What is Lords of Xulima

Lords of Xulima is a successfully kickstarted indie CRPG with old school sensibilities. Create a party of 6 characters and go on an epic 100 hour journey across the world of Xulima. Gameplay is very might & magic like however from an isometric viewpoint instead of first person.

Features

  • Play as a story-driven protagonist and customize your party for a complete role-playing experience. 10 classes and over 100 survival or combat-oriented skills.
  • Non-linear narrative; tackle the Towers of Sorcery, Divine Temples, Impious Princes and Titans in an order which best suits your abilities.
  • Tactical turn-based combat, player-friendly random encounter system and strategic party management – purchase scrolls, blessings, potions, food and tools for the journey.
  • A vast, beautiful continent to explore: Lush forests, arid deserts, freezing glaciers and even the suffocating heat of a volcano, enhanced by weather effects.
  • Castles, Towers, Temples and Caves steeped in secrets, engaging puzzles and deadly traps.
  • Inspired by decades of fascination for old-school Eastern and Western RPG series. All presented through a modern, intuitive interface.
  • Charming hand-drawn 2D landscapes, combined with smooth 3D modeling for character and combat animations.
The Classes

There are 10 classes total in Xulima, 1 of which your party will always have (Gaulen the Explorer) the other 5 characters you get to customize yourself from the remaining 9 classes.

Subscribed! Thanks for the OT. I LOVE Wizardry 8 and it seems this will be right my alley. Since I already bought DAI I'll play it first but right after that I'm visiting Xulima :)

Anyone put much time into this since the latest patch? I picked up the game awhile ago but I think it will have to wait until after I finish Dragon Age now.

I regret not backing this when I had the chance. Hopefully, I'll be able to use it to wash the taste of dragon age out of mouth should the worst happen with that game.

Well the couple hours I spent with it tonight have been very promising. So far, so good.

Great job doing an OT for this. When I saw (on RPGCodex) that it releases now I considered making one, but I really won#t have the time to play it for a while. Still very curious to see how it will turn out.

"Over 100 hours"

Probably could be cut in half if the character moved even a little bit faster. Oh my god he moved painstakingly slow (at least in the trailer). Otherwise this looks interesting.

Is it wrong that "over 100 hours" sounds almost like a threat to me when it comes to game length these days? So many great releases, so little time.

Nice work on the OT. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this to see what the reception is. I'm not sure how I feel about the disjointed camera for combat and exploration though. Anyways, I still need to play Legend of Grimrock II which I've heard is nothing short of amazing, and I'll likely pick this one up once when I have some time.

I'm not going to complain, but at the pace I complete games, RPGs especially, it can be a little overwhelming, especially in such a fantastic year as this one.

There's a run button.

I've got this game wishlisted, too bad it comes out just days before DA:I, and I wouldn't have time to start and finish it before DA:I releases. I'll definitely pick it up afterwards though!

This game was recommended to me by Steam. The reviews on Steam are overwhelmingly positive and the video on Steam looks great. Reminds me of Eschalon but with good combat.

I think I have to pull the trigger on this one even though I will not get to play it for another few months at least. It is pretty amazing that I can wake up in the morning and see a brand new crpg ready to play that I haven't even heard of.

Edit: Fuck it bought.

'Alt' turns on run mode, or you can hold shift if you feel like torturing your hand.

I would agree, especially since not many non-multiplayer games can stay compelling for 100 hours.

More isometric Crpg goodness? Awesome.

I guess this hasn't been linked yet, so here's CRPG Addict's impressions of the game.

The combat system is, in fact, one of the best I've ever encountered, offering a few features that I've never seen before. Chief among them is a long, continually updated list of icons, on the right side of the screen, depicting the current attack order--influenced by speed, initiative, and luck.
I know he's a CRPG addict, but sometimes it might be useful to look beyond that. That feature has been in many a JRPG over the years :P

I bought this during the steam sale @ 30% off. Spent like 10 hours just experimenting with different party combinations. Game is insanely hard on Hardcore Ironman (at least in the beginning), and I'm enjoying it very much. It seems more polished than MMX, despite having its fair share of balance issues.

I contemplated...and watched a few videos...and yah, I bought it!

Its gonna sit on the back burner til i finish Dragon Age Inquisition...which, should be soon.

Picked it up, played around 8 hours on the second difficulty, and I'm having tons of fun. Exploration is isometric, combat is turn-based in a 3D-simulated screen and it's really good. Money is scarce and you will use a lot of it to heal and buy supplies (you consume rations while travelling). The story seems interesting so far, it's about gods battling in the heavens and you're a herald who has to do the dirty work for one of those gods on earth.
