Lollipop Chainsaw PAX footage

What about over 200k in the US alone? At least that's what wikipedia says...

I dunno about Euro numbers but there were expectations for 160k apparently, and Rising Star was raving about the early sales so they probably got close?

meh, i didn't like dead rising and i don't think i will like this game.
the whole cheerleader with a chainsaw idea is embarrassing too but its suda so we can expect anything from him.

Liking it, and the reinforcement of the No More Heroes comparisons. Not expecting it to sell, though (and not just because of the negativity seen here).

Well if WB believes in this game, they might advertise it (unlike EA) and it might do a bit better than SoTD. It looks quite fun, if only the footage wasn't interrupted by that guy's face every 10 seconds :/

More around 400k+ for the Wii version if I remember correctly. That's the best selling Suda game.

This looks really awesome :D

WB would be smart if they marketed this game DIRECTLY towards the 13-24/40-55 Female demographic. I think it has huge appeal as the female equivalent of nonsensical video game power trips/empowerement. It has violence, action, silliness, a dude's disembodied head as an accessory (symbolic + merchandising potential), and as a plus, bubble-gum neon explosions in place of blood for those who are still adversive to such content.

WB, are you listening?! Don't limit your audience potential based on fear and stereotypes!

Bomba incoming.
Man, I own so many bombas at this point. I feel like someone who has a vinyl collection because that's the only way their favorite artists release it not because they're trying to go against the grain.

eh, it's kinda like Bayonetta. It has a strong female lead, but at the same time could be seen as cheap sexploitation (cheerleaders, pantyshots...).

If Suda learned something from his previous games, it could be interesting. Combat seems decent.

Game is still day one for me. The footage looks awesome and is what I expected. I unfortunately couldn't finish the video because that guy is simply annoying.

Looks really fun. Repetitive, but fun! No More Heroes was the same way, and I still enjoyed it.

Surprised they went with a really comic-book aesthetic for a lot of their visuals. I mean, it fits much better than I would have ever anticipated, but I really wish we would have gotten something more fitting to Juliet. I dunno, maybe she's really into comic books?

I'd play this if it had a differtent character design.

Not really into this lollipop nonsense.
Other way round for me. Cheerleader in zombie land - great. The mashy slash em up God Of War type gameplay - no thanks.

Wouldn't surprise me if she is considering that Travis was into moe/anime.

Looks even better seeing it in motion. Really liking the bright colours and comic book style speech balloons and hud elements.

Also seeing other students being attacked by the zombies out in the hallway was pretty cool looking as I was kind of expecting it just to be endless hallways of enemies and nothing else similar to how the No More Heroes games were for a lot of the time.

The first vid is the worst attempt at video editing I've ever seen. Good job Destructoid.
I thought there would be no blood, apparently there is?

Destructoid always have the best coverage :D
I thought it was pretty bad. Nobody wants to hear what a video game looks like. Write an article and accompany it with dialogue free footage instead. The guy was annoying. Don't make a video article and have your sponsored game interrupt halfway through. I don't have a high opinion of destructoid and this didn't change it

Definitely. I think Gamespot's really set the standard lately for gameplay videos.
'Here's the developer. Here's the game. Here's the developer talking while someone plays the game'

The Japanese version doesn't have blood.

Killer7>NMH>NMH2>SotD>...

This is the trend I'm noticing, but SotD was still quite enjoyable imo.

And this is the reason I'm not watching stuff on Desctructoid anymore. It's neither informative, nor funny. It's just dreadful to watch...

I find the guy attractive but damn he can't talk well, he makes many faces while talking, moments when he gets lost and most of the things being mentioned are mostly useless things. Also sponsormessage was horrible thing to do.

The trend I have seeing is that the actual game parts have gotten better. Killer 7 isn't really a good game even though it's story and style are pretty much above what came after it. No More Heroes is a pretty fun brawler and very playable. NMH2 is arguably a better playing and more accessible game package, but it's story losses some of the depth and metaness of the 1st one almost to the point that it's kind of meh. SoTD is actually a very good shooter with only a couple of flaws.

Eh, Bayonetta wasn't colorful like this. Lots of satin black and ruby/wine red comes to mind when I think of Bayonetta.

I think it looks great from that bit of gameplay. Looked like the start of the game so I'm looking forward to see if there are different weapons etc.

I don't think it's sexploitation at all. She wears a short skirt, but girls wear short skirts in reality all the time, and it's part of the cheerleader attire. It's not like she's sporting a thong underneath it.

I mean, Garcia Hotspur was shirtless for a large chunk of his game, but you didn't see anyone saying that was sexploitation.

I totally agree with your analysis but, sometimes weirdness > playability.
Zombie Lollipop, just like SotD, looks like a standard game with a mildly weird art direction. This is probably enough to enertain me once. But I doubt that I'll ever go back to these games after finishing them.

Are they replacing the neon bursts and hearts with blood throughout the American release? If so, that blows and may kinda affect how much I'm looking forward to this.

Anybody who play this at PAX remember their score? I got a 25,000 or something like that, but it seemed like the demo was too easy. Of course they'll do that for a convention, but that's the primary thing I'm concerned about at this point: difficulty. The booth people said it wasn't figured out yet, but as long as there are difficulty option significantly harder than what they had for the convention I'll be pleased.

Pulled off the over-the-head-leapfrog and splits maneuver a good bit. Like the trailer, it ends with you pulling the chainsaw through the zombie as you pull yourself up from the splits; it would take a great deal for that extravagance to get old. Wearing out three zombies health just enough to cut all three heads off simultaneously was a good hat trick, too.

Suda51 would have to really try to screw this thing up from what I've played so far.

It was fun to play - the combat was pretty intuitive, but the game moves aren't finalized yet, so don't be weary of what you see. For example, there was no dash or dodge move yet.

The destructible objects in the school like desks and chairs also make the fight scenes more interesting.

The game's presentation is pretty much what everyone thinks - crazy and off the charts.

This is exactly what I want from suda. I'm a big hack-n-slash/action fan, and a huge goichi suda fan. I can definitely see this being one of my favorite suda games.
