Dude just get a used corolla.

No matter what you find that'll be the best option.

You can get a new Corolla for his budget.

Honestly get a 4 door Corolla or Civic.

Don't get the Mazda. It's been the "trendy" option, but reliability hasn't lived up to billing.

PS: Don't lease.

May as well toss in my two cents for some cheaper luxury cars.

Infiniti G37, Cadillac CTS, BMW 3 Series, and whichever comparable Lexus (I forget how their naming convention works) are all fairly well regarded, not hard to maintain, and can be had in AWD if that's your thing. Fairly quick, spacious, good looking, meh on gas, and with lots of features that you'll see replicated on the "newer" cars and then some.

The G37 can be had in coupe form too, though AWD Coupes are unicorns.

Friend bought his 08 CTS for 17k with lower mileage and he's loved it so far. Great cars, won MotorTrend's Car of the Year for the year it was introduced (2nd Gen CTS).

i'm in the same boat brother and have no clue what to go for. anybody have links to some kind of unbiased well known sources the review all the cars?

seems to be allot of opinions vs. that clear cut choice with a 20k budget.

on another note looking at the mileage all these new cars get makes me kind of sad. i'm used to driving old first and second generation vw's with more modern tdi engines swapped in. we are talking 50+ mpg per tank all day long and you can get better on long trips and a steady pedal. i just want to have something nice and modern to hop into with an auto tranny depending on what i'm doing.

Huh? Mazda's are very reliable. They've been #2 in reliability behind Lexus for the last few years I believe.

I would avoid Civic's and Corolla's, they're reliable but they are the favorite targets for car thief's.

Why did you even reply? Just curious.

Buy a Nissan Altima. Love em. They run ~$18k loaded.
