Wayne is actually one of the best lyricists around, he's very clever. But as I said before, I just can't get used to his flow. Try telling me these lryics are 'wack':

...ya girlfriend and she say I got great sex
Safe sex is great sex
Better wear a latex
Cuz you dont want that late text
that "I think I'm late" text
So wrap it up
but he so sweet, she wanna lick the rapper

Yeah, it is clever, has repetition so that the idea sinks in, and when he is saying that. It means that his sperm is so good she wants to suck it all out of the condom.

Wow, you honestly think that a Wayne CD will flop? Come on now, even if it does bad for a Wayne album, it will still go platinum.

Your an idiot. If you think Wayne is a bad lyricist, who do you think is a good lyricist?

mmm lets start with Canibus, Crooked I, Chino XL, Joel Ortiz.

Yeah, haven't heard damn one of them, except maybe Canibus. Yeah, the fact is this, a lot of lyrical rappers either can't flow (Talib) or just have bad beats to their songs or other shit like that.

Every Wayne/rapper thread... we get a post listing off better rappers/lyricist that the rapper mention in the thread. While I'm sure these guys are good lyricist, what sets Wayne apart from these guys is his delivery and the production.

This, and the fact that Wayne knows how to make you want to listen to his music. He's got swagger and style. Most of you guys always hate on the popular guys just because you are jealous of them.

Damn, look all the haters talking about this flopping. Must I remind you that Weezy hasn't released any album in a over a year and he is the second hottest in the game right now. And for people complaining about lyrics, something is definitely wrong with you dudes. Guy is a Lyrical genius.

Man, Weezy put it best to the haters in that Gossip single

"Stop hating on a nigga. That is a weak emotion for a nigga. The lady of a nigga"

Wayne is so off the wall, its so fun to listen to him, this part gets me everytime.

"I got so much chips
You can have a bag if you're a snacker
Greedy motha fudge cake
Now tell me how that fudge taste
I do it for Bloods sake
Su-wu thinks its VooDoo
How the roof do di di dissipate
Your girl want to participate
She so so so-phisticate
Cuz her brain is off tha chain
And then my diamonds are in a choir
Because they sang from off my chain
And my Nina just joined the gang because
All she do is bang
Like Ricky Martin
Wayne and Kanye pick your poison
If that woman wanna cut
Then tell her I am Mr. Ointment
Tell her make an appointment with Mr.
I can't make an appointment
Take my lollipop and enjoy it "

That song grew on me man. He re-did it so many times, this final version is pretty damn good.

How long do you think it will take for Carter III to leak. I am waiting to see someone status on facebook "Got that Carter III! Weezy!"

Universal better have this shit on lock. The way rappers's albums leak out is ridiculous. Please no leaks for Carter III.

Doesn't matter, it will still leak once the release date hits and people start getting it.

I liked how raw/crazy he sounded on the versions prior to the one that plays on the radio.

:lol He also delivers this line better in the previous version; it's all in the laugh. : (

Anyways, it's nap time. I'll holla back at ya at snack time.

Fuck that. Wayne is not that sick. Unless you count him sucking his own dick. Not even in the top 5 let alone a #1 draft pick.

nah "hes so sweet make her wanna lick the wrapper" just means hes as sweet (charming personality kind of sweet) as say a lollipop which has a candy wrapper and then when he says "so I let her lick the rapper" its because hes a rapper and she licks him I cant believe so many people complicate this simple line.

Also why bother posting in this thread to say "its gonna suck"? You just make yourself look ignorant.

Wrapper = Condom, "He's so sweet, she wants to lick the wrapper." After he busts she still wants to swallow the come.

ooo shit:

fixed.

I don't care if he has good or bad sales, it's great that he can provide for his kids and give them a life he never had when he was young (I guess). But saying he's one of the best rappers in the game is fucking stupid.

I have been saying from the start that opinions are subjective, and it seems you don't understand something as simple as that. Him being My favorite rapper makes him the best rapper alive from my perspective so it isn't fucking stupid at all.

Enough of that though, I'd much rather be listening to some Lil Wayne than having this pointless discussion.

Ok we get it. You don't think he is the best rapper alive. Fine. Can you not post in this thread anymore since this is clearly for Weezy fans like myself and others alike who like the guy and puts him above everyother rapper because he is best in the business form our view ? kthanksbye

how can someone who is wack with weak lyrical skills be so popular. can't believe I hear writers etc saying he is the best in the game right now. Fcuking Joke!!

Wayne is one of the worst rappers I've ever heard, and I can't believe so many people have bought into this "best rapper alive" nonsense. Lyrically he's a joke; there is little to no substance to anything he says. I can understand someone saying he's "clever", but that doesn't make him a good writer. Can anyone tell me that A Milli is a good song, or fucking Lolipop? Seriously?

