Hmmm, maybe they're clones? That would be odd. Faked death + cover up?

While Lindelof says they're not dead...he didn't say they were alive...(I'm reaching).

JJ Abrams made Alias. It's probably government conspiracy.

It's most definitely not clones or anything like that. They would not go that sci-fi.

"Lost" is continuing to stay ahead of "CSI: NY" in total viewers for Wednesday nights, even if it's still lagging in total households.

The ABC series pulled in a 7.2 rating/12 share Wednesday night, nearly identical to what it received the week before, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research. The rating put it behind CSI's 7.7/13, but "Lost" was able to garner nearly 450,000 additional viewers, Zap2it reported.

They can't be in a time portal since they communicated with the outside world in real time, plus the parachuter had a modern phone/clothes.

Isn't the phone too much advanced for 2004? It looks like an all terrain iPhone...

I was just thinking:

The plane crash was a surprise to the others, as shwon in the opening scene of the season.

So how would they have time to fabricate a fake plane with passengers?
Well if you buy into the whole Lost Experience thing... the book "Bad Twin" which was (supposedly) written by the guy who got sucked into the engine in ep 1, didn't come out 'til 2006, two years after the "real crash". In the book, I believe they talk about how the plane had never been found... which doesn't really gel with the release date of the book compared to the "actual" date in the show unless you buy the whole,
time-travel, they're in the future
thing.

From that I think we're supposed to get that whoever this chick is she comes from somewhere well funded. It isn't exactly too far fetched for her to have the phone in 2004, it would just not be available on the consumer market and it would be extremely expensive at that.

In Bad Twin they didn't talk about the plane crash...

I'm pretty sure the forward talks about Gary Troup and how he was lost in the plane crash never to be found.

Oh that's what you meant. Yeah they do talk about it at the beginning. I thought you meant in the book itself. I thought maybe I'd finally finished erasing everything that happened in that awful book from my mind.

Doesn't anyone else think that Michael and his son never got off the island? I mean, the others always come and go on a submarine, how could Michael leave on a measly boat. I don't think he got away that easily...

How long has it been since they left? 2 weeks or so? They've got an engine, so the current/wind can't carry them back. Gotta wonder where they'd be if they're not back in the real world yet...

Isn't he supposed to be a regular in a new show coming up? Demons or something?

I don't know if he's a regular but he is in Demons. Some show about exorcists. It hasn't been picked up yet.

Wow, just saw the episode tonight. Awesome cliffhanger, I'm so glad they're actually moving the story along.

Does anyone else think that Desmond has some sort of connection with the others? He certainly didn't seem to bat an eye about letting Mikheil go. I'm wondering why Desmond didn't ask Mikheil what the chick really said, since it was obvious she said something else.

Holy crap with next week, I also agree that it's Locke's Dad under the bag and that's why he "can't" kill him. I also think it's most likely the crash and survivors are dead statement was staged by the others. I don't think Lost will get that sci-fi heavy.

I don't think he's involved w/the Others. It's obvious he just wants to do whatever he can to keep this chick alive and safe so he can find out what her connection is to Penny. Why take any chances with a dude like Mikhail around? Can't say I blame him.

I'd say it's the opposite. Desmond's the one character with absolutely no connection with the Others. Desmond's not involved in the conflict between the Others and the Oceanic 815 survivors and he doesn't want to be.

That said... Penny's father's company provides funding to the Hanso Foundation, which financed DHARMA...

There may be a connection, but it's indirect and/or unknown to Desmond.

That's a better way of looking at it (and what john tv said), didn't think of it that way. Guess he did just want the girl to be saved and be done with Mikhail and not get in the middle of their war.

I'm still waiting for them to do something about Penny picking up a signal at the end of Season 2. I hope that's where all of this is going.

Don't forget season 1 when he beat the dog shit out of Michael when he thought Michael & Sun were having a relationship.
Jin was still kind of an asshole, Michael wasn't as detestable, and the attack was unexpected, so it didn't really count.

Has anyone seen the translations of what the crash lady actually said to the supposedly dead russian?

Im guessing it wasn't 'thank you for saving me'.

the island is perfect for bukkake

Maybe a fellow passenger parachuted to another part of the island (Penny?, who could be found by the others?/Russian bloke)
maybe you guys already know it by now, but she clearly said "I'm not alone" in portuguese when Mikhail said she said thank you
