LittleBigPlanet 3 stream going on right now

I know that youtube views hardly means anything but holy crap, 2.4 million views in less than a week for a silly little commercial?

I hope that this bodes well for the game.

That is impressive. The hits for the E3 and Gamescom trailers are really high too. And then you look at the best-seller charts for video games over at Amazon.com and uk and the game isn't even in the top 30. That's an odd discrepancy. Either LBP3 is going to bomb gloriously, or it's going to shift most of its units in brick-and-mortar stores.

It really isn't complicated. The game will tell you when you first boot up online and say, "oh you did some stuff in LBP1 & 2. Did you know you can import stuff from those games into your LBP3 profile?" Then you simply go to the "My Unlocks" section in the settings menu and it gives you two options: import LBP1 stuff and import LBP2 stuff. Click those and it will download everything from LBP1 story mod, previous DLC purchases and items based on pin progression for LBP2 story mode.

Like mentioned above, personal stuff like created items and collected stuff from the community will need to be published to your earth from your LBP1 or 2 game to be collected on your PS4 version.

I've published a level to my earth with all the stuff I've unlocked from the MOVE pack. Will that automatically appear in my 'main' menus when I've redownloaded the pack or will I have to capture them to use them? I'd rather not buy a camera just yet (skint). I know we've been told you have to play the DLC again but I can't recall anyone answering or addressing this specific question.

Can you also verify that there is screen resizing in the PS4 version? I've seen a few streams now and every single one had a border. It's been in every LBP game, and if I remember correctly, it was in the beta too.

Really? It's in 30th place from my end.

Okay well, it probably entered the top 30 very recently then. It will continue to rise, but you've got to admit, that's still a pretty low position for a game that's coming out in two days time.

The playerbase is pretty split between the hardcore/creators and the kids. The usual LBP players will represent the relatively small initial sales. The majority of the sales will come from the younger market, which benefits from heavy advertising AFTER the product is on shelves. A moderate holiday ad push could sell quite a few units

I think it will sell well in time. The franchise has a pretty big fanbase, and with the influx of people who have never been on Playstation, along with younger gamers, it will be fine. Plus it seems that LBP has always been a slow burner more akin to many Nintendo franchises rather than receiving most of its sales initially.

LBP2 debuted at 353k just for reference.

I believe you have to go through the process of unlocking it like before for it to show up again in your menu when you redownload it.

So yeah to clarify, on the PS4, it will let you unlock everything through the My Unlocks menu settings from LBP1 story and LBP2 based on pin progress. The store will also know what you've purchased from those two games, but you'll have to go to the in-game store and unlock them but they'll be free. I misspoke about it unlocking the DLC stuff through the My Unlocks section.

As for the screen size, you'll need to set that in the display settings of your PS4.

Why haven't you just done the same as all the other LBP games? We used to get four hands pointing to the corners and then just adjust those hands until it fitted the screen. If I adjust my screen for this game using my TV, it will adjust all the other games too.

Amazon ranking are more "core" oriented than casual.
Let's take for example October NPD : http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/2014-10/videogames/ref=zg_bs_tab_t_bsar#1. Bayonetta 2 is not even in the top 10, but on Amazon she is only behind Call of Duty and Smash.
NBA 2k15 is 1st on NPD, but on Amazon he is number 16 on PS4, 60 on X360 and 62 on Xbox One.

Apologies for that, but it's something we can definitely address in the near future.

When you say near future, I hope you mean a week because many people have commented on the borders on the streams and I know for certain many people will complain when the game releases. Why isn't something as simple as this included? I just find that really odd. I'm sure I didn't have borders in the beta.

I have my TV on PC mode. Could that be the reason it fitted the screen in the beta?

Yep, all valid points. I did mention at the top of this page that I think the game will either bomb big time or do well in non-online stores through bundles and Christmas gifts and what not, so I do agree with you all that the game may fare well commercially.

