Does that guy who competed in the Olympic games also get to compete in this?

Oscar Pistorius? Yup. He's competing in:

Men's 100m - T44
Men's 200m - T44
Men's 400m - T44
Men's 4x100m Relay - T42/T46

Channel 4 thinks that I'm either not in the UK (which I am) or that the video player isn't working. =/

I had the same problem. Watching on TV Catchup (tvcatchup.com) works fine though.

The Channel 4 player was playing up for me this morning but it's working fine now - HD and everything when it works properly. And the text commentary is really well integrated into it.

Shame they don't stream everything like the Olympics, I feel like I've missed a lot of archery :(

Gold for GB in the cycling. Sarah Storey seems good enough to compete in the Olympics, tbh.

She's one of the few people who've had gold in two different sports. She was a swimmer before she was a cyclist. She's also cycled for England in the Commonwealth games. So, yeah, she's in the right ballpark!

Edit: In fact, she *was* good enough for the Olympics:

In 2011, she was competing for one of the three places in the GB squad for the women's team pursuit at the 2012 Olympic Games. Although she was in the winning team for the World Cup event in Cali, Colombia in December 2011,[11] she was informed afterwards that she was being dropped from the team pursuit squad.[12]

It was just one of those quirks about the amount of people you could have in an event - there were something like six viable candidates.

We've got our first medal! Bronze!

Good stuff. Too bad the French girl was hurt and couldn't fight, though.

Gold medal for France!

Charles Rozoy won the 100 m Butterfly men S8.

just found the obscure channel where the games are broadcast in France :(

So, I was right, the GB swimmers HAVE already beaten their olympic tally, by winning a single gold!

gawd, the olympic swimmers were terrible.

Anyone else watching The Last Leg on C4? While it seems 4 have taken some time to find their feet today (no surprise, first ever *lympic games coverage, it's not easy), this is great fun and why it's good they got the games.

It's good yeah, and their studio is nice, shame it doesn't seem to be in the olympic park though, the BBC's studio made you feel incredibly close to the games by that one simple thing.

Mm. They are in the IBC, the international broadcast center - so in the park... just with no windows. It's a pity, and they could get away with it for Last Leg but it hampers the rest.

And where the BBC had people in little studio boxes in each venue, not seen 4 use anything like that which is a pity. But agree on how much it changes the mood.

Very much laughing at Last Leg now too.

still, at least they've already made amends over their disastrous athletics world championships coverage - they really are giving it a lot of attention and money, and though it's not the olympics I'd imagine it'll do pretty well for them ad revenue wise and that's why they're pushing the ads so much.

What happened?

He felt his bike slip out the release stand at the start, and stopped to say there was a problem. Tv footage showed that to be the case, but that is inadmissible in the rules, so effectively they just made the rules up, had a quick look at the equipment, thought it looked ok and dq'd him, even though if he'd fell off because of it he would have got a restart...

Is suppose if you are disabled, the less falling about you do the better...

Two more bronze medals for France, one by Laurent Thirionet in men's individual pursuit cycling C2 and Elodie Lorandi in women's freestyle 50 m S4.

1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze yesterday, 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze today.

It seemed to me that he got DQed because he simply tried starting before the beep and his wheel was still locked in place.

Man, that GB Cyclist was salty as hell. Poor guy.
I just saw clips of it. I don't blame him at all. Like he said himself he spent 4 years training for this moment only for those people to take it away. If I was him I'd have stuck that prosthetic leg right through their faces.

just curious - some of the athletes are wearing those carbon fibre springy legs, which help them run faster, but presumably in normal life they wear more standard legs?

So why do the swimmers swim 'au naturel' and leave their legs etc by the side of the pool? Why can't they come on with some kind of leg with a flipper attached?
