I didn't want to go too specific but yes, of course you are right.
vrr is variable refresh rate. Hdmi 2.1 standard vrr is freesync. Just technicalities.
On pc You just will use g-sync. On consoles, the other one
 
Hi,

LG C1 Gsync disabled unless..you reboot the PC. As soon as you turn off the TV and turn it back on , it reverts to VRR even though Gsync is enabled in windows.

If you reboot the PC it goes back to Gsync until you shut the screen off again.

Been happening for the past 2 sets of drivers. Was working fine before. RTX 3090 Hot fix driver : 496.84

Might also be due to LG recent firmware updates in the past few months I'm not sure..

Anyone else having this issue right now?

Burn in is still something that can happen even if its a low chance,still lower than the chance of getting a Dirty screen LCD,which can happen as soon as you turn the thing on.

I thought XSX was better with Gsync. Have I got it wrong? I read that Freesync disabled something otherwise enabled by Gsync. Can't remember what it was.

Edit: According to Redit, Freesync disables Dolby Vision. I'll test this later.

I've got a replacement coming for mine with the stick pixel. Not looking forward to packaging the old one and building the new one again. The next one had better not have any issues.

XSX doesn't have G sync,it uses and AMD gpu.

Samsung marketing? I don't own Samsung and don't know what you're talking about. OLED's are well known to have permanent image retention/burn in, whereas LED TV's will not get permanent burn in. Not to say they have no other issues but OLED's get burn in, LED's don't. And for a gamer like myself that far outweighs any advantage in image quality knowing I can play a game for hours upon hours with static images not ruining my 4k panel.
 
Looking to buy a LG OLED48C14LB for around £999, is this a good deal and is this a great telly for the PS5?

I've had a bog standard 4k LG led for a while, want to upgrade!

I believe that it is a good deal. Here in the States it's around $1300USD and it just got dropped by 200 for Black Friday.

I have a 65" C9 and I'll never go back to LEDs. If you have the cash, I'd go for the OLED!

The tv just keeps fucking changing audio to game optimizer and I prefer cinema much more

Motion smoothing is that thing that introduce telenovelas effect right?

I'm pretty sensible with framerate drops or stuttering on pc during gaming, is the stutter on 30 fps video content the same thing? because i kinda never noticed...

Like, do anime suffer on oleds?

TruMotion in picture options but it's not available in game mode since it adds latency(IMO games are still very playable with it)

OLED Motion Pro is for motion clarity and not for solving 30 fps stutter.

I resisted an insane deal on the 55" C1 today. It was really hard to resist but i swore to myself that my next TV would be at least 65".

it's not true. Don't watch this guy channel. He have different opinion in every video.
Different video presets... have different settings... game optimizer looks just as good as any other preset. And gsync can be used in any preset I think.
Looks like he just have different settings in game optimizer mode than in his other modes. probably hgig vs dtm.

anyway - the guy is an idiot. dont watch him

I done the same through Very for mine. Make sure you use it excessively over the first two days. I did and ended up with a pixel stuck on green and a verticals line coming from it. It's being collected and new one delivered today. Better that it fails early on, but stressful nonetheless.

Yeah +1 for this. Aside from the fault I had, the picture quality is superb. I don't know if mine is an Evo panel though. Any way to check without the service remote?

You're only attacking his character instead of showing/proving he's wrong here. I don't see how that's more convincing than a video showing the effects of G-Sync on the C1.

If he's being bad faith here(knowingly using a FW where it hasn't been addressed or using bad settings) it should be easy to show that G-Sync doesn't come with a big brightness hit he's shwoing.

