You're a better man then me, I'd see that as grounds for divorce.wetwired said:That reminds me of when I was watching the new Star Trek movie and I can't remember the exact line but it was Simon Pegg doing one of Scotty's classics, either "I canny do it captain, I don't have the power" or "scotty, beam me up", my wife turned to me and said "haha, what's that from?"
I have never let off such a sigh of disappointment in all my life.
Was it larger than the sigh she let out when she found out you were into Star Trek?wetwired said:That reminds me of when I was watching the new Star Trek movie and I can't remember the exact line but it was Simon Pegg doing one of Scotty's classics, either "I canny do it captain, I don't have the power" or "scotty, beam me up", my wife turned to me and said "haha, what's that from?"

The sad part, is they like them better than the originals. (They were only 5! Don't judge!)
At the very least keep them away from this grandma person.gunther said:i won't judge them, but you are the worst parent ever.

And speaking of fake, I was 8 when Empire came out. As god is my witness, I thought that Vader was lying to Luke, to trick him into the Dark Side. I held onto my beliefs, and argued it until Jedi came out. After all these years, i never run into anyone else who was "fooled". Was I the only one?

Maybe he will be interested when he is older, I remember hating Star wars up until my teens.Birbo said:I'm one of the lucky ones who saw this in the theatre when it first came out. I too thought Vader was lying, until later when Luke was on the Falcon and he seemed to accept it. Such a great moment.
Fast forward 30 years and now I'm a dad and cannot for the life of me get my son interested in Star Wars. He loves video games and cartoons and lots of other stuff I like, but getting him hooked on Star Wars just hasn't happened. It's been a few years since I tried...think it's time to give it another whirl.

RedSwirl said:This is exactly why Lucas put Yoda's confirmation in RotJ. He consulted a child psychologist who told him that without another character's confirmation, children would consider Vader's revelation to be a lie.
I saw the movies back when they came out. Didn't care back then and don't care for them now. If anything I think they're worse now than back then.CrazyDude said:Maybe he will be interested when he is older, I remember hating Star wars up until my teens.
x Power Pad Death Stomp x said:They may never like it. Despite being named after Star Wars characters, both my kids are indifferent towards it. My daughter much prefers Ghostbusters, and my son is too young to have any real care for it. I've already come to terms with the fact that they aren't going to love Star Wars as much as I do, as long as they don't become Trekkies they can still live here.
Birbo said:I know the chances of my son liking it as much as I do is pretty slim at this point. But he's older now than the first time I really tried (he's 8 1/2 now) and we just got done with all the Harry Potter movies, so I'm hoping he's more open to it.
And I gotta ask, what characters are your kids named after? My son is Kyle, pretty much because I was playing Jedi Academy when my wife was pregnant with him (don't tell her that).