I'm still surprised at its lack of presence in the Amazon charts though. And do bear in mind that LBP 2 saw a noticeable drop-off in units sold compared to the first game.

Interestingly, the PS4 version of LBP3 is tracking ahead of the XB1 version of DAI on those Amazon charts. Does anyone think DA is gonna bomb on XB1?

So yeah I don't really understand it but it seems those charts don't tell the whole story

For certain genres/audiences it does not but for the core gamer it does say alot.

I think the EA sub on X1 might have something to do with that. As a digital-only buyer, I always take retail numbers with a grain of salt. I am rarely represented in public sales data lol

People getting wlrried about this game: its gonna sell more around christmas then on release date.

Yep most likely. As someone else mentioned LBP has always sold quite well but it's never been something people line up at midnight for. People will probably declare it a bomb when it doesn't chart for November but with the Black Friday bundles and Christmas season it should do very well over the next few months.

Never played the Vita version, huh?

As a huge LBP fan, I have to say the Vita version is the best in the series, and that team made LBP3. I never had any doubts that the game would be excellent.

That's not the same team, that was Double Eleven, Tarsier, and XDev. Sumo Digital did the cross-controller DLC for LBP2 though.

Man,after seeing this comercial i really want to pick it up,even that i wasn't very hyped. It's a shame i've lost the twitch stream,i hope the reviews be very good to justify a purchase.

Oh, not only this, but checking the PlayStation channel on Youtube, they've also been releasing trailers for each character. My bad.
It seems it's the media who haven't been paying attention to the game, or maybe I'm being oblivious in that aspect too.

No you're correct: IGN, Gameinformer, Gamespot, Eurogamer, Polygon etc...the coverage for the game is practically non-existent. A November black-out of sorts. At least you'll get the reviews...

Because of the community nature of the LBP, the initial sales don't really matter, what matters is the long term sales. If there ever was a game almost designed to be a slow burning, this is it.

I really really hope reviews to be good; i don't want to read " LBP 2.5 " :(

From what I played in the beta and from what I've seen on Twitch, I can't see this game getting any less than 8.5/10 and that would be from picky reviewers. It's such a huge leap over the previous games, both in terms of story level design and presentation to the depth of new content to create with.

This game is a 10/10 without exaggeration.

I agree, i don't see this game getting less 85 meta and in best case it will be above 90 easily or close to like other LBP entries.

I think people are sleeping on this game. From everything I've seen so far, it looks far and away like the best entry yet (even just taking single-player content alone).

And no one has streamed the popit puzzles yet. There are around 5 hours worth and they're game levels with create abilities (something else LBP3 has brought to the table).

LittleBigPlanet 3 am cry :(

I mean, they've got the last gen versions of Shadow of Mordor listed, and nothing on LBP3. That's cool. I want to know if I'll be able to get my copy of the game tomorrow night.
If it's like previous midnight launches, you can. Call ahead just in case. Maybe some stores, will get their shipments during the day because of the day one/plushies editions? Who knows.

Just saw a video of it. *Mind blown*
I'd assume you can make levels with that as well. This is massive. How did I not hear about this before? O.o

Popit puzzles? Man must be so many things i've been blacked out on. First custom made real power ups, then actual quests and inventory, and now whatever this is?

Also those grind rails are nice.

I just checked the land line and there's a message from them there that does list LBP3, so I'll take that in confidence as a yes. Still silly that they don't have it on the website ad. Not Gamestop enough.

Yes, you can make levels with it and you can decide on what tools you're going to allow the player to use.

Omg this stream is selling me! There's a special gold bubble you can collect to buy COSTUMES. THE ODDSOCK COSTUMES ARE SO AWESOME!

There's an elephant, a waiter (with a drink held by Odd's tongue), and a golf caddy :lol

Everything is connected through a hub world, where you can use level links to go to other worlds (which was in LBP2)

But with all the new layers and platforming, it just looks and feels very cohesive and huge.
