:lol I like how he didn't mention Jack, a actor he spends a ton of scenes with. WONDER WHAT THAT MIGHT MEAN
Probably that Locke and Jack won't be encountering each other for at least the next four episodes.

Dan said:
I wonder if it's the same reason Sayid is working for Ben, or if they have different reasons for protecting those left on the island.
Indeed. It also explains Charlie's whole "they need you" speech to Hurley in 4.01.

Dan said:
Kate explained that. She feels betrayed by her mother.

omg rite said:
Well, I think that doesn't really need an answer. We kinda know why. The last time she saw her was when Kate visited her being sick and then her mom yelled for help. Then she went through what she went through on the island. It toughened her and she probably realized her mom kinda sucks.

True. I guess I just expected Kate to be more forgiving.

omg rite said:
I think/hope Claire just couldn't leave the island because whatever gets them off the island could only fit 6 people or something, so she gives Aaron to Kate.

I don't know. they have a freighter, space shouldn't be an issue. I think Claire is going to die...or maybe she will want Aaron to live a normal life.

Dunno, but it's probably related to when he cried at the beginning of episode 2.
Exactly. When Dan was asked why he was crying...he said: "I don't know." He also had a hard time remembering his name when he first saw Jack.
There's obviously something wrong with his memory...short term memory loss?

Dharmalar said:
-Why Does Daniel have a hard time remembering the cards (with Charlette)

Well, when they showed him crying upon hearing the news of the crash the pop-up tab at the bottom mentioned that the woman in the background wasn't his wife but was actually his caretaker. So I'd imagine Daniel has some sort of brain damage issue. I don't know why it would only affect his memory of the cards, though. It doesn't look like he has a short-term memory problem.

Edit:
There's obviously something wrong with his memory...short term memory loss?

Now that I think about it some more, the more it seems possible. I guess I was thinking a particular brand of short-term memory loss. I should know better. Every brain-damage case is different. Maybe Daniel has a short-term memory problem that's specific to visual memory.

BTW, are we sure it's Aaron?

Either that or Kate fucking sucks at talking.

I thought she said Eric at first, then GAF was like OMG AARON.

But now two other people said they thought it was Eric.

Knowing other retarded people doesn't make you any less retarded.

It's definitely Aaron. It's either Claire's Aaron or Kate was unoriginal in naming her own baby or the name is a tribute to Claire's Aaron.

.. what?

I'm looking at other forums too where people thought she said "Eric".

It's pretty obvious that she spoke it in a way that could easily be mistaken because it wouldn't be such a common thing to hear people say.

(And I know it's Aaron, but it's weird that so many people heard 'Eric' at first. I'm gonna rewatch it in a bit to see if it was close at all.)

I heard Eric as well.

Okay there's the ending on YouTube.

It's OBVIOUSLY Aaron, but she DEFINITELY says it in a way where people could mistake it for Eric if they're not really paying attention.

Because she says it really fast then BOOM LOST LOGO, I think it left people like "wait, did she say Eric or Aaron?"

YouTube comments.

"OMG, Skate has a baby. At least I'm assuming its a skate baby cause she calls him Eric. unless he's Claire's but why would she change the name from Aaron to Eric?"

:lol I mean come on, the clip is right there. I understand thinking it's Eric by a quick first-time listen when you're not really focused on what's being said, but the clip is right there. Obviously Aaron.

I missed the name completely and figured it was Sawyer's kid 5 years in the future. Maybe there will be a youtube of the reveal up tomorrow so I can watch it again.

Speak of the devil, theres the youtube i wanted.

What the fuck is wrong with you people? This was an awesome episode. Too many good moments. Extremely powerful. Still way the hell up there. I dont know what the fuck you people watch on TV that make you scoff at an episode like this as 'sucking balls'. Whatever it is, I sure havent seen it.

And its not like I think LOST can do no wrong, I thought many episodes in seasons 2+3 were pretty crap.

Apparently girls heard Eric, guys heard Aaron. I think most girls are to interested in the love triangle to care about the rest of the show

The baby is named Aaron.

Other notes:

- Ben's power and reach were explicitly referenced by Miles...(reaffirming Sayid's episode)
- The 4 years (with 6 months to live) thing reminds of Juliet's sister and Ben's ability to sustain/cure her...
- Could the time distortion to leave the island be longer than the time distortion to enter the island? Or could there be a zone of time disruption where they got stuck in?
- Obvious but this episode occurs before the S3 finale and the S4 premiere
- Jack's lies and Kate's reaction show that they are on the same page when it comes to fabrication. I believe their stories check because they were given stories to tell.

I think this episode was decent but totally expendable.

I don't get this. If it was Aaron (I heard Eric, but the ending score of surprise! makes me believe it was Aaron) why wouldn't Jack want to see him?

