Lollipop Chainsaw or No More Heroes?

Just finished up Killer is Dead, never played a Grasshopper game before and now a big fan, just love the style. Which should I play, I guess I can throw Killer 7 in the ring also.

Killer7 get a lot of love I never understood. Couldn't get into it at all.

NMH 1 is amazingly fun if you can stomach the grind aspect of it.

No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw should both be pretty cheap these days on PS3 from what I've seen, so I say get both if you can. If it has to be one though, get No More Heroes, it's the better game of the two.

If you've got a method of playing K7 as well, I'd rank that alongside LC tbh.

Lollipop Chainsaw was about one of the worst gaming experiences I had last generation. So not that one.
NMH is alright. Not sure how it holds up, though.

Lollipop Chainsaw! Fun game to just kick back and play, plus there's plenty of unlockable costumes.

Then go for Shadows of the Damned.

Just started playing No More Heroes on the PS3, but I have to say the port isn't very good at all. I'd go with the Wii version if you still have the option.

Huge framerate issues as well as lots of screen tearing.
Not to mention that it doesn't even look better than the original.
Controls aren't very good either. They feel much better with a remote+nunchuck.

no more heroes is probably the best game that suda 51 made from a gameplay perspective (1 and 2). it features probably one of the best uses of the wiimote.
killer 7 is a mess imho although the story can be interesting.

shadows of the damned is better than i expected. its still pretty trashy though

I like all of Grasshoppers games but I'd go for Lollipop Chainsaw from that lot, really liked a lot. My favourite Grasshopper game would probably be Shadow Of The Damned though.

It may be trashy in its tone and attitude (and all the more hilarious for it) but I thought it was fun as fuck to play. Loved it.

That uses the Move, correct?

No More Heroes is probably the best game last gen from a writing standpoint. Everything about the writing is perfect for the story they're telling and is extremely entertaining. It's also kind of fun to play.

No More Heroes is a lot more similar, but both others are well worth checking out as well. Killer 7 is a little more...out there though. I'd go Lollipop then NMH then Killer 7.

Killer7 is the best game Suda has put out and is an unforgettable experience. Honestly it contends as my favorite game of all time.

What makes the game so interesting is that it defies genre while still not being particularly very deep in it's game play. The game play is quite literally a vehicle for the narrative and it's absolutely crazy and unexpected situations you will encounter, a lot of which are a lot more thought provoking than you might think at first. The craziest part of all is how the game finds a way to justify why the game play is set up the way it is. It's a grim as hell game with a lot of style and personality to it. It's not a game for everyone but at the same time there's nothing out there like it.

Tl;dr if you're willing to forgive competent but shallow game play that's more context-based in order to get scenarios such as masked lucha libres debating politics by headbutting bullets then fucking buy it.

No More Heroes is his second best game, a bit safer and generally more "game-y", but still good and maintains some of Suda's trademark style to it. I would still recommend Killer7 over it as it's the game that shows what Suda can do when he's completely off the leash.

Killer 7 and No More Heroes are the two best Grasshopper games and if you liked Killer is Dead, they're the most similar to that. Lollipop Chainsaw and Shadows of the Damned can be fun but not on the same level in terms of style/story/being weird.

My personal favorite Grasshopper game is Flower, Sun and Rain on the DS, but that one definitely isn't for everyone and is a bit different from all the other games. There isn't even any combat, more of a story-focused adventure/puzzle game that's light on traditional gameplay and high on strangeness.

NMH2 if you can. Killer7 if you can locate the GC version - it's an unusual game but the story/soundtrack are worth it.

I think they're both enjoyable. I think No More Heroes is a bit more unique than Lollipop Chainsaw, but it also is a fair bit jankier in terms of its design. That being said, I would probably say that NMH is mandatory if you're a Suda fan, but not so much with LC. LC has style, but it's not quite as distinctly a Suda game.

