher.
Really great and clever cases, nice amount of humour despite the genre. Definitely worth watching.

TAKE FIVE 1
20 years ago, Masayoshi (Toshiaki Karasawa) was a member of a heist group named "TAKE FIVE". His father was also in the group. Now, Masayoshi lives an ordinary and honest life, working as a college psychology professor. One day, he receives a picture of a Leonardo da Vinci painting from a mysterious homeless woman. The women tells Masayoshi that the painting is stored in the security warehouse of Toto Bank. She seems aware of Masayoshi's past as a thief.
Masayoshi curious whether the painting is really stored at Toto Bank, gathers 5 colleagues and reforms "TAKE FIVE". The group decides to work under the policy that they will only steal highly valuable items from evil people.

Great first episode. I like the characters (and the actors) so far, cool to see Yasuko Matsuyuki in this drama.
Pretty straight-forward first episode but it still managed to keep me entertained from start to finish. Hopefully the whole season delivers.

Just watched this since I can't find the second week of Amachan and it was good. Really, really liking the soundtrack they're using in this drama. Thanks to this drama, going to be listening to Take Five all day.

Kazoku Game 1
Sakurai Sho stars in this troubling drama as the private tutor Yoshimoto Koya. Koya becomes a tutor to a student, Numata Shigeyuki, an underachiever on the verge of dropping out of middle school. Expecting immediate results, Shigeyuki’s father makes a deal with Koya that if he could make Shigeyuki return to school within a week, he would receive a 100,000 yen bonus. Koya accepts the offer, replying that he would only need 5 days to complete the mission but demands that no one should interfere with his methodology in doing so.
A handsome face with a reckless mouth, Koya is a wacky unpredictable pro tutor. How will he save Shigeyuki, a boy who has been bullied in school, betrayed by his best friend, and become a shut-in at home? How will he educate Shigeyuki to change his ways? What is Koya’s motivation in teaching? Koya’s "education" is nothing like anyone has ever imagined. You just have to see it yourself to believe it!
Ok so Sakurai Sho as the teacher is perfect. The character is nuts, some stuff is really fucked up. Dude throws the kid into a shelf, pushes the mother...
The first episode was mostly here to introduce his methods but was still entertaining.
Some of Sakurai's faces and shticks were hilarious.

Looking forward to the other episodes.

Sennyu Tantei Tokage 1-2
Tokage and his assistant help the First Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police Department with difficult and unresolved cases. He used to be a normal police detective working at the First Investigation Division, but one day he lost his partner because of a grave mistake. After this incident he quit his job and got hired by a private detective bureau that helps the police with secret undercover investigations.

So... the two episodes I saw were entertaining. Tokage is a pretty cool character, it'll be fun to see him and his assistant impersonating people.
Matsuda Shota (Tokage) is, as usual, not really expressive but it fits his character.
The show looks pretty bad though, even by Japanese dramas standards :lol
Tokage's fall from the roof was cringeworthy, it looked sooooooo terrible :lol
Still, I'm liking it so far!

Hey Kurita have you watched anymore Kazoku Game?

I'm enjoying the antics of Yoshimoto and his interactions with the rest of the family. I mentioned before I'm not big into dramas, but this is one I plan to keep up with.

Just finished episode 3 and looking forward to next week.

Well, AFAIK only the first episode has English subs so far. Since I don't really speak Japanese I have to wait for them, so, no :p

35 Sai no Koukousei 1
iiGSdmvAlzMj5.jpg

‘35-sai no Koukousei’ is a socio-critical school drama set at an all-day senior high school. It follows a 35 year-old woman who enters the school as a student in order to fight against the dark sides of present-day junior and senior high schools. The biggest problem is a phenomenon called ’school caste’, which means that students rank each other in terms of popularity and look, which naturally creates some kind of hierarchy. This ranking leads to more problems such as bullying and playing hooky.

She hates it when students pretend not to see the difficulties of one of their classmates or blame someone else for the problems they are dealing with every day. Thanks to her age and experience in society, she can help the students to solve their problems and acts as an an older student they can rely on.

The drama depicts how she is gradually changing the students as well as the school in general.

Pretty entertaining first episode, liking the characters.
It's pretty classic, if you've watched/read any manga/anime/drama set in a school you know what to expect. Asshole students, nerds...
It's still interesting to have an adult as a student as she already knows how school is, thus she can advice her fellow classmates.

And... Not gonna lie, Yonekura Ryoko with the uniform and all is pretty hot

I've been meaning to ask: What are some good series featuring Honoka, and series featuring Jiro Sato and Shin Takuma. Honoka I know appears in Akibaranger, whereas Takuma and Sato were in The Hero Yoshihiko series.

