Let's talk about Samurai Jack

I just love Samurai Jack!! I have all the DVD's and I even have the cheesy Gamecube game. I always show the episode to all of my nephews (I have like 6!) to spread the love for Jack.
The first episode I saw and still my favorite is The Blind Archer episode.

Bring back Jack!!

It's a surprisingly good show. I liked it when it aired and I was 14/15 maybe, but I watched some of it during the summer and it was still great. I had an Aku avatar for awhile 'cause he's the man.

I am still amazed that the voice of Samurai Jack was the guy who got shot in the face in Pulp Fiction. His name is Phil LaMarr, and he really came out of nowhere to become one of the juggernauts of the voice acting business. He is especially good as Vamp in MGS and the judge in Family Guy.

one of the few shows that i watch the entire opening title song, even if i have the option of skipping it. catchy as hell, animation is great, and does a nice job of summing up the show's concept in one little thirty second snippet. masterful.

Genny's shows have always had great opening titles.

the man is a god. i remember the first episode of DEXTER'S LAB i watched, i was so pleased that kids were still getting great cartoons, despite all the boohooing from us old fogies about the state of modern animation.

Even though animation styles changed a lot from the 80's to the 90's, they were still very expensive shows to make, so they made them for both kids AND adults.

Much of the problem this past decade is with the advent of digital and Flash animation, networks can now make tons of animated shows, and they make one for kids and one for adults, instead of one for both.

It's great for business, but if you are a kid and look back at the cartoons of your past, you won't be able to enjoy them very well and the nostalgia won't be able to find solid ground to stand on.

Except Star Wars: Clone Wars, which was so critically acclaimed and popular that it caused it's own series (which for some reason doesn't have him doing it).
No it sucked just the same.

Except for the pilot for Korgoth of Barbaria. I would kill to have that turned into a full series. But seeing as it's been four years now, I should probably give up the dream.
I never saw that, I would like too though.

I heard that the pilot for his last cartoon sucked, I don't remember its name though.

Speaking of Genndy cartoons, who remembers the awesome Dexter movie. Ended the series on a high note(And if you're thinking of the shitty badly animated different Dexter voiced abomination, it never existed)

Amen

Wait! Does anyone recall what episode had Jack shouting who else wants some? All I remember was he was quite literally kick everyone's arse. Curse my poor memory.

hell yea, I remember that. he took on a whole bunch of bounty hunters, even that lion dude from Dial M for Monkey. kicked so much ass, he just wanted someone else to fight. so Aku made a clone of him. when their swords clashed, the sparks set the forest on fire. realizing what he done, Jack calmed down and defeated his clone.

and did someone say Clone Wars sucked? how can the new series match this level of badass?

The best clone wars episode was the one with Red Trooper and his squad.

was that the episode where they had to take out that long distance cannon? I think it was the same section where Obi-Wan had to fight (and joust :D ) that tentacle bounty hunter.

Willy105 said:
Totally. That stuff is not canon. I don't think Genny was anywhere near those episodes neither.

Not only was it badly drawn and animated, the voices were horrible and the writing was even worse

I like that Crypto cartoon, The Saturdays right?

Chowder is great, and Flapjack is fucking phenomenal!

The Secret Saturdays is pretty good
Chowder is great if a bit immature (love the PPG cameos though)
Flapjack is fucking great
haven't seen Phenias and Ferb but I heard great things
Batman: The Brave and the Bold is amazing
Star Wars The Clone Wars is also great

Adventure Time with Finn and Jake should be good (done by the same studio as The Fairly Oddparents

The Regular Show's pilot was funny, should be good
Symbionic Titan, It's Grenndy. nough said
Generator Rex, looks better than Ben 10, but if they have the same writers, will be a disappointment

The top two are long gone by now.

But yeah, Flapjack is great.

And Clone Wars is better than most live action TV shows.

Adventure Time should also be good, but it hasn't premiered yet.

holy shit. watching Chowder right now and they just showed all the voice actors doing a car wash because they spent all the money in Truffle's money box. yep, Chowder is one of the better shows. :lol

I loved the episode where Jack fought the robot warriors. Each one had its own specialty.

Also the episodes with the scottish warrior, Awesome stuff.

The one where he had the big ass robotic arm? Oh man, that one was great. Or the one where he had to climb the massive mountain...

I didn't want to make another Jack appreciation thread, as this one is still not too old.

Just finished watching all 4 seasons and wanted to say this show is soo fucking good. They don't make em like this anymore.

Also....Jump good!
