Lords of Thunder, BEST ACCIDENTAL PURCHASE EVER!

So there I was browsing through the Wii Shop channel, re-downloading some VC games and putting them on SD Card (Just in case I lose net access or something) and I look at Lords of Thunder, just to see how large it was, when my friend comes into the room and starts talking to me about something stupid; all of a sudden I accidentally hit the "Yes" button where the shop channel asks if I would like to download the game! (The screen where it shows how much space it would take up)

NOOOOOO!!!! MY PRECIOUS WII POINTS!!! (TBH I was interested in getting the game anyway!)

There it goes, nothing can stop it now! (Just pretend that it says Lords of Thunder rather than Super Mario 64!)

I see it sitting on my Wii Menu, mocking me, calling out to me to play it. I fall prey to its demands and I am blasted with pure unadulterated awesome through my tellybox!

Anyway, in short, this game is freaking awesome! Great gameplay, great graphics (For a TG16 game!) and the most amazing ButtRock music EVER, BUY THIS GAME YOU FOOLS!

this was the game that sold me on a turbo duo, sadly i never had the money to purchase one :(

i remember they made a video for this game that you could request for free from some magazine ad.

Funny story :lol

I'm very tempted, but I'm holding out the distant hope of seeing an XBL release eventually.

Its possible. Same with PSN (didnt they say TG16 would be on there back before launch?). If Hudson released Omega Five on 360, they could release Lords of Thunder if they wanted to.

I loved this game. I played it on the Sega CD and it remains to this day as one of my favorite games of all time. Yes, the soundtrack even to this day is amazing.

Ahhhh... The TG-16 had some of the best shooters available at the time. The Lords of Thunder series and Blazing Lazers. Makes me all warm and fuzzy. :)

You piece of shit. Bonk's Adventure fucking rules.

I don't see what's so special about it. To me, it was a slow, mediocre platformer with clunky controls. I didn't enjoy it much.

Lords of Thunder, on the other hand, is amazing and I'm happy that it's getting recognition.

So, in summary, the game was too hard for you and you're total platforming weaksauce.

I downloaded Bonk's Adventure due to heavy GAF recommendation. After that I'm a tad skeptical. I mean it was okay but I wish I'd gotten something else.

Huh? I beat it. It was easy. Disappointingly easy, as a matter of fact.

Isn't it a very short game? I've been wanting it but the description says only 6 stages.

Bonk is slow, has the stiffest controls this side of classic Castlevania (which is fine in Castlevania, not so much in a platformer), and the music is gratingly terrible.

Lords of Thunder, meanwhile, is excellent and I'm happy to see all the love it's been getting in this thread, the other Lords of Thunder thread, and the VC thread.
But it's still not better than Super Star Soldier or Soldier Blade. :P

Yes, it's very short. There's
an extra stage after the first six
, though, but shooters on VC tend to be short.

That's a close one to call, actually. But yes, I think I'd also put Super Star Soldier and Solider Blade above Lords. Slightly, mind you.

Yes, Lords could have standed to be a couple of levels longer.

Still, it was a stellar game and any flaws it has are minor.

I dunno if I buy it... the Wii has like... 3 screens that ask you if you're sure you want to buy the game... you intended on buying it all along!

How is TG16 emulation on Wii as I'm really interested in this game? I remember reading it had really bad filtering or something, is this true?

Yea, i went ahead and gave this game a go. talk about a treat, i am totally humbled.

i can't believe no developer ever evolved this pacing for a shumps. the little shop elements and overworld keep you locked into the fight like no other shooters do. and great rock

Two threads now....

I am really tempeted but I don´t know... I suck at shmpus :(

I am in the same boat. Tempted because of the music but I suck at shumps. Should we bother GAF?

Well, I finally gave in to the hype and downloaded it. It looks and sound great, but yeah I suck at it. I should have known. The only shooter I was ever any good at was Fire Shark on the Genny. Probably should have waited for that one.

Picked this up last night ($18 for 2000 points on ebay for those looking for em).

Awesome game as expected - but I'm getting my ass handed to me. Anyone know which armor is best for each stage? Soundtrack is great too, reminds me of Guilty Gear and F-Zero X.

I ended up using Earth Armour for every stage except for the bottom-left one, where I used the Water Armour.
