Lords of the Fallen gameplay demo [PC/PS4/XB1]

Looks interesting. Combat seems to lack any sort of weight though. Some of the moves just looks so weak, no feedback at all when you hit and the sound effects (which could just be placeholders for now) sound really lame now.

I hope both of these things will be improved, because this looks pretty nice.

For a sec I read the boss name as Instagram lol!

I dunno, personally I don't find the core combat parts of the Souls games that engaging (as in the part where you push the buttons and stuff happens), but, rather it's learning the enemies and when you can attack that makes it fun/interesting. This looked like it was lacking that element except for the boss, he just kind of walked up to every enemy and slashed his weapons a bunch. Obviously this is just the first level or whatever so there is no telling how it changes as it goes on, but, I thought it looked pretty boring honestly.

That said, the timing element for combos could be fairly entertaining even with boring enemies. Pretty much anything that keeps me away from button-mashing is good enough for me.

I like the art. Does EVERYTHING have to be insta-compared to something now-a-days? It's not as colorful as Darksiders, the Bulk looks more Warhammer than Joe Mad, and it in no way has the Snap of D.Sider's combat.

Minus superficial things like "He has a Hood like War!", I felt it was a pretty unique style, and instantly just forcing it to be something else diminishes their personal artistic accomplishments.

The collision looked loose and very "arcade-y" , in a "do the right move, get the desired results!" way, rather than in a way that suggest actual deft movement. This is cool though, as it should make it fairly easy to play if it stays like this. But that gives a feel of lacking polish, to me.

I think watching the Warden repeat his beautiful spin so many times in a row was overselling the motion. Especially if you can't do anything to stop him. I still believe in the gaming rule of letting something repeat 3 or 4 times, then moving on to something else. Any longer just seems to kill the pacing. The Armor phase changes were very cool though, so props for that staggered, phase-based boss design.

The actual combat VS the normal enemies had no satisfying endings. Need a satisfying final particle effect, or allowing final blows to send the enemies flying. It's as if they go into a canned death animation ON THE SPOT, and just die, which really diminishes the accomplishment one should feel. Can you knock them off their feet? Or push them into objects?

Lighting and particles looked pretty great, I have no issues there.

As something coming to XB1 / PS4, I'm pretty happy to see a game like this. Arcade pattern / timing based gameplay is always up my alley. And the promise for the constantly evolving world has me interested. But I'm always wary about combat in games from devs I don't recognize... it's easy to have an underlying gameplay that misses the proper feeling, even if the motions and graphics look good.

But it's definitely on my radar now. I welcome anything that's not just FPShootan / Hyper Real guys Fighting in modern Wars. Swords and Sorcery removed from the lifeless combat of something like Skyrim is very pleasant to see.

I literally dropped everything like a hat when I saw the title, including the baby onto the floor. I've been craving details for this game since the announcement trailer.

I don't have a baby.

Looks pretty, combat looks fun enough, exploration looks kind of weak/linear, rpg aspects aren't shown but I'm guessing they're pretty basic. Will follow though.

It's like they said to themselves: "Let's take the exaggerated art styles of WoW and Darksiders and combine it with the gameplay systems of Demon's/Dark Souls. Nobody will notice."

This is totally Dark Souls.

I don't know if it's BECAUSE I love Dark Souls so much, but I feel like a lot of these enemies are too easy and getting really quickly stun-locked.

I'd want it a bit more challenging, but this looks totally promising. So far I'm in.

That is perfectly fine with me. Game looks pretty good now and I am looking forward to keeping up on it. This looks like a game I can happily buy.

nothing graphically mindblowing, but looks like a solid action adventure. I just hope it doesn't get as repetitive as DS2

Read the name of this game before but didn't bother checking it out ... and wow, game is definitely on my radar now. Looks pretty awesome so far.

The character player and enemies seem a bit generic but it otherwise looks like a hella fun play! Will keep an eye out on this one.

Graphics are beaut too.

Action looks good, But im more interested in the RPG aspect, Can we create the protagonist? As I prefer that than having one forced like Geralt etc.

Well, I was already tentatively interested and the video looks far better than I expected.

That's pretty much irrelevant in this kind of game, anyway, as the core focus is just the combat.
