don't know if the place is still happening but the Huntley Hotel has a great lounge/club with a great ocean view. there is no cover but you do have to look the part. not as much dancing as makai but there is a live DJ.

I think gf/bf's are totally cool. They should know enough about you to understand how big a part of our lives gaf is.. and they would be genuinely interested in meeting some of these people that they have to compete with for your daily attention.

Just curious LA-GAF, how do you guys handle getting designated drivers? Being from NYC, I always wondered this. Nice thing about good public transportation is you don't have to worry about getting designated drivers.

Some bring DDs with them, some taxi, and some carpool with the intent to walk the driver about the latter half of the night to sober up. It's worked out so far, but safe is always something to shoot for. I really wish the mass transit was better here, but L.A. has not quite caught on to that helpful concept.

Do you have alternative suggestions? I tried to price reasonably low because this is a pub crawl, not a date Other criteria would be that all the bars on the list need to be walkable from each other, and they all need to have space for a group of 20+ people.

Britannia was eliminated from contention cause it is sectioned ina way that makes it tough for a group of 20. Bodega and Wokcano were considered but they are farther off and just barely walkable. Didn't seem worth walking there. Yankee Doodle's would be doable, but I wouldn't have both it and Barney's. Kinda redundant.

EDIT: Oh and I avoided places where you might feel inclined to need to dress up since I didn't want limit this pub crawl to people who like to dress up when getting plastered. So Penthouse @ Huntley was out. BUT if most people chime in and say they'll dress up I guess we could go there. Though it's on the higher end of prices.

And I thought about Bar Chloe, but they are sorta pricey. They even refuse to make drinks that arent snooty enough. Ask for a Long Island and they'll say "This isn't that kind of bar."

Barney's Beanery has one. But Yankee Doodles has a ton. They are basically across the street from each other. Both are sports bars so I'll just replace Barney's with Yankee's.
