Let's talk about the Big Cats

I like Leopards best. Not as powerful as a Lion or as specialist as a Cheetah and they have to compete with both in some areas i think? They don't move in groups like Lions either. Leopards have to rely on their wits.

Cheetah.

I got to meet and spend time with one at Australia Zoo. Amazing experience. I know they are a wild animal but sitting there and patting it, I could have easily hugged it, played with it like a house cat. It was so calm and friendly.

Love them.

All I see in the OP is some big ass meat that I wanna uppercut so badly. I'll uppercut a cat, let it uppercut me back, then uppercut it again, on and on until the one with the strongest, strangest battle aura wins. I'll take myself to the very limit!

how big is a lynx?

Lynxes are medium-sized cats. For comparison with the big cats and other medium-sized cats, here's a size chart, with the cats arranged by height at the shoulder from tallest to shortest (some of the weight ranges are a little inaccurate though):

The biggest lynxes are Eurasian lynxes (Lynx lynx), measuring up to 130cm in length, up to 75cm in height and weighing up to 30 kg (or slightly more in Siberia). Iberian lynxes, Canadian lynxes and bobcats are all smaller.

ohh and what about Ligers and other cross breeds?

Ligers, the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger, tend to be much more massive than either of their parents, and are the world's largest cats, sometimes weighing more than 400 kg. Tigons are the offspring of a male tiger and a female lion, and are much smaller than ligers, usually ending up around the same size as lions and tigers.

But yeah, neither are a proper species and they are more prone to having genetic defects.

Cheetahs are super awesome, such a shame that they became genetically bottlenecked. Can't imagine the species has too long left unfortunately.

I know there have been rumblings in the upper reaches of the North East that mountion lions may finally be venturing back into the state after being absent for like a century or more. Would be cool and very helpful to have an apex predator like that back in the ecosystem though we do have coyotes which aren't quite the same. Would be interesting if Wolves ever made it back to the Northeast as well to see what effect they might have on things like the deer population.

Yes, here in CT, whenever there's a sighting, the response was "there are no cougars in the state". But it seems more likely with photo and video evidence.

I dont live in New York anymore, NJ currently, but my parents still live in central New York and they have been reports of finding cougar droppings and sightings further North which doesnt surprise me as that borders with Canada and is not nearly as populated than the lower half of NY.

There was a point and time where much like wolves you could cougars all across the east coast of North America. Now both are pretty rare on the east coast. In the case of the cougar you can only really find them in the most southern part of Florida. There are bears in Florida too!
Damn Florida u scar
ier than I previously thought.

Unfortunately, cougars have been extirpated from East coast save for Florida population but they are making a comeback. There are breeding populations confirmed in some mid-western states now. And transient males have been found as far east as Connecticut!

Jaguars in Southern California? Where? What conservatives are you talking about? What lands are you talking about that these conservatives don't want to designate as protected habitat?

Facts would be helpful, or it is just typical drive-by BS that makes liberals look ignorant and misinformed and doesn't help the liberal argument.

Must be hard to do a bit of quick googling for yourself like I just did, instead of getting all defensive.

Beautiful creatures. I love big cats as well as little cats.
Part of me dies when I think about them going extinct within my freaking lifetime. That shit is just insane to me. :(