I haven't watched anything for a couple of seasons. I'm just getting into Galileo 2 now and...what the bait and switch?! Is there some reason they got rid of the main actress after episode 1? O_O

I mean, I know her replacement is a big star and all, but still.

(By get rid of, I mean that she's not the one investigating with Galileo; I have no idea if she's still on the subsequent episodes in some sort of co-star or guest star role)

They just wanted to introduce a new, rookie detective. I think I like her even more than Utsumi.

Gonna marathon Biblia Koshodou for the next few days and try to finish it. What should I watch after it? I'm thinking of either Rich Man, Poor Woman or Sunao Ni Narenakute.

Rich Man, Poor Woman is my favorite out of the two you mentionned so I'd go with that.

Just finished Last Cinderella - It was pretty freakin good, around 3/4's through I was getting annoyed with some of the main character's personality traits, but the last 2-3 episodes were so good, that I was sucked in again.

Anyone looking for a romantic comedy, should definitely check it out.
The last episode just aired, so it seems this season is coming to an end?
I assuming the summer season starts sometime soon?

Anyway, are there any recommendations from this season?
Anything to look forward to next season?

This season : Galileo S2, Take Five and 35-sai no Koukousei were quite enjoyable. I have yet to watch Soratobu Kouhoushitsu.

Next season, I'm only interested in these ones :
Summer Nude (mostly because Toda Erika is in it)
Gekiryuu ~ Watashi o Oboeteimasuka?
Hanzawa Naoki
Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo

Thanks for this! 35 year old high school student? If so, that sounds like a funny one .

Only Kazuko Game is worth watching this season. Galileo S2 is such a step down from Season 1. Hope Legal High S2 doesn't disappoint when it airs later this year.

Everyone watch Shinzanmono.

Abe pretty much carries that series. Other than him, it's a mediocre series.

Nope. Amachan>>every drama this season. Can't believe no one is talking about it even after months it has been released. It's one of the top dramas in Japan(always hovers above 20%. One of the songs featured in the drama only had like 100k views but now it's at 999k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU7sRpcdSE4. People admitting that it's because of Amachan, they found it.). Come on gaf.

I was around episode 56 but I had to put it on hiatus due to summer classes. However, planning to marathon it on July 4th to catch up.

I'm sure nobody talks about it because it's not subbed.

Pretty much. I'm still waiting on episode 9-10's of a bunch of shows from last season that ended weeks ago. Can't really pick up the new shows until I've finished the previous ones and I'm fairly sure the subbing group is going to come through.

Which surprises me more. Of all the dramas, this hasn't been subbed which it's shown to be a higher production than most dramas(no cringe worthy acting!). Hopefully there's a group that is willing sub it for the rest of the community. Don't think there is at the moment still(?).

Namonaki Doku - Looks average all around. Won't pay attention to it unless there is something I'm missing.
Summer Nude - I will watch it cause of the name, but I know nothing else about it.
Kyumei Byoto 24 Ji 5 - Is this the 5th entry in the series? I don't care about doctors shit either way.
Starman ~ Kono Hoshi no Koi
- I guess I will watch it.
Gekiryuu ~ Watashi wo Oboete Imasuka? - Intriguing concept, will watch.
Keishicho Sosa Ikka 9 Gakari 8 - No
Woman - Writer of Mother? Will watch for sure.
Shomuni 2013 - Is this good?
Kyoto Chiken no Onna 9 - No
DOCTORS 2 ~ Saikyo no Meii - Don't care about doctors drama shit
Pin to Kona - A drama about cute boys? Will watch.
Oh, My Dad!! - Sure, will watch.
Naruyouni Narusa - Isn't that the mom from Freeter?
Keibuho Yabe Kenzo 2 - No
Saito-san 2 - Maybe
Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo - I hate this for existing, I hate the asshole that decided to adapt this as a drama, and I hate myself for watching it.
Hanzawa Naoki - Will watch.

Can't say I've seen any J-Dramas but I have seen a live action representation of Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.

If I remember correctly it was pretty good and had some pretty good acting in it, though they didn't make the crazy cat eyes as intimidating as they did in the anime. I think it was an hour long shot film or something, I might have to give it another watch.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
With the wife back home she's been telling me about some of these shows.. wish Aya would stop doing the super serious shit. Feels like yesterday I was watching Shimokita Sundays..oh god that was so long ago now. Anyway I decided to run through 35-sai from last season and I haven't seen such a heavy handed script in a while. Talk about beating scenes to death with a large stick. Luckily for Ryoko I had fond memories of her during the Hunter media tour. I'll watch anything with Yamapi but why oh why did they put Toda Erika in there. Why can't they just make a new Nobuta. =/

Now that Galileo S2 is over, I can finally say that S2 was WACK. Step down from season 1. Don't see myself coming back for S3 if they ever make one.

