To celebrate the launch of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for the Xbox 360, Capcom has organized a big launch event in San Francisco on Thursday, Jan. 11. The event runs from 8 PM til midnight and is open to anyone 18 and up.

You’ll have a chance to meet the Lost Planet development team and watch (or take part in!) an epic Lost Planet multiplayer tournament, with winners scoring cool prizes and the chance to play against the Lost planet developers. Master LEGO Builder Nathan Sawaya will be there creating LEGO masterpieces on the fly, and there will also be a t-shirt press where players can design their own lost Planet shirt, choosing from several pieces of game art and logos. Dozens of 360s set up throughout the event will allow partygoers to try the single player game or to compete against each other in multiplayer matches on the full retail version before the game is released to the public!

You can register for the event through the Lost Planet Community site at http://www.lostplanetcommunity.com or directly through the Neo Venus site (login: Genesis password: 111).

The first 50 gamers through the door get exclusive t-shirts

Why is Lost Planet launching on a Friday instead of a Tuesday?

Anyways, I played the demo today at Best Buy and it was alot of fun. Controlled well, graphics were pretty nice, stuff blew up real good, everything I need. I'm placing my pre-order sometime tomorrow.

i'll prolly go. i'll only hang out with gafers if they have psps and not ds's, tho.

Capcom is really expecting this to be their big hit for the US market. Hopefully it pays off, I don't want Capcom to go the way of Majesco.

Capcom was smart enough to figure out that the following Monday is Martin Luther King Day. They bumped the release date up to avoid angry gamers complaining about shipping

Anyone want to meet up somewhere before this thing kicks off? I work pretty close to there and wouldnt want to go home after work then go all the way back come 8pm. Id like to stay in that area if I can, just need something to do until then.

Completely forgot about that. Smart move indeed.

Academy of Art? You went there?

Don't worry about it. No one remembers their art school days fondly. ;)

omg like i can't wait to meet you guys.

If I wasn't gonna be at CES that day, I would have made the trip up to SF just so that I could get Scoot to autograph this piece of paper. :lol

I signed up. Thanks Wario, you're always on top of things here.

Really glad I have a car over the winter break... though I probably won't be when I have to pay $20 for parking.

PS - as a nondrinker of alcohol, finally a good old fashioned party to attend (hopefully without too many drunk people if drinks are actually being served).

Hey, it's only a few more hours.

This is very exciting for me. I just moved out here on Saturday. I have no job yet, nor any furniture in my apartment. But I'll be at this god damned launch party.

Just got back from the event. Capcom threw a swag party for sure. Free food (courtesy of Wolfgang Puck catering), drinks, and a sweet presentation all around. There was a VIP area, but I guess it was for those who cool enough to be members of the Lost Planet official forums....argh.

Displays of the game were everywhere, decorations galore of ice and mist, thumpin' tunes, an inflated ice mountain to climb (suited fun for the young ones), and the appearance of the Lost Planet development team (Jun Takeuchi, Keiji Inafune, and some other guys) to sign copies of the game.

The game went on sale at 9 p.m., and it was a bundle that consisted of the Collector's Edition of the game plus a shirt for $75. The fact that you could get your game signed by the development team just made the whole deal really nice.

A deathmatch tournament was held, and the winners squared off against the development team for top prizes which included $250 Best Buy gift cards, Lost Planet bomber jackets, copies of the game, posters, and other neat stuff.

I took pics of the event, so hopefully I'll get them up soon.

It was pretty fun. I left at around 10:15, so i missed the Game with the Dev team. I'm kinda bummed that i didn't get to meet Keiji Inafune. He was walking around prior to his signings. Also, Luke wasn't there. However i did get to meet Mark MacDonald, he's a cool guy. One thing that did ruin my time there was some idiot Rent-A-Cop throwing me out of the building (All a misunderstanding). I would've enjoyed it more if that didn't happen.

Didn't the guy cosplaying a Sol Badguy seem out of place?

Dudez. The VIP area had bars made out of ice!

And we totally snagged the free pizzas before they made it out to the general public.

That damn VIP area is what got me into trouble in the first place. They accused me of barging in.

What the hell did you have to do to get in anyway?
