Living on a (predominantly) liquid diet

It's been about two years now since i started with digestion issues, i eat and no matter how small or what it is, it just sits there on my stomach. I have made adjustments to the way i eat, currently i eat at around 11:00 am (solid food) and afterwards i'll drink a shake or two. But even then come night time i need to go sleep and i can't because i can still feel the food just chillin' inside my tummy. Anyways i'm thinking about eating even less solid food (a piece of chicken meat, or a piece of fish, any other good source of protein) and the rest of my caloric needs would be filled by liquid/semi-liquid means for example protein shakes, ensure bottles and the likes. How feasible would that be?, would it be necessary to also take some centrum pills as well?, eating has become bothersome instead of being a pleasure like it used to be, and it seems like it's going to stay that way.

Any advice would be welcome.

i dont think its a bad idea, really

as long as theres fiber in your diet i think its fine

stews and soups and fruit smoothies are all great foods that are liquidus

Have you seen a doctor or dietitian? Have you been diagnosed with anything in specific? Knowing this info could help us give you some advice.

Find a good doctor and get things tested until you figure it out. I was miserable for a couple of years and got some help that determined I can't absorb fructose. It sucks, but I feel fine now on the new diet. Previously I had approached it like an allergy, since I'd been dealing with those for a long time. The fructose was everywhere, so I couldn't put it all together on my own.

That's the short version, b/c there was some discovery along the way, but I think that was the root cause of the problems and discomfort for me.

Seriously... Digestion issues are kind of a big deal.

That's what I'm doing right now. I'm still eating a little, for now, but I've been on Soylent for a week and a half.
Is it due to health related issues that you're doing this?

I think i may have gastroparesis, i have had tests done but they haven't detected anything out of the ordinary, i've left to have one done but i'm not sure it's available where i live, and even if it was i don't have the money to have it done (you basically eat radioactive food while they scan you and check how long it takes for it to be digested).
Go to the doctor.

My fiancee had the same thing, takes meds now that resolves it. It's an actual condition.
Do you know the name of said condition?

I know...

A little late to the party on this one, but better late than never. I had a very similar issue in college and early in my working career. It's a condition called gastroparesis. Essentially, the nerves in your stomach have somehow been damaged (mine was due to diabetic autonomic neuropathy), so your stomach doesn't know when there's food in it and therefore doesn't know to start digestion. So food just sits and you get full really easily or throw up. Typically, liquids aren't as big a deal to ingest as solid food. Definitely get it checked out, we had to do a endoscopy to figure mine out. Usually they just put you on a medicine called Reglan (generic metoclopramine) and diet should get you fixed right up.

Hope it helps! Good luck.
