Fair enough, but the pic you posted does absolutely nothing to alleviate that opinion. I mean look at it.
.. ok I just watched some video. I can't agree, that game is ridiculous. I saw an action game with girls who have their clothes fly off. I also saw a girl juggling a bus with an umbrella. It ain't exactly "true to ninja form".
I consider Deus Ex to be a lot like Tenchu actually... or at least you can play it like that. Maybe the new Batman games too (grappling hook).
Mark of the Ninja is the best actual-sneaky-ninja game I've seen in many years. But this thread is about ninja costume designs....

My favorite --probably due to the sword handling style and being hand to hand specialist- Tatsumaru from Tenchu

Zero from Anarchy Reigns/Max Anarchy is pretty rad. Had some nice color options and cool moves.

Fair enough, you are perfectly right on this one. And, in fact, some of the official promo art for the games goes even further into dubious territory than that.
But the games itselves... entertain a weird balance, perpetually on the edge between comedy and drama. On one hand you have the comedy, the cute students, the risqué jokes. And on the other hand, you have a really dark worldview, tragic backstories (with some of the characters having lost as least one family member), talks about death, sacrifice, duty. The plots tends to be quickly really heavy. People die, but generaly in the background : red shirts, without faces. look at the name of the scenarist, btw.
Thematically, friendship versus duty (think Saint Seiya) is a recurring theme.
It's pretty uneasy to explain iy you haven't played the games itselves. I can't put it any other way than it's a sexy comedy set in a very serious world. It's weird. It's japanese.

If you think it's all about pretty girls and clothes being ripped, you are horribly wrong. Thematically, the franchise is way more faithful to the usual ninja tropes than one would expect at first.

For me there can be only one.
Been a hardcore Ninja fan since I was a kid in the mid-eighties and I feel most video game ninjas stray too far with their crazy costumes or lack thereof. Do like Ryu Hayabusa quite a bit tho because of the bad-ass games.

Ahhhh yes, I'm very fond of the ninja in videogames...my first one was probably Shadow and I always thought he was super cool and useful in a battle. My first time playing an arcade machine was with the newly released Marvel vs. Capcom and yeah Strider was dope. Fell in love with Alpha 3 and I found myself using Guy a lot. Yuffie is also a huge favorite of mine (I always use her in the party) and since I started to play Street Fighter 4, I actually fell in love with Ibuki's playstyle sooooo yeah, I use ninjas a LOT in videogames. I keep running into cool ones that I want to use.
Easily one of the funnest ninjas to play!

there haven't been a real good ninja game for a very long time. i mean ninjas in feudul japan. i don't know why nobody has even gone in that direction especially with current techs. ninja goes with video game like bacon and eggs.

His next game is Devil's Third. He recently confirmed it's still in development, but when we'll get new information is unknown. IMO, it's sad how Hayashi is ruining Itagaki's legacy. Ninja Gaiden 2 for the 360 was awesome. Being a ninja in a game doesn't get more badass than that.
The most recent good ninja game would have to be Mark of the Ninja. It reminds me a lot of Tenchu, except in 2D. Tenchu 4 was horrible compared to the first three games.
