Let's try and break Akinator: The Web Genie

"Have you ever fallen in love with your character?"
"Are you currently in a relationship with your character?"
"Is your character a lesbian?"
"Is your character in a relationship?"
"Is your character in love with someone of the same gender?"
"Does your character love you?"
"Was your character involved in a very difficult love story?"
"Does everyone say that your character is in love with you?"
"Is your character gay?"
"Is your character a boy?"

"Have you ever slept with your character?"
"Has your character kissed a girl and liked it?"
"Does your character have a girlfriend/boyfriend?"
"Does your character have a love interest?"

Akinator seems really convinced that either my girlfriend or I are gay...

Also...

"Does your character get invited to competitive Counter Strike competitions?"

He couldn't find Xander Mobus (Smash Bros. 4 Announcer). It was in the database, but the questions need refining, I guess.

Guessed the Southern Oracle statues from The Neverending Story.... wtf man!

Btw, this is a GREAT resource if you can't think of the character name or movie/novel/etc. that it came from.

He didn't know who either character was and they hadn't ever been listed before. Does nobody remember that movie? Same with Tim Robbins from Arlington Road. Forgotten movies from the 90's seems to get the job done.

Tried it again. He was able to guess Kuranosuke from Princess Jellyfish very quickly, but I stumped him completely with Isabella from Paradise Kiss.

Several novel characters failed. Decker from Clive Barker's Cabal was the one I actually thought he would get, and he still failed.

That first question "Does your character really exist?" always confuses me.

I mean... yes, Captain Kirk exists, he's in tons of fictional works. So in that sense, he exists.

But he's not a real life person. So in another sense, he doesn't exist?

It's all very existential.

*tries to make it guess Kirby and Zorua, nailed it on the first try*

Makes me wonder what/who else I know that will end up arriving at the correct answer.

Maybe I should find something obscure, but...I don't know anything obscure!

Is there some sort of setting to make it such that he doesn't say "I know who you are thinking of, but I believe this is not for children"

Cause it's pissing me off

That first question "Does your character really exist?" always confuses me.

I can't really figure out the context to this phrase either. Is it asking if the character is represented by a real physical person, like an actor? Or is it just using the word "character" to define any person, and it is asking if the person you are thinking of exists in real life?

Technically all characters exist.

Maaaaaaaaybe it makes it learn towards "character doesn't exist in database"...

Technically all characters exist.

Given that technically all characters exist, it's safe to assume it's just asking if your character was a living being or physical thing. Akinator's a bit loosey goosey, so it's not worth trying to find deep meaning in the questions.

Anyway, I like that you can get him to guess everything in his room. Even the pillows.

Does it include advertisement banners (not the actual content, mind you)? I'd be impressed...

defeated him with craig conelly (golf caddy, currently martin kaymer, formerly with Paul Casey).
He didnt even know him.

Yeah probably, but it would be nice if they made him a little less ambiguous with the word "character".

Also, I just tried "Jade Raymond" and it guessed it in less than 11 questions... god damn.

it guessed Billy Bob Brockali, the stuffed robo-bear banjo player from the Showbiz Pizza restaurants...

wtf?

got him again with Barney Matthews.
Nurse of Hannibal Lecter in the Baltimore State Hospital (the black guy who later sells Lecters stuff to MAson Vercher in "HAnnibal")

again he did not know him.

he guessed wrong the first time, but got Cabbage Head from Kids in the Hall pretty quickly afterwards. first time he guessed Uncle Albert from Bewitched. lol

pretty cool how many of questions seem so vague and some cant even really be answered with definite answers but he nails it often.

haven't tried Akinator in a while. im sure he's smarter now than he was last time i used him.

Legit broke it with Milich's Daughter in Eyes Wide Shut. Like it wouldn't even let me enter in the name as a future option, page got borked and had to refresh.

I think I win the thread objective.

*attempts a mid-game switch from a character to another character*

*still manages to get Ephraim from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones from a diverted-from-Luigi*

I'm somewhat impressed that he managed to get Samurai Flamenco (less so though that the actual entry is literally Samurai Flamenco and not the name of the character). He also gets quite a lot of Touhou stuff quite quickly (though pulling out some of the more obscure characters takes multiple tries for him)

Of course once I break out the real obscure stuff it just can't win. Sorry Akinator, I guess my obscure-game-taste is too stronk

Not really what I was going for put Akinator guessed "Poor***" from Madoka Magica, aka girl without a laptop. I...didn't realize this was a thing.

I sort of thought id get him with Behemoth from The Master and Margarita and he flubbed the first guess, but then it was like

"is your character a cat?"
"is your character russian?"
"is your character abnormally large?"
