Oh man this game was so painful to play, but so awesome! And what a coverart!

Well played!

Just to spoil everything I decided i'd try and find the most un-ninja like ninja possible and then I remembered this guy.

It's from Ace Attorney 2/Justice For All for those curious.

We used to play and like The Last Ninja I and II as kids, but even then the unforgiving controls and pixel perfect jumps needed in several places were painful. Those games were hard as hell. The music was great if I remember correctly, and together with graphics created a very good atmosphere.

there haven't been a real good ninja game for a very long time. i mean ninjas in feudul japan. i don't know why nobody has even gone in that direction especially with current techs. ninja goes with video game like bacon and eggs.

The closest you're gonna get could be the Total War: Shogun games by Creative Assembly. Deep RTS games on PC set in feudal time Japan. There's plenty of Ninja clans in that game.

Also the iOS game, Total War Battles: Shogun is a nice game. The Ninja class is the best character class in that game.

thread full of ninjas that never hide

smh

dressing like a stripper doesn't magically make you a ninja either. good job fighting game devs.
Ibuki not included

If you watched Batman TAS you'd know damn well Batman is a samurai, not a ninja.

We should talk about how much they suck. I think Tenchu is the only game I've played where stealth is important. That game is flawed though, even if enjoyable. What happened to actually being a ninja? I want some big ninja adventure where we have a protagonist with lots of classic ninja weapons, stealth, and set during the appropriate period of history. I want to actually be a ninja, stealth killing people in various ways, hiding on rooftops and inside buildings etc. Maybe mix in some fantasy to make it more fantastical. Half the clowns you find in video games are ninja in appearance only.

Hold on, let me ninja massacre an entire village. In the open, whilst I dance circles around my enemies, because that's how I ninja roll.

I love video game ninjas, especially the entire concept of the modern day "Super Ninja". Been watching my lil bro play Shinobi on PCSX2, that game is fantastic, hard as shit though.

If he hasn't been posted yet, shame on all of you who claim to be 'SNK fans'.
If he has then it's worth posting again cuz he's the most badass ninja SNK ever introduced
Zantetsu.jpg

How many of all these ninjas you all posted can rock a hat like that huh? huh?

Someone can explain this strange censorship in europe for "ninja" in the games titles?

I can't remember the specifics but i'm pretty sure that back then there was the impression that ninja stuff was too violent for kids and just considered too violent a thing in general, presumably we'd all end up playing ninja and throwing shurikens at each other.
So anything ninja related was altered.

And it will probably never be : way too complicated to market in the West, and probably not enough sales to be worth it. Shame, the game is fun to play, and the vita could use another exclusive for its (western) library.

It doesn't stop us fans from perpetually pestering editors with the idea, though :)
with any luck and enough time, who knows... ?

Since Shadow (and Interceptor!) from FFVI have been mentioned I say the ninjas from Shadow of the Ninja, among my favorite NES games ever!

Sam Fisher and Garret are more true Shinobi than 90% of those and that... well sicken me.

Batman is a Ninja by the tropes,

Ninja Raiden is all but a Ninja, it's more of a Swordmaster/Weapon Master (which 90% of those are).

My vote goes to Mark of the Ninja though.

I chose Eiji because he's Zantetsu's descendant lol

Oh I'm aware of that, but I feel like that was a 'last minute' addition to his background.
If only he could sport a pimpin' hat like zantetsu did i'd prob. like him more =/

Mark of the Ninja has taken the crown. 2D Tenchu and so much more.

Mini Ninjas

A great game.

Big levels, long story and gameplay is similar to the LEGO games.
You can switch between 4 characters, each with unique abilities.

60 fps too!

Yes yes yes! You just reminded me I never finished this game. It's kind of insane that this came from the creative minds of Hitman and Kane & Lynch.

The only true ninjas IMO are the characters who truly act like Ninjas like Rikkimaru from Tenchu.

As badass Ryu from Ninja Gaiden is, he acts nothing like a Ninja.

Came for Batman, and glad I wasn't disappointed.

Unmentioned ninjas from fighting games (maybe some repeats)