I've been watching his channel this year. He posts 180 video like every 2 days.
he is a clickbaiter with little knowledge.
Anyway - I have c1 and nothing like that happens. Different modes just look different

You can even clearly see the (User) in the brackets, meaning he edited the Preset so there is no way of knowing what he actually changed since he doesn't show the actual settings, which should always raise some eyebrows.
I'd only trust stock preset comparison when comparing modes without showing the settings and, that is yet without proof though, I have reasonable doubts about his claims. Since the Panel is capable of 120Hz and OLED is self-lit, I see there no reason why Brightness is supposed to be lower with a variable latency on. AFAIK Vincent even showed that OLED Pixels don't even need 1ms to display a new color so, technically speaking, there should be no loss in brightness as the pixel easily can change colors and adjust brightness way way faster than even the time it takes the TV to change all the pixel on the TV.
My HDMI 2.1 Cable actually just arrived and I plan on definitely checking this out this evening or tmrw since so far I only had a 2.0 cable since my old screen was 4k 60Hz only.
If you want, I can tag you in a follow up post to this or reply to this comment again when I post my findings about how the settings compare at default settings and how my subjective perception is of possible brightness differences and if there is a difference the options for someone to adjust them.

Quantum tv is a shitty youtuber in all regards,hes 100% clickbait and just pumps all kinds of videos postive and negative to flood the algorithm. Also isn't a calibrator and just worked retail.

This is a known issue because VRR unbalanced the whole picture when on and STILL DOES on LG flagship series unless you manually adjust it to fit the game. Of course while PS5 supports it, really it's more of an issue for Xbox Series X and PC if you have it plugged in (why use a panel that sucks with VRR on a PC?) as from my memory despite Sony declaring it's support I can't remember the last title to feature it.

For people that upgrade there TV every other year this won't be an issue, but if your buying for the console gen... well yeah will become an issue sooner or later.

And no, not using vrr to avoid the problem when the c1 is considered the best gaming tv also thanks to having vrr is not a solution.

it still requires manual adjustment per game the argument that "C1 looks better without VRR than other TV's with it on, and its hardly used anyway" seems to be the go to answer when presented with the issue....

hopefully the new models such as the C2 fix the issue, although im more interested in how the micro LED's are evolving considering there far more reliable in terms of maximum life span.

My replacement C1 arrived today. Just tested it out with Halo Infinite and I'm getting flicker in dark areas with VRR. Turning off VRR gets rid of it. I don't remember noticing it on the previous panel 🤨

It's true game mode is great but it dims a bit but if ur someone who plays game on a monitor I doubt y will see a difrence as the picture makes up for it especially in motion it's very clear even without motion enhancment

I played for the last 6 years exclusively on oled TVs...

I asked this once but the answer was not really clear (my fault most probably), can i use the low input feature and g-sync on something that is not game optimizer mode?

Like for example, i want to play tlou2 with accurate colors on filmmaker or isf mode, can i open the game-bar from the remote and activate the low latency mode\g-sync in those video modes? or i'm forced to play everything on game mode to have the lowest input lag?

Technically every VRR/G-Sync/FreeSync campable monitor/TV has this issue. However, it is just too hard to notice on LCDs. Therefore people first noticed it on OLEDs that came with VRR. It will be interesting to see when LG Display will release a Panel, that does not have this issue. My guess is 2023.

The best thing you can do right now: Make sure to have more or less stable frame rates (>100 FPS) and frame times. Then the problem is not so noticeable.

I always played at 60, i have no interest nor the gpu power to play at an higher framerate, that's why i'm mad.

And tbh, the majority of people play at 60 both on pc and console (when they have a performance mode of course).

And soon devs are gonna release 30 fps only games on console so people don't really have a choice...

Small question, do i need to change the hdmi to pc to unlock the 4:4:4 chroma if i don't have a 2.1 hdmi capable gpu? i read somewhere that simple hdmi 2.0b is not optimal for that and the tv could struggle.

Vincent says to do that on ps5.

also, is it a problem if i set the res\refresh rate at 4k60 on nvcp instead of 4k120 if don't wanna use the nvidia frame limiter everytime i can't achieve 120 frames (so 99,99% of times since i play at 60 frames)
Because in some games you can't really work with nvcp or even rtss to set a frame limiter and the ingame frame limiter are usually worse.