Sorry, but no one can be considered "best rapper alive" if they don't have a classic album, any classic songs, good lyrical content, etc. Wayne has a decent flow, that's it. Wayne is on the same level of Young Yeezy and the rest of the gangsta pop rappers

pretty much spot on. I will give that Wayne has improved his skill soooo much from his Hot Boyz days to now..

If you thoroughly listened to his music and retain that opinion I can respect it, but judging by lollipop is like judging a basketball player on how he does in a dunk contest.

A rapper makes a song for people to dance to (did a great job at it and a lot of rappers aren't that versatile) , then all of the sudden his library of lyrical showcases are non existent :P

lil wayne does some good stuff, but he does too much so it get diluted to no end. It's nearly impossible to find good wayne tracks unless you sit through hours upon hours of mixtapes and guest spots.

I mean, I dig his verse on Get Your Shine On and tha mobb and fireman from carter 2 are good. then there are some other stuff I can't remember right now, but my main point is that his level of quality is so fucking all over the place that it's impossible for me to get hyped up about anything his releasing.

Btw, one of his major faults is rhyming with the same word and repeating points to hammer them in. I'm not gonna bother finding examples as I'm listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughn at the moment, but that's why I think a lot of people dislike Wayne.

Just listen to Dr. Carter and tell me he has no lyrical substance.

Edit: That song is wack

(I clicked on the Mr. Carter link instead)
Mr Carter is a good song actually; seems like Jay either brings out the best or worst (Hello Brooklyn) in him.

You're right: songs like Lolipop aren't exactly what Wayne's about - they're singles. But overall the content of his full albums are typical gangsta pop bullshit. Similes don't equal lyrical substance.

"He's a beast he's a dog he's a motherfukking problem, okay your a goon but whats a goon to a goblin?"

A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE A MILLIE

I love what he did in hello Brooklyn :lol I was singing that hook for weeks.

How can someone wack be so popular?

New Kids on the Block vs. New Edition.

New Kids on the Block
Pillow cases, bed sheets, cartoon show, lunchboxes, action figures, etc.

New Edition
Not a god damn thing.

New Kids on the Block
Spawned Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch, Jordan Knight, Joe McIntyre

New Edition
Spawned Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant, Bel Biv DeVoe

Which groups was more wack but more popular.

Also if you gauge popularity to greatness then Soulja Boy must be a god to you.

Lil Wayne is trash.

The fact that people say how great he is is really a sign of how far the bar has lowered as opposed to how great he actually is. Nothing he has said lyrically impressed me and I'm easily impressed. All he did was brag about how awesome he is and put out a ton of mixtapes. Lyrically, it is nursery rhyming: short lines, monosyllabic rhyming, almost nonsensical content. I think I read tighter shit from Dr. Seuss than Lil Wayne.

Lil' Wayne is entertaining to me. He says some funny shit but it doesn't go much further than that for me. I really don't get this whole "greatest rapper alive" thing that people keep saying. I mean, how is that even possible? When people say that it makes me think that they don't really listen to Hip-Hop.

Some people think warching Direct Effect daily means they're well versed...

This will be the 2nd cd i buy this year (1st was Bun B's II Trill last week).

Hopefully everybody goes out and buys the album since he's given us TONS OF FREE music over the past few years.

Jay-Z, Nas, 2pac, Biggie, Em, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Method Man, Redman, Missy, Timberland...

Should I keep going with mainstream rappers that are/were versatile and slaughter any track weezy could ever hope to put out? He fucking insults rap every time someone echos "I'm the best alive" BS.

Random similes bragging about how hot you are aren't lyrical showcases. One syllable rhymes aren't lyrical showcases. Rhyming the same word more than 5 times in a song aren't lyrical showcases. Weezy sucks.

Fabulous has the same type of style and kills weezy on flow content and delivery.

count me in on this camp as well.

maybe its because he used to be so god awful bad that people are shocked to hear him be decent now.

i mean ill be honest im trying to give his cd a chance. but every thing of his i hear on the radio does not make me want to listen to his cd. AMILLIE or whatever it is just horrible. even the beat annoys me, which im sure ultimately will cause me to really dislike his album because i cant stand souther production for the most part.

on top of that its his simple rhyming structure and constant repeating of the same words to rhyme. its almost like kanye and if it wasnt for kanye's production he would be really annoying as well.

i think the only verse of his i ever enjoyed was his part on dj khalid's "we taken over" but even then i thought TI killed the song.

i like how people are hating on wayne because he's boastful. like he's the first rapper to ever have ego.

also a mille sounds like something beans or doseone would of put out - the production on that track is mind blowing. it's really bridging that art rap gap pretty quicky - wayne's going to hit up busdriver for his next album i'm sure.
