Logitech announces G600 MMO Gaming Mouse with 20 programmable buttons

God dammit. My Naga broke a few weeks ago and I already bought a non-Naga replacement because I got tired of Razer's crap build quality. Now I feel like a dope.

I struggle to think why anyone would need that many mouse buttons.

For MMO's...

Lefties must learn to use the right hand. Deal with it.

(In b4, i'm lefty and use the mouse with the right. But I use the wiimote with the left, however)

Yeah I'm a lefty when it comes to writing but I still use a mouse in my right hand. I've never used a Wiimote and I kinda wonder which hand I'd hand up using.

If I still played MMO's like I did a few years ago I would be all over this.

I remember buying that massive original g15 keyboard just so I could program a giant block of FFXI macros on the extra keys.

Just put in my order, have been using the Razer Naga but I have been through three of them within a year, they have poor build quality. I remember using my mx518 for years with no issues.

It took me a while to get used to when I first got it, but I'd be hopeless without my Naga. Still going strong at almost 2 years.

Maybe if it breaks down, I'll look in to getting this.

If anyones going to pre order this in the UK you can get a 4% discount on the Logitech site via quidco and the code GRAD10 gives you 10% off but that code finishes tomorrow.

My G700 just broke. Single clicks kerp registering as double clicks. My faith in Logitech's reliability has been somewhat shaken.

I've had many problems with Logitech products over the years. But I continue buying them in large part thanks to the sterling 3 year replacement warranty they have on their products. I had the same issue with the G700 - got it replaced, and well... it's as good as new :p

That said... this mouse pisses me off. It's an upgrade in button count on the mouse, but a downgrade for everything else next to the G700.

I'm always looking for more buttons on the mouse - not because it's better for MMOs, but because it's better for productivity software!

You should contact their customer service which is really good, even if stuff breaks out of warranty they will usually give you discount codes to buy another.

Seriously, they should market these mice as productivity mice as well as 'MMO Gaming' Mice.

In a standard internet browser you can set buttons to new tab, refresh, close, next/prev tab, back/forward. There's even a few buttons spare that you can do things like reopen previously closed tab, open new window, split tab off from window... still have a couple universal buttons - restore/maximize toggle, close window, alt+tab.

In photoshop, you can have the mouse do undo, redo, fullscreen, tab, new layer, next/prev layers, etc, etc, etc.

In a program like AutoCAD where hotkeys aren't hotkeys but a command line input, it's even better - 2-10 stroke commands are reduced to a single button press.

I recently bought the g400 and I don't like it at all. It does not nearly have as many buttons (but I wouldn't need them anyway) it is just that I don't know how to hold it. My ring finger has no place to go due to the right side being formed in a weird way. :( Think of returning it.

They should make a dual analog clone of the Jaguar controller while they're at it.

And my MX 518 is all I'll ever need.

How are you holding that mouse? AFAIK, the g400 has the same form as the MX518. I just don't get it. It doesn't feel comfortable at all.

Finally got mine!

After using the Razer Naga for 2 years and switching to this mouse... this one blows it away, the quality of it is amazing. The buttons feel way better when pressing or just hovering your finger above them. The mouse feels great in my hand ( I have big hands) fits perfectly

Not to mention the white on black looks sexy as fuck.

I own this mouse and it the best mouse I have ever used. So smooth and I actually use a lot of those buttons

I found the Naga to be ridiculously small for my hand. I'll have to check out the Logitech mouse and see how it pairs with my G13 for GW2.

One of these days my trusty two-button (three if you count the scroll wheel) Logitech will finally die and I'll replace it with something a bit more modern and MMO-friendly. I don't know. I've grown so accustomed to it over the last six years that I think it'd be hard to switch.

It's a claw grip mouse, so you kind of hover hand and push it with your fingers. Typically paired with high sensitivity settings.

They market these things as MMO or MOBA mice, but they really shine in FPS games. I can access all my weapons, equipment, and the mini-map without taking my hands off the mouse or WASD. After awhile you can do things like weapon switch juggle combos without even thinking about it.

How is this an advantage over just using a keyboard? That many buttons is doesn't seem very practical.
Imagine that you're good enough with the mouse to hit any side key instantly without hitting the wrong one. Don't you think that would be advantageous?

How much of a speed advantage would that really be over just using your left hand on the keyboard with a good hotkey setup? And you don't need to train yourself to use a keyboard. Extra buttons on the mouse are useful, but 20 of them?