So, definitely get NMH, then play LC if it interests you.

Shadows of the Damned is also a decent game, and it's probably the best playing game that Grasshopper has done. Only problem is that it's also the most "grounded" game they've ever done. Not quite as insane in terms of writing in style. Still has some things to like, though.

I suggest No More Heroes, as I find it to be superior in almost every way over Lollipop Chainsaw. The only flaw I really had with No More Heroes was the town felt pretty dead to me and almost seemed tacked on to handle transitions from fight to fight.

I'd say the combo system was more fleshed out in Lollipop Chainsaw.

I haven't played Killer 7, but I've heard it's really good.

I'd say both.

Lollipop Chainsaw is some trashy fun. It's pretty dang funny, and I enjoyed the boss fights and chasing down unlockable content.

NMH 1 > NMH 2

I tend to agree, but others disagree. I think NMH2 is a more polished game overall, but there are definitely fewer standout bosses than the first game. So, higher lows but lower highs.

I don't know about Lollipop Chainsaw. I say it's the one with least amount of Suda-ness about it.

killer7 is a definite if you liked KiD. Controls are a bit different to what you'd expect but work perfectly fine for the most part. GameCube version is the one to get as the PS2 version does have longer load times and felt a touch slower on the framerate to me.

No More Heroes is a blast as is the second. Some quiet bonkers moments and stand out bosses, not that either are challenging gameplay wise. Shadows of the Damned is another really unique title I'd recommend.

Killer 7 is like basically a point and click adventure game, except you have FPS combat as well. It's a fantastic unique title, but the PS2 version suffers from some terrible slowdown. I thought No more Heroes 2 was a bit of a dissapointment but still enjoyable. Shadows of the Damned is crazy.

As for Suda games, I love them all in general, haven't played a bad one in my eyes.

I guess I'd say No More Heroes but the "earn money" BS in between the missions really hurt that game, for me. It wasn't fun and the world was aggressively uninteresting.

Whatever you do, OP, stay away from Flower, Sun, and Rain.

I've beaten Chaos Legion, Bullet Witch and two Onechanbaras so I consider myself pretty tolerant to "stupid, shallow but fun" gameplay. I couldn't play Lollipop Chainsaw past its first hour.

Go with something else.

I'd say start with NMH, then play Killer 7. LC and Shadows of the Damned are also pretty fun. After that you could play NMH 2, which has its' good points. At some point try Flower, Sun, and Rain - it's pretty good.

Play them all EXCEPT Lollipop Chainsaw.

I felt the tedious work to earn money made the actual missions/bosses that much more rewarding

Lollipop Chainsaw, if only for this:

Granted, it was pre-order DLC. I'm not sure if they ever put the pre-order costumes up on the store.

It's amazing how many people truly despise Lollipop chainsaw. I never knew till most recently. I really enjoyed it, so OP this will probably be a hit or miss with you. Def go with No More Heroes first in this case.

Killer 7 is great but I would play Shadows of the Damned first.

Then No More Heroes 1 and 2.

Lollipop Chainsaw was pretty forgettable aside from the humor and a few horror references. I hated the controls.

I did not care much for Lollipop Chainsaw at all, No More Heroes on the other hand I recall rather positively even if it has the unfortunate money grinding aspect.
I'd probably put Shadows of the Damned above all of the other Grasshopper games from last gen.

Lollipop chainsaw was the weakest game of grasshopper lately.

Killer7 was the best game ever made by suda followed by no more heroes. Loved 1 for its freshness and two for its awesome improving overall everything what was fucked up in part one.
But part two lacks of glitchy and bad camera.... Also the framerate.... Damn so unfortunate to see that didnt get a straight 50-60fps....

Play the Wii versions of No More Heroes 1&2, then play the GCN version of killer. Try to avoid playing the PS3 version of NMH as it isn't a very good port, and Lollipop Chainsaw can be avoided all together, as it just isn't very good.