Anyways moving on. Summer Nude Ep 1 was alright, didn't find the characters annoying so that's good. May come back for more.

Galileo is fuckin garbage. Ugh, the writing was so bad. Summer Nude is surprisingly good. I've never liked Karina in any capacity before but she's oddly endearing in this one, and Erika is blowing my mind with how much her acting has improved since shit like Kizuna or Code Blue. Maybe it was the haircut.

I've watched the first two episodes of Woman and I have to say that it's pretty good so far. It's less depressing than Mother but still gives you "the feels".
I'm a bit surprised that they chose an upbeat song by androp as the theme song though, it doesn't really fit the show :lol.

First episode of Gekiryuu was alright, though it looks sooooo cheap. That's NHK for you I guess.

Still have to watch Hanzawa Naoki and Summer Nude.

Finally got around to watch Legal High, I can highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys the Ace Attorney games or great comedies with a serious tone when it matters in general. I'm not sure if it's a realistic take on the courtroom action or just a parody of other stories because every time a feel good or heart-warming moment occurs, you can be sure that it got staged by the magnificent bastard of a MC in order to protect his winning streak.
Seriously, when someone else is the best character in a drama with Yui Aragaki, he or she must have done everything right in my book.

Hattori deserves to be mentioned as well for being the most perfect butler anyone could ask for. One word of warning, there are tons of food porn in this, never watch it when you're hungry.

Bring on S2.

Might as well post my first impressions on Hanzawa Naoki and Summer Nude.

Hanzawa Naoki 1
Hanzawa Naoki works for Tokyo Chuo Bank as the head of the Loans Division at their Osaka Nishi branch. The overbearing branch manager, Asano, forces him to award an unsecured loan of 500 million yen to Nishi Osaka Steel. On the surface, Nishi Osaka Steel seems like a very reputable company, but in actual fact it is a company in deep trouble. Debt-ridden, the company accountants resort to window-dressing the financial statements in order to hide the truth from the public. Three months after the loan, Nishi Osaka Steel goes bankrupt and the ambitious and power-hungry Asano makes Hanzawa the scapegoat for the 500 million loss. Hanzawa is called to Tokyo to answer to the internal investigations team, where he vehemently denies responsibility for the loss, and swears to recover the 500 million yen. That is the only course of action for Hanzawa, if he wants to survive in the banking industry.

A really solid first episode. It was 1 hour and a half long but man, it was just great from start to finish.
It did a great job introducing the main characters and explaining the whole situation. We know where the show is going and I simply can't wait to watch the next episodes.
The setting is great, I'm not used to shows about banks/money but I'm already hooked.
Sakai Masato is a great actor, and I know I won't be tired to see him. It's also great to see Oikawa Mitsuhiro, I love that guy. Overall I'd say that all the actors are good, the cast is diverse, though Ueto Aya, while super pretty, feels a bit out of place ...
Could be my favorite show of the season if the other episodes are as good.

Summer Nude 1
Mikuriya Asahi works as a photographer for weddings and school events in a sea side town. Chiyohara Natsuki works at a famous Italian restaurant in Tokyo. On her wedding day, her husband-to-be jilts her, and as the photographer hired for the occasion, that is the first encounter between the two. A disillusioned Natsuki, decides to move to the same seaside town as Asahi, where she works as a cook at 「Aoyama」. She befriends Taniyama Hanae, who has been secretly in love with Asahi for 10 long years. Unfortunately for Hanae, Asahi only sees her as an old friend, and nothing more. Having found out about Hanae's love for Asahi, Natsuki encourages Hanae and gives her emotional support in trying to capture Asahi's heart. However, Asahi cannot forget his girlfriend Kasumi, who had suddenly disappeared 3 years ago.
An unforgettable love that is held on fast in the heart. With the power of summer, the heart is stripped bare and starts afresh for all three of them.
This was quite entertaining. It's not original at all but still, I really liked it.
I'm a sucker for shows/movies taking place near the sea, so I'm satisfied. The cast is great, I simply love seeing Karina, Yamapi and Toda Erika together, they have a good chemistry.
Cool to see Nagasawa Masami, she's way more likeable than she was in Last Friends, where I just wanted to punch her everytime she did something stupid. And she's pretty hawt with short hair.
Overall it was cool, and it's the kind of show that you want to watch during Summer.
