Linear 3D Platformers

Thanks to this thread I just bought Klonoa 2 (PS2) on eBay for $6.50 shipped. Can't wait to get it!

ditto, I bought yesterday Klonoa 2 PAL on ebay for a similar price after reading this thread (a bit more when shipped, but that's the beauty of living in pal).

Dude....
The Crash Bandicoot games are nowhere near outdated. They look even better than a lot of PS2 games. It's cartoony 3D with almost no pixelated graphics/jaggies. It's smooth and colourful.
And as for your last line, how can you say that they were never anywhere near as good as the Rare stuff when you haven't played 'em that much? I spend maybe more than 400 hours on CB2 and 3 and I still play them occasionally, having as much as fun as I used to back in the days. These 2 games are seriously underrated platformers and should belong in the top 10 list together with the Mario games.

This man speaks the truth! The ps1 crash games was really great . Best platformers ever! I really miss that kind of game.
Think about a ps3/xbox360 linear platform game with ps1 crash gameplay and next generation graphics....

Why not?

the whole game is about bypassing obstacles with a little bit yet too much combat thrown in. Even the puzzles are just platforming puzzles.

Fixed.

The combat system is frustratingly shitty when you come to a certain level.

That's why I didn't finish Sands Of Time, that's why I'm stuck in Two Thrones.
Please Ubi, just make the combat a distraction from plateforming.

*is frustrated*

Just started playing Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and I'm really loving the platforming, but the combat kinda sucks. It's fun at first, and I don't mind fighting 5 or 6 guys every now and then, but when the game starts throwing waves of 20-30 guys at you that can appear directly behind you out of nowhere, are all constantly blocking, and can attack you when you try to vault over them, then it starts to get really boring. I'm 65% in, and I'm really liking this game, but I'd like it a lot better with less combat.

PoP would've been a far more memorable experience if it didn't have that much combat. After a while you just can't ignore the shodiness of it anymore, and it kinda eclipses the overall feel you had of the game. Like I said in the appreciation thread: wallrunning, jumping, swinging: great. Combat: serves only as an interruption of those great elements.