Well, the notion is that your keyboard fingers have enough things to take care of that being able to make use of your largely dormant thumb on the mouse hand can be useful. I use the word 'notion' because I've never used one of these mice, though I'm planning to in time.

Sigh. I was all ready to buy one of these or a G700, but then I learned about the negative things that many (all?) laser mice bring, like acceleration that you cannot get rid of.

Suddenly, looking for a mouse became an issue. I'd really like to have a mouse with many buttons, as I'd like to be able to switch weapons instantly in an FPS, for example, without having to use up one of my running fingers. :<

After getting used to my Naga, it's actually very noticeable how much quicker and easier skill use becomes with mouse buttons as opposed to using your keyboard. Combining the mouse buttons with shift+ctrl, I rarely have to ever remove my hand from WASD. It took me maybe a week of playing to get used to it, but at this point I think I would truly struggle to play without it.

I still can't find all 20 buttons.

I see:
Left, Right & Middle buttons on the top: 3
Scroll wheel? And the 2 under it: 3
12 on the left side: 12
Total: 18

What 2 am I missing?

Scroll up and scroll down maybe?

Also don't forget that Logitec mice you can push the scroll wheel left and right as well as down so that's two extra right there.

Yeah, they really are. Primarily, it means you can keep your hands pretty much locked into two spots - you don't have to traverse large distances with the keyboard, nor do you have to set up awkward key combos.

The other nice thing is that you can setup macros on the mouse - in World of warcraft, you can set up attack combinations to help you farm - or in AutoCAD, you can execute commands with a button press (as opposed to typing out the command name and pressing enter).

The point is that you want your fingers(middle, index, ring) on WASD for movement.

I even use a Naga in combination with the Nostromo(where movement is relegated to the thumb so you free up 2 fingers). It's really nice to play MMO's without clicking skills or using modifier buttons. Depending on the class skills+pots+general buttons(push-to-talk, interaction buttons, jump, etc.). You can run out of buttons pretty fast.

There seems to be arrow at the scroll wheel, maybe you can push it left and right?

This is the mouse I wanted two years ago.

I had a Razer Naga but the dang thing broke after 6 months of use. Couldn't ship it in for warranty since I was in a different country than the one it was purchased in. I remember after getting it I was amazed how cheap it felt. The buttons on the side had a crappy cheap feel to them and I only could use a few.

I replaced it with a G700 and it's been going strong ever since. Only 4 buttons on the side though. But the quality feel of the G700 is miles ahead of the Naga. It's wireless but I hardly ever use it as wireless actually.

I like the design of the buttons on the side of this G600. They're not as small and the ergonomics of them look vastly superior to the Naga. I'd still prefer the G700 for web surfing but I may just pick one of these up if I ever see it on the shelves here in Japan. It's cheap enough so I may just use two mice.

Yup Naga feels like some chinese rip off compared to the g600, I say definitely upgrade to this mouse if you have a Naga. I like the icing on the cake of the three year warranty :D

I have the buttons light up on default settings, which turns a different color every second, looks sleek as fuck (white on black version)

I recently tried Tera out (free trial) and really wished I had a mouse with a crapload of buttons on it because moving with the keyboard, aiming with the mouse and then somehow trying to press keys to activate abilities was awkward as all hell.

Now, one of the problems was that I choose berseker first (charge up skill made it REAL awkward), and it got a lot better when i tried out the mage dude, but man, I could really see how beneficial a 10+ button mouse woud be in that game

I tried out a controller as well and that didnt work out all that well either sinces its simply hard to move, aim and activate abilities when those abilities arent all mapped to the shoulder buttons

I dont think this will be that big of a problem for me in GW2 due to the targeting feature, though i might have to resort to some camera lock feature (really dont want to spend that much money on a mouse)

You know, I'm a console gamers as well in the fact I tend to prefer gaming with a gamepad, whether console or arcade style.

And that mouse feels like it would kill me to learn to get used to. And yet... if I did. My.. I could surely be more useful at something with it.

mmo mouses aren't just great for gaming. They rock the boat for productivity.

i have separate profiles for all my apps for all my most used shortcuts.

Even the ability to map 'scroll to top/bottom' 'switch between tabs' 'reload page' on your mouse for your web browser is super slick.

Yup, my naga epic has helped my video editing so damn much, it is ridiculous.

(also I highly recommend the naga epic to those who want a naga that fills your hand more since it has these great extension pieces you can add to change the shape of the mouse, also the build quality of the epic is significantly better than the normal naga or naga molten)
