It was the best film of that year. Hell it would have been best film of the decade if it hadn't been topped by Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.
But we all know Spongebob The Movie is the greatest thing to have happened within this decade so they're obviously wrong.

Well I can't speak for your friends, but yes, generally adults have a lot more important things to do than a) pretend to like or dislike something to be cool and b) give a shit about whether others are "posers".

Yea I hit the button before I could type the rest out but in a smallish city of 100,000 in rural Australia there are many people like this well into their late 20's.

I face these people all the time. Fuckin posers!

There's this guy who wears a Che Guevara T-Shirt evey other week to the class. I asked him why he chose to wear that T-shirt, what did he think about the man, etc. He told me "I like his music". I told him then, to play me his music. He played 2Pacs I aint mad at cha on his cell. I was smh the whole time.

The entire fascination with that jumped up petty murderous thug is ridiculous. He should be treated much more like Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahmer, a murderer that no one respects, because that's not far from what he was when alive.

You have to admit, that picture of Che looks pretty badass

2pac or Che?

This is like when myspace was boss and also going through high school a decade ago, everyone's favorite movies were apparently Memento, Requiem for a Dream, and Donnie Darko.

I bought a Joy Division T-Shirt before having heard them, but only because I liked the design and it didn't seem to have any branding. Then when people asked me if I liked Joy Division I said yes just so I didn't seem like the type of idiot that pretends to like a band. Luckily, it got me to check the band out and they're brilliant.

Fixed.

Who the fuck pretends to like Predator? It's an action movie. IT doesn't need YOUR approval. YOU need IT!

But many of Kurosawa's films are some of the finest ever made. I don't know, it's easy to grow over-cynical and see pretentious jerks where there are actually people with good taste who don't want to go through the rigmarole of elaborating on why they like something to an audience they perceive as being unlikely to sway on the quality of certain things or holding fundamental disinterest on the subject.

I did this briefly in my early 20's when I was trying to socialize myself in a new city.
However I found out it's far more hilarious and entertaining to do the opposite, pretend to dislike stuff just to give people shit. "Bob Dylan? Fuck Bob Dylan, I heard he touched a little kid."

How about all the people on GAF that pretend to have been Reagan Era 80's kids and yet nobody made a thread about the DVD release of the complete Max Headroom?

Or worse, all the people that pretended like Gary Coleman dying was tantamount to Princess Di. Yet when Daniel Shore dies there is jackshit in this cultural wasteland.

You all make me sick.

That response almost made me spit out my drink.
Obviously Che because 2pac is still alive

1. I didn't know it existed until just now... ordered.

2. Gary Coleman's death was a much bigger deal than Princess Di... I almost voted for him for governor in 2003.

This is basically a problem that evaporates when you leave high school for most people and when you leave college for most of the rest.
as long as you don't go into the entertainment or sports industries.

This is very very true.

In middleschool (80-ies)you could NOT love 60/70 music, that was for your OOOOLD parents.
However in highschool (90-ies) you HAD to love that 60/70 music.... so sophisticated, o how shit music from the 90-ies
Beginning of university (around 2000): Craving those 90-ies hits and happy hardcore, things were so simple then.
Now: Liking whatever the fuck you like, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 2000.
Pretty much sums it up.

Shit, I was guilty of it to some extent but I never went though the 90's craving, straight to whatever the hell about 2nd year of college

I am much more annoyed by those douchebags that have to state their "elitist" opinion on everything, like when i talk to someone about something "that" guy has to throw/force in their opinion and it is always bad.

Also, since when is commando "cool"? Or is it part of the Arnold is cool experience, and because it is so dumb people think it is cooL?

Because dat film is shiet!

If somebody was asked what music they liked and they answered something like Roy Orbison or Joni Mitchell, I wouldn't care about whether they genuinely liked the music or just pretended because that might give other people reasons to check them out and foster genuine interest and appreciation.
