Live Arcade boss leaves to PopCap

Arne, wow :D

XBLA-bitching threads get your blood pumping! On page 3 it looks like you are just simply giving Stone Cold Stunners to just about anything that moves :D (it shows you care about what you do and this is a good thing :)).

THANK you. I love reading all this talk about how PSN games or Virtual Console is going to like knock XBLA out of the business. "Losing midnhsare". Nine times out of 10, something like XBLA is only appreciated AFTER someone buys the console. It's not any kind of deciding factor. Most consumers probably thing all the retro shit that people complain about to no end to be pretty cool. Ooh, Pac Man. Root Beer Tapper. I loved those games. *Buy.* They're not thinking, "Ehhh...it's no Calling All Cars."
Exactly on the money. The original titles are not selling that well. The classic coin-op games are selling much better yet they all receive the most amount of complaints from hardcore gamers. XBLA is meant to provide something different than traditional retail games, it is supposed to be like a version of Zone.MSN.com for the Xbox.

Wait, what? Where exactly are you getting that from?

There was an XBLA sales thread just a few days ago and unless my memory's going haywire, games like UNO and GeoWars were the huge-sellers, while games like Defender and Robotron were at the very bottom...

Edit: I would also, very seriously, bet that 50% of the numbers for Namco and Konami games are from achievement-whores. The achievement community loves those games, since spending 400 points on them means you get free 200 gamerpoints within an hour of purchasing them.

people dont seem to factor price, a retro game selling 100k at 5 bucks isnt as good as an original title selling 60k at 10 bucks.

If they'd kept the original graphics, Robotron would have been #1 :(

Hulks should be big yellow cubes with tiny little limbs. Dead easy to spot with the old peripheral vision.

Not the fuzzy messes in the 360 port that look more like Grunts, than obstacles.

Sorry, but that's been bugging me for a while now.

In the pause menu you have the option to use the original graphics or the updated version.

Yeah, a lot of the retro games are like that.

I like the updated visuals in every classic title I've bought.

I agree. XBLA is about as mismanaged as it can get right now. It could be a great selling point for the console but it has been done almost entirely wrong in regards to pricing, content, number of releases, etc
Someone who flat-out refuses to pay more than $5 for any downloadable game has no business complaining about pricing. Most games are $5 or $10, and most of them offer up a great value at that price.

Maybe XBLA will now be a place that's open to "your old-ass Playstation 1 games." SotN certainly will break that ice nicely.

While true .. there are far less costs getting a retro game ready as opposed to building a new one from the ground up.

i think a lot of people don't factor this when looking at a lot of industries.

but yes, this is very true.