Probably just feels guilty.

I watched it with closed captioning - it was Aaron

:lol :lol At people thinking she said Eric. Come on, there was some heavy foreshadowing of Aaron throughout the whole episode, anybody with half a brain would have realized her son is Aaron before the last 5 minutes.

lol, Eric would not be much of a cliffhanger.

Definitely Aaron (damn American accents, sounds like Erin), 24 did the same thing.

I thought it was amazing that they did a Kate off-island episode that I actually ENJOYED. IMO the weakest of the season (weakest episode in a while actually), but still really great.

I want to know what's up with the 3 cards though

Maybe different velocities = different transitional times between the "barrier"? I mean, the missile, I'd guess was traveling a lot faster than the helicopter would.

I called it! I freaking called it. As I was sitting with my buddies and watching last night's episode, I commented on the fact that the baby could be Claire's. Needless to say, everybody now thinks I read spoilers. :lol

But yeah, pretty meh episode overall. First really weak one of the season yet.

I was totally expecting the kid would look like the young Ben, hence why Jack wouldn't want to see the baby. I thought she called him Eric, or did I hear that wrong?

Regardless, I lol'd when Hurly winked and Sawyer said "Got something in your eye?"...there was another very funny Sawyer moment, but I forgot.

I love these flashforwards, they always make me really want to know what happened.

There seriously is a discussion if the name was Aaron? Wasn't it obvious where this episode was going with the whole pregnancy thing and the scene with Claire? I thought it was. I am actually a bit disappointed with this episode.

Oh and I also HEARD Aaron and english is not even my native language. WTF is wrong with your ears? :lol

I would assume because of the circumstances that lead to Aaron being separated from Claire, who lest we forget, is Jack's half-sister.* Whatever separates them, I doubt it's good.

*Unless we're being set up and Kate named her own child the same name.

Nah, kid was clearly (Clairely?) SUPERblonde for a reason.

My wife heard Eric too... jeeze. She almost wanted to seriously argue the fact as well even after listening to it a second time.

I turned on closed captioning though because I'm smart... can't say the same for many of you in this thread...

I kid! Seriously though, you folks didn't see that a mile away? :O

someone spoiler tag the answer to this for me!!

who is the "HE" you guys are talking about from S3 ??

Li'l Baby Aaron

But wait I forgot, this episode sucked.

I gotta go finish my Grenade Sandwich....

I've got a theory to float:
There may have been a lot more to Miles' encounter with Ben than meets the eye.
Miles obviously has some sort of psychic power, we've only seen it in relation to the dead but maybe it goes beyond that. His ridiculous request may have been a cover while he, I dunno, probed Ben's mind or something.

Or he may have been delivering some sort of coded message to him, the amount he requested and the deadline could be alluding to something else entirely.

I find it unlikely that all the build-up of him seeing Ben was really to simply try and extort money from him. Even if he got it, how would he get off the island without anyone knowing? Especially considering there was a witness standing there listening as he made his demands.

Jacobi said:
Wow, Locke has become a fucking asshole... Totally unlikeable character now, he can die I wouldn't really care...

Eh, I don't blame him. He's been getting the run around with every damn person he meets, who fuck with his head instead of giving him any answers. He wants to know shit, and nobody is accommodating him. So he's upping the stakes.

My name is Aaron and I've gone through my who life with people calling my Eric. Somehow no one ever hears my name right when I introduce myself, or when people introduce me. It is an easy mistake to make, but she definitely said Aaron. If she said Eric there would have been no reason for the dramatic rise in the music, and the cliffhanger style ending.

I went to school in Ohio and everyone there pronounced Aaron and Erin the same way. I was like "Whut?"

lol, yeah, that happens too. It always drives me nuts when people try and spell my name that way too. I always want to ask them if they really think I have a vagina.

After the last 2 great eps we are back to the usual Lost mediocrity. What a predictable bore this episode was. We know Kate gets off the island. We know Kate isn't going to fry for her crimes. We know Kate is a bloody indecisive moron. No need to make a whole episode about it! I wish Juliet would go bad and shoot her in the head (but we know that ain't gonna happen - stupid tension breaking flashforwards!!). If the writers were smart they would make her the female lead and wipe out the entire rest of the useless female cast. They have a serious problem writing and maintaining strong female characters - just look at Sun *smacks forehead*

The love triangle junk continues to piss me off (and has since season 1). Jesus, get over this shit already.

The ending with the dramatic reveal music was hilarious. I can't believe people thought she said Eric, even though the writers and Michael Giacchino were sledgehammering into our skulls who her son was all episode.

Only real redeeming moment was Locke's grenade sandwich for Miles. :lol
