Looking For a New Mouse

My current mouse is a cheap one that came with my previous computer, and I've run it into the ground. The middle mouse button has never worked, but I could live with that. The scrollwheel stopped working a while ago, but I could live with that, too. In the past few days though, a lot of the clicks have started registering as double clicks, which I can't live with :pie_pensive:. I can't take it apart, but I've regularly cleaned the outside, and blown under the buttons. I think it's just time for a new one.

I don't really know anything about this stuff, though. What do you guys suggest? I'd like something nice that's not going to break the bank, and I don't care about any special features, just need the basics. I think I've heard that with some of these higher quality mice you can take it apart and clean it properly without damaging it? That'd be nice to have if it's true.

Oh right, and I don't want any cordless shit. Cord only.

There are great mice from every brand. It's just a matter of whether you care about having 20 different apps in the background. Or if you want to commit to one brand for all your gear, which makes life simpler in my opinion.

I saw you mentioned CORDED.. but I will recommend the Logitech MX Master 3S anyway.

Once I started using them (around 2016 maybe) I have never looked back. Have one at home and one at the office. Very quiet mouse clicks and the worlds best scroll wheel which unlocks and freewheels when you scroll fast. Perfect for massive PDF documents.

G305 is my choice, I grabbed a bunch to have backups because they are cheap and awesome. I have a couple extra in case I want to swap out the switches that degrade without fearing of breaking one. If you are against wireless though, the original G-Pro is very similar and was my main mouse for years before I finally got sick of the cable.

I have an MX master as well. Absolutely love it. Will run this into the ground and buy another.

Stuart Little has always been a classic

Dont touch that mouse

Co-signed. I got one of these last year and it's my favorite mouse ever by far.

There are very few wired mice left. Wireless performance has gotten so good that it's the standard for anything that isn't e-waste.

If you're going to get something for gaming, I'd recommend the Logitech G305X Superlight. It's the latest version of the G305, which has long been one of the easiest mice to recommend. The new version has a host of improvements, the most notable being a significant reduction in weight. It's like $80 and should be available at Best Buy, Amazon, etc.

For something a bit cheaper and with a replaceable battery, the Razer Viper v3 hyperspeed is on sale at Amazon right now for $45. It's not as light, but you might not care about that. There's also the Razer Orochi V2 at under $30, which is smaller than either of the others I've recommended, but you may prefer the shape.

If you really need a wired mouse, then your best bet is the Endgame Gear OP1 8k v2. It's one of the highest-performing mice on the market, but it comes at a bit of a premium at $90.

A good mouse is really an underrated purchase. Some of us get really deep into this by trying to find the lightest thing possible (my Pulsar is 35g), but you don't need to go that far to find something that feels better to use than a typical mouse. I'd also look into better mouse skates and a glass mouse pad, but that may be going too deep down the rabbit hole.

I just ordered this for $30. I've been using the same mouse for work and my gaming pc. Tired of packing it into my bag for work.

I don't like this mouse. I find it very uncomfortable.

So this leads me to my point go to Best Buy and try mice. There are a gazillion, comfort is the most important thing.

Decide if you want a GAMER mouse because for that you will pay more but it may have features you want. Decide if you want the number pad on the side for example.

I wish they made more corded shit. I wanted to get away from the 250MB service Logitech needs for basic ass mouse movement. I got the Keychron MK6 8k and it's really nice. Keep in mind: it has other upgrades over the lower polling rate versions. For $60 it's solid, and there's no service or driver. Glass feet too. Settings adjusted through a web app. NOTHING is installed or runs on your machine.

They make great keyboards too. Company founded by people who worked in the keyboard and mouse OEM industry. They know what they're doing.

I didn't realize that Logitech had mostly cornered the mouse market. Huh. Anyways, I took a look at every single mouse you guys recommended, so thanks everyone :]. I think the one for me though is the Logitech G Pro Hero Wired. Wired because like I said I run this stuff into the ground and I don't want to unnecessarily add another factor that'll make me have to buy a new one, or a new battery. The other reason is that the design looks basic and easy to clean, while also being high quality, which is what I want. The G502 looks like more mouse than I can handle lol.

my favorite mouse of all time is the Logitech G502 Hero which costs about 35 bucks on amazon.

My choice too. The Honda Civic of the gaming mouses.

Great sensor, enough buttons, free scroll with metal wheel (life!), macro functions, great app, durable, warranty, and cheap...
(there's a cordless version too)

I got the G305 literally 3 hours ago. Cheap but solid. The bread and butter of PC mouses.

Give keychron a look. They're trying to change that and as far as I can see, the best alternative on the market. I just wanted to get Logitech software off my system.

Actually I changed my mind. It looks like the Logitech G502 X is more durable :pie_thinking:. It says here it's got new optical switches that make it basically immune to the double click issue.

The 502X is just the 502 Hero refresh.

They are all the same with some small changes on the sensor (the same thing), colors or braided cable.

502 Protheus core ->502 Proteus spectrum -> 502 Hero -> X
ps. the 502 X does not come with the adjustable weight AFAIK.

My first G502 (protheus spectrum) lasted about 8 years and was only replaced it because I dropped it on the floor and stepped on it. Literally.

I've really enjoyed the Incott G23. It's real simple and to the point. Very comfortable and with clicks that are pretty quiet and still satisfying. It's advertised as a wireless mouse, but you can use it wired (which I've always done and it's perfect).

I'm currently using a logitech g502 lightspeed hero, been using it for a couple of years, heavy use, still works fine. Would recommend it or whatever the new 502 is called nowadays. Very comfortable and durable with additional programmable buttons.

I know you said cord but nowadays, get a wireless one honestly. I was just like you prior to this mouse, fearing lag and whatnot, but honestly, I would not go back to cord after it. The battery lasts like 1-2 weeks for me (and I can charge it very quickly by attaching the cord that it comes with while I keep using it) and I can also take it with me into bed or whatever away from the desk if I wanna still use the PC. Try before you deny :P

You know every wireless mouse works w/o the Logitech app/service, right?

And that wired mice still need the app for all the extra features/customization?

As others have said G502 Hero. Have had it for a year now and it is a great mouse. I have grown to really like the infinite scrolling wheel(too stiff with it normal).

But then you can't change any of the settings. Not as bothered by it as I was before I found keychron. I love Logitech ergonomics but the build quality and materials has been going downhill and the software just kept getting fatter. Happy with my new Keychron set. The clicks, the plastic, the scroll, these things really feel great and cost half the price or less for better sensors in many cases. They actually tell you exactly what sensor you're getting. I've owned Logitech for as long as I've been mousing and I'm not saying I wouldn't go back, just wanted to have a look around and pretty stoked with what I found.

Sure, my point was just that Logitech's fat app has nothing to do with being wireless. You need it for the wired ones too for the same reason.

I've got a Razer Viper V3 Pro, My Son upgraded the V4 Pro and I took his hand me down V3, either of them are insane, but they're pricey, I would definitely recommend one if you play FPS games on PC though.
