Local network issue: cannot connect to PSN with router suddenly

Here comes the bump - is anyone else having problems with PSN on PS4 lately?

I'm having problems similar to those from couple of months ago - I can't connect to PSN on my PS4, and I'm getting NW-31194-8 and sometimes CE-33987-0 errors.

Since last time, I've changed my router (now I have Tenda N80 Wireless N900), and everything worked mostly fine for couple of months, but now I suddenly can't connect to PSN anymore. If I connect PS4 directly to my modem, instead of a router, PSN seems to work fine.

And this time I can at least connect to PSN on my Vita and PS3 (via router), and I can access PS Store on my PC, so I guess it's not a router problem, rather a PSN/Sony one.

I've tried resetting both the router and PS4, updating router's firmware (it was already up to date), I've tried changing MTU and DNS settings on PS4, and I've tried using both ethernet cable and wireless connections, but nothing works. Everything worked fine until September 1st, and I haven't changed any router/PS4 settings in the meantime.

Yep, it seems to be happening to a bunch of people now. You can fix it by looking at the PS4's IP in network->connection status and then going to your router settings and applying DMZ host to that IP. You'll have to redo it if the IP changes or if you reset the router but it's better than nothing.

Thanks for the reply. I tried looking for DMZ option in my router settings, but I couldn't find it for some reason (as I couldn't find port forwarding options). I tried googling it, but Tenda's site just shows how to access those options in their old interface, and via some tabs (Virtual Server) that I don't even have in my router settings.

I'll try to connect everything via my old D-link router, where I could set up DMZ and port forwarding options, and I'll see if I can make it work.

I really hope Sony will fix this in firmware 3.0 :/

So I'm having this issue with my ps3. PS4 works fine. But ps3 won't stay signed into psn. Keeps logging out and coming up with the issue number.

Things I've tried:
resetting router
adding ports 80 and 443
changing the MTU setting on the ps3
adding the ps3 to the DMZ

None of this seems to work. My next idea is to enable bridge mode but i don't know what that means. This is frustrating. I just want to download Yakuza 5!!

Sorry for the necro bump on this thread, but I too started experiencing this issue tonight.. after doing tons of troubleshooting from first contacting Sony and having them tell me my ip was banned and to contact my isp.. to contacting my isp and them changing my external ip and having the issue still remain.

After that I found this thread, directly connected to the modem and low and behold everything worked. I had a spare router around and it also worked. Went back to my router that wasn't working and it still was not working. So narrowed down to my router being the issue I sat and messed with a lot of settings and found what is causing the issue.

It appears that the ban is happening on the mac address. I am running advanced tomato firmware which allows for spoofing the mac address.. and simply changing this allowed me to access all PSN services on all devices. Leaves me to wonder why they banned my routers mac address in the first place. Anyway hope this helps someone who may run into this down the line.
